Im interested to know what the Static noise crew thinks of the album..

Yeah it's a shame they suspended that. Some of us should get together in a Google chatroom or something and hold our own Static noise while they're on leave.

Is the song Stop When the Red Lights Flash supposed to have any correlation to the lyric in Oh Love?

fairly disappointed with Dos to be honest. I was expecting something a lot like The Foxboro Hot Tubs but with more of a party atmosphere, but for me at least it wasn't as exciting or as well developed as Stop Drop and Roll or as fun as Uno. I quite like Fuck Time, Makeout Party, stray Heart and Ashley but can't get my head round the rest. as for Nightlife; I love the music but i can't stand the "rapping". it just doesn't fit at all with Green day and reminds me way too much of the normal chart stuff.

I agree, and just having that "getting ready for the party---party---post-party" narrative on these albums kind of puts an arc in your head that maybe you wouldn't have seen yourself or agreed with necessarily. I understand why they branded it that way, but it does change the way you approach the lyrics and sometimes makes you disregard certain things as simply being part of that narrative. It also demands less of the listener to "figure it out for themselves" when they're being told what the whole story is vaguely supposed to be. Thinking back to Uno, although I get how it's about living in the moment and yearning, having it as the "pre-party" album really diminishes it for me. Not to mention makes zero sense for songs like Rusty James, Sweet 16... even the ones that are planning for trouble specifically, like Loss of Control and Let Yourself Go, aren't really about partying, it's such a stupid word that doesn't do justice to the story here.

The following statement is merely my opinion and what I have observed; take it for what you will.

But I feel that Green Day sort of HAD to put a "concept" for these three albums. I mean when you watch interviews with them talking about the trilogy, the interview is always asking what's the story behind these albums? And considering they have been doing concept albums recently, I think it is almost a forced reaction by Green Day to be like "oh yeah, well UNO is about this..Dos is about this..and so on." And if you can see they are very vague with their story. I mean before the party, at the party, and after the party? I honestly think Green Day had a bunch of songs and wanted to do something different by releasing three albums in a row. And I don't think people would have taken too highly to the fact that Green Day was just releasing a bunch of albums without a "point." (as in like a concept or story going through the albums) I mean back in the day Green Day released albums like Dookie end people took highly to that album..there was no pressure of needing a story line.

Basically what I am saying is people shouldn't be so critically of looking at the albums from the "before the party, at the party, and after part" perspective. Just enjoy Green Day at what they do best(:

Now, after listening this album for almost two weeks, I can say I might enjoy Uno little bit more than this one. Dos is an epic garage rock album and it works almost perfectly as an album, but I still enjoy Green Day's original, pop punk-ish sound more than this garage-style. First I was like holy shit this is way better than Uno, as a "concept" it is, though it's not a concept album, but it carries it's "theme" better than Uno does. Still, I like Uno's style better. And I still think Tré will be the best piece of the trilogy. :)

I think we just need to roll with the punches guys. Green Day were always gunna change musically. They can't keep trying to replicate American Idiot for the rest of their career. Personally I think Uno is pretty great, but I just can't get into Dos :S

I hope they always continue to change and evolve. If bands stagnate then people become bored and uninterested. I'm not saying they should completely change the type of music they release. But a moderate amount of change is always good for a band in my opinion, even if it doesn't go down well with the hardcore fans.

Dos is anyday better than Uno.If that does not reflect in the sales right now, it will definately reflect in the time to come.Insomniac debuted at #2 on Billboard and Numrod on #11.But on the long run Nimrod did well, because it was better.I am sure they put all their best songs in Tre.Time and again it has been mentioned that Tre is the best of all.I dont feel so but I am definately sure Tre will be a massive hit. They just need to select their Best Song as a lead single and FUCKING promote it!!

¡Dos! is fucking ace, I hadn't enjoyed an album this much probably since American Idiot.

And what's with that constant need to compare it to ¡Uno!? We got 2 albums in 40 days and we are getting another one in less than a month! Enjoy the full thing!

how is Uno more fun?

And how are Fuck Time, Makeout Party, Lady Cobra, and Nightlife intellectual?

LOL! I did not mean each song individually, more in general. I guess I found Uno to be more upbeat and relaxed while Dos is a bit more serious and makes you think. I like all the songs on both albums. As for Nightlife, I am not a fan of rap, but I love the way Billie sings in minor with such a mysterious, almost erie tone.

Hey I know I was sort of just kidding earlier, but if anybody would want to try to get into a Google chatroom and film a small Static Noise like podcast, I'd be more than willing to chime in on it.

Why did GDA stop the Static Noise?

Really? Can you tell why?

When I first heard Lazy Bones, I knew I had to add it to my How-did-Billie Joe-get-inside-my-head-and-write-exactly-what-i-am-feeling? list of songs.
