¡DOS! Album

Hasn't exactly been zero promotion but Warner have been so bad in coordinating the whole process

I can't blame the label. I think they're trying, but there's only so much they can do when the band can't get out there and promote their stuff.

I just called Hot Topic's customer service. They do have it in stock, and I was able to place my order over the phone.

I called and all they told me was that they couldn't find it on the website and that they couldn't do anything and just keep checking back on the website or stores.

I couldn't say anything about Baby Eyes after having listened to the record for the very first time on friday, but that song has really been growing on me ever since. I love how Ashley flows into Baby Eyes.. especially with that "Go! Go! Go!" in the beginning of Baby Eyes. And I gotta say I love Billie's vocals in that track. Particularly in the very first lines. "Year of the rat, last of the litter." Somehow sounds brilliant, I don't know. And generally, Baby Eyes is so catchy that I can't get it out of my head. I'm constantly humming "I say whoa.. I'm out of control, well baby when I see your pretty face.." ;)

I am not audiophile, but I cannot hear what you are talking about at all.

Really? Must be because I put my hearing aid aside that I don´t hear it...? Repeated it but I don´t hear an awful, jarring sound...? Well sometimes it´s good to be a bit older - you don´t realise eyery frequence anymore... can give you more pleasure... sometimes...

I envy you seriously. It's during the second "please". I hate being able to pick out things like that...I do it with most music. A curse of mine.

It is now back up on the website and showing that it is in stock. WTF?

Maybe you're listening to a really shitty file?

I don't think they have any idea what's going on. When I called the guy told me that they weren't going to be on sale until next Monday. I guess it doesn't matter, I just ordered mine off the website.

When i first listened to uno! i was blown away and loved it from the start. With dos! It was different. I was kinda irritated after the first and the second listen, too. But now, after the 5 listen i really must say that every song on this record fits just perfectly. The songs need to grow on you, and thats the point why they wont ever be played as singles in the radio. Thats the point why they moved "stray heart" from tré! on here -> to have one single off dos.

All in all the album gets a 8,5, while uno gets a 9. (f.e. American idiot 9, dookie 9, 21CB 5):)

Printed my BestBuy coupon from greenday.com and going to pick the album at my lunch hour! Came here to express excitement only to find everybody already heard and talked about the leaked Dos, bummer. Oh well I'm on my own then.

It would be nice if somebody starts a new thread for those who will hear the album for the first time today and wanna share first impressions with others who did the same. The reason I waited is that I don't like compromised quality of mp3s on the first listen, I don't mind 320kbps mp3s for my iPod but that first listen has to be CD quality for me.

It's not only the leaked Dos people have been talking about, the album came out on different days in different countries so it was available for some people to buy on Friday and some (like for me in the UK) yesterday, it's just come out in the US today. Everyone's just been coming in here to talk about it and get excited about it when they've heard it, feel free to do the same :)

So after my first two listens to the album I am ready to give an early review.

I FUCKING LOVE IT :runaround: :runaround: :runaround:

After the awesome start with See You Tonight, the next two tracks felt a bit lacking. I have never been a huge fan of Fuck Time, I always thought it was an okay song, but for me the recorded version was much worse than okay (sorry). Stop When the Red Lights Flash was alright, but the chorus was kinda boring.

At this point I was a bit worried as Dos! is the album I have most been looking forward to of the trilogy. But my fears were vanquished with Lazy Bones, amazing track. Wild One was a bit long but I quite like the feel of it. Makeout Party is probably my favorite, and Stray Heart, Ashley, and Baby Eyes are awesome as well. Lady Cobra is pretty good as well, though I was a bit disappointed only because this song has been hyped up quite a bit. I am assuming the live version would be fucking awesome (I think I'll listen now).

And now the controversial Nightlife. I am not quite sure how I feel about this song. I absolutely love the eerie feel of it and I find the teasing foil from Lady Cobra to work quite well. However, I am not sure how I would feel about this song if it was not Green Day, and therefore I will reserve judgement for now.

Wow! That's Loud has the greatest song title ever and is also a pretty awesome song as well. Finally Amy brings the album to a very nice close. I absolutely love the production, especially the vocals, and it certainly brought a tear to my eye when Billie sings:

"May I have this last dance by chance if we should meet?

Can you write me a lullaby so we can sing you to sleep"

Dos! has so far lived up to my super high expactations and I am incredibly proud of Green Day for making this great record. I will review it more breifly again when I have fully digested this awesome record. Cheers :D

I'm gonna do my Uno/Dos review here.

Uno!

Nuclear Family 9.5/10 - LOVE this song, I think it might be one of my new favourites. Definitely up there.

Stay the Night 9/10 - Another great song. Can see why this was popular.

Carpe Diem 9/10 - Again, another high ranker. Love the lyrics and the whole song.

Let yourself go 8.5/10 - Slightly lower score for the " repetitiveness" but brings back insomniac memories.

Kill the DJ 8/10 - it's grown on me i'll admit.

Fell for you 7/10 - One that hasn't grown on me, not sure why

Loss of control - 9/10 Another strong song.

Troublemaker 7/10 - Same as fell for you, I just don't feel it...

Sweet 16 - 9/10 - Beautiful song. So heartfelt and jus9.t wonderful

Rusty James - 8.5/10 Another High scorer. Brilliant.

Oh Love - 7/10 - Catchy but nothing special.

Overall 7.5/10

DOS!(this is only my second full listen through, for Uno it's like 50)

See you tonight - Can't really rate it. It's like SOTC, not enough to rate

Fuck time - 8/10 - Didn't like it to begin with but it's a grower

SWTRLF -8/10 - Quite like this one

Lazy Bones - 9/10 It's got the simple lyrics of Basket Case or brain stew but more grown up. Love it

Wild one - 7/10 - like troublemaker, not great, but not awful

Make out party 7/10 - Didn't leave enough of an impression to say it was was great, nor awful.

Stray Heart 8.5/10 One of the albums stand out tracks

Ashley 8/10 good solid track

Baby eyes - 8.5/10 - Another solid track

Lady Cobra/Nightlife(neither work alone IMO) 7/10 - As an experiment it works. Not sure I'd like an album like this. As much as I was against nightlife to begin, it's been stuck in my head

WTL - 8/10 - Good, catchy

Amy - 6/10 - Really not keen on this, just doesn't sit right

Overall 7.1

(will re-evaluate when I've heard DOS more, but I like Uno as an album more. Like most people, when Tre is released I think we'll have a fucking awesome album mixed with tracks from all three albums)
