Jet Taman
Sweet 16 reminds me of Kerplunk songs, especially the opening riff. A sweet love song like a lot of the songs off of Kerplunk and 39 smooth. I love his love songs for Adie. Nuclear Family and Stay the Night are my 2nd and 3rd. Great opening songs for the CD to show that Green Day is back and stronger than ever!
Fuzz
Rusty James I'm pretty 'eh' about. The lyrics seem bland..or just..average Green Day lyrics. Some metaphor about beating hearts, going to some great "divide", comedies and tragedies, yatta yatta yatta. I would actually prefer they rename the song back to "Last Gang in Town" since it's repeated so many times. I started liking Rusty James more when I read what Billie Joe said it was about Billie has mentioned the song is "probably the most bitter song I've ever written." The "last gang in town" referenced in the song is Green Day, and they're still out there going strong, while all their early critics who held Green Day in contempt for their popularity have all disappeared. Billie Joe told Guitar World that these people "became finger pointers a little bit. Then they disappeared. ... Green Day is still here. Where are you? What happened to all the values that you were bringing to the table? Now you're gone. All the things you were telling to fight for, you're not fighting for them anymore." spark in the night
oh my god I can't stand the intro to Stay the Night. The first 15 seconds..nope. I started liking Rusty James more when I read what Billie Joe said it was about I didn't know that before. Now that I have that story in mind, maybe I'll like it more as I listen to it. Kinda like another 86 kind of song.
~ Walking Contradiction
That's a really hard decision. I'm stuck between Stay the Night, Sweet 16 and Fell for You. same! and Carpe diem...
Dai.
I got permission from Andres to make this thread, mods please don't close it. I was so confused. My favorite -so far- is Fell For You. Kind of brings back a sense of innocent infatuation that was long lost. And besides, it sounds pretty to my ears. Stay The Night is a close second. iltrenta
I voted for Nuclear family, it's very catchy, it hooked me on the first listen. I'm a fan of the "baby baby baby it's a blow out" and "screaming screaming bloody murder" parts and of the little screams here and there. I love it and it's a great opening track! DannyDirnt
oh my god I can't stand the intro to Stay the Night. The first 15 seconds..nope. I'd also like it to be shorter, but the song is still epic
Backyard Skulls
hmm I really like Stay The Night, Rusty James and Troublemaker. Favourite is probably Stay The Night, the lyrics are great and I love the 'live' ending with they 'heyyooohh' and the breakdown at the end. I love the meaning behind Rusty James and the whole sound. Troublemaker because it sounds so sleazy and I love the whole vibe of it.

EJN
Ahh this is so tough it changes every day. I honestly like every single song on this album. My favorites are Nuclear Family, Stay the Night, Kill the DJ, Fell For You, Loss of Control, Angel Blue, and Sweet 16. I suppose I will vote forthe one I love most right this second which is Angel Blue
Punx89
It's really difficult to pick but I have to say that Stay the Night is my favorite....
Agija
Couldn't decide between Nuclear Family, Carpe Diem, Kill The DJ, Angel Blue or Sweet 16. I fell in love with Carpe Diem the moment when I first heard some live version of it. And it used to be my favourite song back in summer. Kill The DJ is my ring tone and I think I'll never get sick of the song. I've been listening to Angel Blue non stop since the album came out, it's a fabulous song. But I voted for Sweet 16 because it was the song that popped into my mind when I read this thread title.
Trotsky
Tie between Rusty James and Carpe Diem, but I'll hand it to Rusty James.
newsflash777
right now its Nuclear Family. The fucking balance of energy and that underlining melancholy is just

porksoda
In descending order: Fell For You, Let Yourself Go, Kill The DJ, Loss of Control, Angel Blue, Nuclear Family, Rusty James, Stay The Night, Sweet 16, Oh Love, Carpe Diem. Although it's really hard to rank them because there isn't really a terrible song on the record. There are a couple that I like better than the others, but the rest are all on about the same level. Fell For You really stands out to me. It reminds me of old school Green Day and the lyrics are beautiful. It's honestly the song I've always wanted to write myself. I know exactly how Billie's feeling when he's singing because I've been in the exact same situation.
Hermione
Troublemaker! The lyrics are killer line after killer line, clever and hilarious and sung with a delicious snarl. "I like your BMXcellent tits" and "I wanna get inside of you" are two favourites, and the almost rap-like last verse is pretty much the most badass thing I've ever heard, especially "I wouldn't say I'm straight 'cause I'm bent out of shape". Music wise it's both Network-y AND Foxboro-y which is awesome, with the chorus reminding me a lot of Alligator which can only be a good thing. It's retro and weird and funky. And the guitar solo! Oh my , it's freaky and fabulous and I think it must be my favourite Green Day guitar solo of all time. I love the leery "Hey!"'s, I love the "woo-oo-oo"'s. I love every single little thing about this song. I also LOVE Kill The DJ, Loss Of Control, Let Yourself Go and Fell For You. But it pains me not to list more because there really isn't a song on this album that I don't love.
spark in the night
Ok so this is kinda weird, but the songs that I don't have listed as my top favorites, actually have bits and pieces that I like. For le example: Stay the Night. Not really a stand out song for me, but I love around 3:20 in the song where Billie goes "I gotta know are you the one that got away!" I like that little part. And Nuclear Family I love the "Babe-Babe-Baby it's a blowout!" and "Scream-Scream-Screaming bloody murder!" parts Fell for You, Loss of Control, and Angel Blue blend together for me. I can't find the hook I need. Troublemaker- music is awesome. Lyrics are not This song reminds me of.. I can't put my finger on it..like Johnny Thunders or something kinda edgy punk 70s 80s ish. The "hey's" are great. And Billie's singing is going back to that American-British accent he used to do

whitechristmas
I'm going with Nuclear Family, but Stay The Night, Fell For You, and Sweet 16 all come in a close second. It's just a really catchy song and a really kick ass way to open an album. I love the second verse, especially "Ba-ba-ba-baby it's a blowout/Like a nuclear bomb and it won't be long 'till I detonate".

I sadly can't say the same about Stay The Night yet because I haven't had any girl come to my house at night hahaha 0 votes for Oh love XD LOL Because Oh Love isn't as good as many others and I think it's the least liked song int he album lol when everyone put their rankings it was almost always the worst rated Poor Oh Love
