Green Day on Twilight soundtrack

Wut?

Sure they have a few good songs, but most of their slavish horde of a fanbase comes from the fact that they were the "first" rock band. Just because they were first doesn't mean they were automatically amazing. The media just completely overhyped the shit out of them. I actually thank Yoko Ono, because at least we got to hear some of Lennon's far superior solo work.

MC5 were probably one of the first punk bands on the block, but no one goes nuts about them.

It's still good because it's Green Day, but on the grand scale of all the songs they've ever released, I'd place this in the 'steaming pile of shite' category.

Give it a week and I might well love it, but first impressions are that it's so. by. fucking. numbers.

Yeah sometimes it can just take a while for a song to grow on you. I'm not 100% on it just yet, but I am liking what I'm hearing so far :)

Sure, the piano is hardly complex, it's slow, and maybe a little overblown.

But the lyrics man. The lyrics.

I wonder what they are gonna do after the triology thing is over. Forgotten being the last song of triology and that video preety much shows that.

Not really it doesn't since green day didn't even make that video, and they're not releasing this single, twilight is.

Honestly the people thinking this is it are mental

Well, I love the song, and quite like the video too (now that I can see it, don't know when it came on MTV UK, but it wasn't there last night). At least the video is watchable (not like Oh Love), although some of the concert footage does not seem to fit with the slowness of the song, but its good that Green Day are in the video. And the film reel noise at the beginning, sounds odd the way it cuts into the piano intro, I think that should have faded out, not just stopped (but that's just my opinion).

I do find it rather strange that so many people have 'objections' to the "Twilight" connection - to me that just seems the same scenario as all those Green Day haters that say GD have sold out/gone commercial/too mainstream - and we know what we think of them !!!! I'm not a Twilight fan, but I wouldn't insult anyone who is, just because they are fanatical about something they like, just as we are fanatical about Green Day.

I'd rather see all these 'memorable moments' from Green Day in the video than them just performing in some desperately over elaborate studio (Like in Oh Love and WMUWSE)

Kinda conflicted by this song...I probably have to warm up to the song, I tend to not like the slow songs when they are first put out, but after a couple listens they become some of my favorite ^__^

I feel like this song is going to be like "Good Riddance;" people will love the song, but that's like the only song people will know :/

Gonna be weird hearing this right after 99 Revolutions. Very different styles.

This song is so, so wonderful. And there's so much Billie in it, if you know what I mean.

Agree to disagree but while they were hyped in the beginning of their career for being the first rock band the reason their impact among critics and music fans has remained is because they never stopped pushing the boundaries of music. Some of the things they did in music have never been matched, especially in rock music. Also, Yoko Ono did not break up the Beatles, that is a stupid argument that has been finally buried among anyone who has looked into the Beatles' history at all. I wouldn't call Lennon's solo work superior, there are some great songs, but to each his own ;)

Also MC5 deserves more credit.

Sorry for the tangent from the topic. I am going to restrain myself from listening because I wanna wait for the record, but I am really interested in the video.

Hey guys! I notice that the video and the lyrics are connected in some parts..

For Example: where in the world did the time go : Blue in the video

Like losing faith to our abandon : billie looking at Billie

Sometimes you're better lost than to be seen : we can't see anything on screen but a blinding light

but....the most scared is.... : don't look away from the arms of tomorrow : There are the guys on stage saying goodbye to the crowd.

brrr shivers.

I know the video is quite jarring at times given the current situation, but people need to calm down. They didn't even make the video. There are no hidden messages or anything to do with what's going on right now.

You all need to grow up a bit. This looks like ANY music video involving a couple. They don't even show any vampire/werewolf scenes. It's comparable to WMUWSE, 21 Guns, or any other GD video with a boy and girl. I know it's 'cool' to hate Twilight, but seriously relax!

Couldn't agree more.

I don't like Twilight that much but it's not like the worst movie I've ever seen (trust me). I don't get why it seems like a cool thing to hate on Twilight and who cares if Green Day's song is in the movie?! I actually like this video, it fits good with the song.

What I don't think you guys understand is most of us are disappointed at the quality of the video, not so much the fact that it's connected to Twilight. I know I'm not "hating on Twilight because it's cool." They could have easily used scenes from the movie that fit the slower pace of the ballad -- not them running through a forest or the girl jumping off of a cliff with cheesy effects. The clips were edited together very poorly and the transitions between clips were so quick for this slow song that it was distracting and IMO actually took away from the song itself and didn't present the movie in a way that would encourage anyone except fans to go see it.

Precisely. A lot of people are taking things out of context.

Did Billie not say Dos = the party, Tre = dealing with aftermath (or something like that) ? The final line of the trilogy is 'Don't look away from the arms of love.' So is the trilogy not a love story from that romantic old devil Mr BJA ?
