Nimrod: Haushinka (why the hell does everyone hate this awesome song??!!)

I think it's because it doesn't quite fit with the rest of Nimrod

I know I didn't like it at first, but when I heard it was written way back when - It all made sense

For the record now I love it, I think because I skipped over it so many times, it doesn't feel as over-listened to compared to the rest of the album :)

I don't have opinions for all of the albums (yet), but I can add a few:

For Dookie, my underrated favourite is In The End. It's just so brattish and 'I don't care', but it's still upbeat.

For Nimrod - geez, this is a challenge. I'm pretty sure I'd go with Reject though - you can see just how pissed off Billie Joe is throughout the song, and the lyrics are pretty good IMO.

And for American Idiot, as others have said, it's Give Me Novacaine. There's so much raw emotion, and you understand that this character is on the edge.

I’m not going to make a list but I’ll just say that Misery may be their most under appreciated song of all. It’s so creative and theatrical, it seems to be his first attempt at writing for totally fictional characters and I love the cabaret style feel to the music. It suits it perfectly. I just think it’s one of their most original songs with an interesting story and it gets my overall vote. I’m sorry it never got a video or live treatment (as far as I know).

I agree with everything you said. Misery is truly brilliant and yet it doesn't seem to be appreciated by a lot of people. I simply love the overall mood and how the song builds up , each verse bringing a new instrument quite subtly. There are so many little things that you can hear being played in the background.

The thing I appreciate most about this song is if you didn't tell me who wrote it and just handed me a piece of paper with the lyrics, I'd think it was a Springsteen song (one of my other favorite lyricists).

1039/SOSH - "Green Day"

I love how behind the opening chords you can hear a bong rip.

Kerplunk! - "One for the Razorbacks"

Super catchy tune with one of Billie Joe's best guitar solos.

Dookie - Having a Blast

Lyrically, this might be Green Day's best song.  That last verse is just incredible.

Do you ever think back to another time? Does it bring you so down that you thought you lost your mind?” Have you ever recalled a past occurrence or relationship and felt like crap after doing so?

Do you ever want to lead a long trail of destruction and mow down any bullsh*t that confronts you?” Does this past thing make you want to go in a blind rage and hurt innocent people around you?

Do you ever build up all the small things in your head?” Are you bottling up minor and insignificant things?

…to make one problem that adds up to nothing. To me it’s nothing…” These minor and insignificant things are so irrelevant, that they literally are nothing.

Insomniac - Stuart & The Ave.

Insomniac, only slightly more than Dookie in my opinion, best exemplifies Mike Dirnt's incredible bass skills.  This song is arguably the epitome of that, and is in my eyes, probably GD's single most underrated song.

Nimrod - Worry Rock

"The Grouch" is a close second, but "Worry Rock" gets almost no recognition.  In fact, I think the middle portion of Nimrod (which for some reason gets a lot of shit, I'm assuming because of "Last Ride In") has actually given us some of GD's best work.

Warning - Misery

I stupidly used to skip over this track because it sounded "different."  As I've finally gotten around to listening to Warning all the way through on a more consistent basis, I realize I've missed a true gem with this track.  The characters and stories in this track are something out of a Darkness-on-the-Edge-of-Town era Bruce Springsteen song.

American Idiot - She's a Rebel

I couldn't choose "Letterbomb" because that seems to be a default choice throughout the GD community.  While it wasn't a mainstream hit, that song is widely considered to be underrated/one of the best GD songs ever.  Therefore, I couldn't myself call it "underrated."  "She's a Rebel" is just so much fun.  Overall though, it's tough to choose a song on this album thats underrated given how widely appreciated the album is as a whole.

21st Century Breakdown - Peacemaker

Similarly to "Misery," I stupidly skipped over this track because it sounded "different."  I particularly love the line "for I am a seizer (CAESAR), I'm gonna seize the day" because of that homonym double meaning.

¡Uno! - Rusty James

I think this is more by default, because Uno is the worst Green Day album in my opinion.  So I don't have much to say about this one.

¡Dos! - Makeout Party

Easily my favorite song from the Trilogy, and simply some of Billie Joe's best solo work and Dirnt's best bass work in that breakdown especially.

¡Tre! - 8th Ave. Serenade

It's very poppy, but it's nonetheless extremely catchy.  Also a very fun tune to strum on the guitar.

Revolution Radio - Too Dumb to Die

I'll have to come back to this one, because I'm still (after a year) digesting Rev Radio.

39/Smooth: 16

Kerplunk: No One Knows

Dookie: Coming Clean

Insomniac: No Pride

Nimrod: All the Time- I think this is one of the most underrated GD songs ever.  I never see it as anyone's favorite and it always goes out early in Survivors or match-ups.  It reminds me of both Worry Rock and Uptight, which both seem to get more love.

Warning: Misery- I'm glad to see all the Misery love here (odd sentence).  I've always had this as one of my top 15 GD songs.  Billie talked about Warning being influenced by Dylan, and Misery reminds me of Desolation Row with the characters and storyline.  It's the forefather to JOS and all of the other long songs.

American Idiot: Homecoming- Hard to pick one for AI, but since JOS gets all the love for long songs...

21st CB: Horseshoes and Hand Grenades- I was debating amongst this and RHS and Peacemaker, but had to go with H&HG since I'm amazed it didn't become a live staple.  It was like this and EJN were the two rockers of 21CB, but EJN got all the love by both the band and fans.

¡UNO!: Troublemaker- gets way too much hate on the reddit sub.

¡DOS!: Stop When the Red Lights Flash

¡TRÉ!: Walk Away

Revolution Radio: Ordinary World- I die a little inside when someone says they don't like this.

1039 SOSH: 409 In Your Coffeemaker - you just gotta love a chord progression that kicks music theory in the face like that.
Kerplunk: Words I Might Have Ate - that song is just awesome and one of Green Day's most punk acoustic songs imo
Dookie: Pulling Teeth - no idea why, it's just a cool song.
Nimrod: Take Back - anybody ever appreciate that sort-of-but-not-exactly-growling BJ does in the chorus? I like it...
American Idiot: Extraordinary Girl - very few covers of this song and I don't think I've ever heard anyone say they like that song.
Revolution Radio: Outlaws - I dunno, I just feel that that song is sort of an outsider on that album that needs more love.
