Would you imagine: I had to go to work today - then going shopping - in the evening a date with friends. There was hardly time to listen to DOS today - awful... =/ Does this mean I am already addicted...? O!M!G!

I feel like lately Billie has been screwing with us with these solos  Like they always start out easy, and thenn....OH fuck you random blues scales. But it sounds cool

There's a difference between being experimental and being lazy. I could point to a million examples no one gives a fuck about, like Claudio Sanchez's solo project The Prize Fighter Inferno, or the song "All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues" by Senses Fail, which are crazy weird but also really fucking awesome.

I'm sorry but there was not a single song on Dos that struck me as creative. Lazy Bones and Ashley were the only enjoyable songs to me and I didn't even think those were creative, they were just kind of fun and catchy.

Parental Advisory, I'd guess. That or it's from Pennsylvania.

yes sir you are right. writing 37 songs and releasing them all within 4months is not creative at all.

This may have been mentioned before but I was very amused that Warner Bros. sent me an email telling me that Fuck Time didn't come with my download when indeed I had no problem downloading Fuck Time with my original download  For those who purchased it and don't check out GDC, they're gonna be like "WTF? I have Fuck Time. So weird."

What an awkward email for some poor intern to write after his boss said "It seems customers didn't receive fuck time. Please give them fuck time."

After a solid week of listening...

top tracks: Baby Eyes, Stray Heart (impressive considering I overplayed the shit out of it earlier), Lazy Bones

There aren't really any tracks that I can't stand, I even enjoy Nightlife once in a while.

If I had a device which made me able to go back in time for pranking purposes, I would go back to 1995 right after the height of the Dookie tour and show Green Day "Nightlife", then tell them that by 2012 they are big selling rap/hiphop artists.

Besides a hilarious practical joke, I think the reaction you can probably imagine them having to that piece of news shows how much they indeed have evolved. I actually like "Nightlife", and of course they would probably get it a little better if I played them the album by which it stands in context. It has been a natural evolution, and iDOS! feels as natural at this point, as iUNO! did two months ago, and iTRÉ! probably will when we reach December, cause they have established an artistic freedom for themselves.

So I waited patiently and picked up the physical copy of ¡Dos! today and I've listened to it a few times. So far, I'm kind of blown away that this is even Green Day. It's so not Green Day, that it is.... If that makes sense.

Fuck Time is awesome.

The bass parts on Makeout Party :woot:

I actually like Nightlife a lot.

Wow! That's Loud should have been a b-side, but the guitar solo on it is crazy.

I think I burned myself out on Stray Heart since it's been out for awhile. I find myself wanting to skip it even though I was in love with it when it first came out.

I'm surprised at how much better my CD (and the burn of it) sound compared to the leak I downloaded. WAY more low end.

My favorite songs are all of them. This is such a solid album, not as accessible as Uno but still damn good. I can't say which is better, mostly because their musical styles are so different, almost like this is two different bands.

The best songs, in my humble opinion, from a song writing and music standpoint are Lazy Bones, Makeout Party, Stray Heart, Lady Cobra, Wow! That's Loud, and Amy, maybe even Nightlife because it takes risks and (mostly) pulls it off.

Honorable Mention: Ashley and Baby Eyes, they're great songs but they stand out as standard punk songs against a collection of very unique tracks. Wild One is so close to being a great song, I love it to death but musically it's pacing and length hold it back.

The weakest songs are Stop When the Red Lights Flash and Fuck Time. But DO NOT get me wrong though, I fucking love the crap out of these songs.

8-9/10 would buy again.

I don't hate Nightlife but it really shouldn't have been released as a Green Day song, if it was like a Lady Cobra song featuring Green Day I would understand, but it just seems so out of place on this record and I highly doubt we'll be hearing it live. The bassline is pretty awesome though, sounds like something out of the first Gorillaz album.

Yeah I sort of agree with you. I mean I love Billie's part and how he draws everything out, but there was way too much lady cobra...it was like whose song is this again? I think it's fine for a Green Day, but only if they made her part shorter.

I just got it at best buy today and am loving it so far! Although it was kind of sad to replace "Uno" with "Dos" in the CD player of my car...lol

I think it sounds perfectly fitted to the album actually. It has a very sexual, taboo sort of feeling. I've come to the realization that Lady Cobra may be representing temptation for Billie in the song, and not an actual specific person, just "the nightlife" and all of its trappings. She says "I'm like a devil on your shoulder", etc.

It fits with the album lyrically, but musically I just think it just seems out of place with the whole garage rock feel of the rest of the album.
