Billie getting treatment for substance abuse.

WhiteTim spent a long time talking about this in the original thread. You might want to check out what he said.

Also, the thread hasn't been buried. It's third from the top...I think your post belongs in there, seeing a lot of other people have been saying the same things.

One other person thinks the same as you, congratulations. But I did not say the post was buried. I said the topic was buried. They went off on rants about ¡Uno! and this is not a post regarding Billie's alleged substance abuse, but it is a response to the stupid idea of making him a Get Well video.

Look, I understand that a lot of people are upset and confused that we're not getting all of the facts that we want but you gotta understand that what's happening has NOTHING TO FUCKING DO WITH YOU. YOU DON'T COUNT RIGHT NOW.

If you really cared you'd stop complaining and just let it be while Billie gets his shit together and becomes healthier.

Is this discussion REALLY still going on? -.- People really are overreacting... and I don't mean it in the way you're thinking. Why don't we all just shut up about this and let Billie be, because in the end, his personal life is really none of our business. If he is indeed getting help, I wish him the best on the road to recovery, but this whole discussion is just getting redundant.

Exactly. You are proving my point. People need to shut the hell up and leave Billie alone. I obviously understand the irony in my post, however I created it because FANS ARE ACTUALLY CREATING A GET WELL VIDEO. Holy shit, how embarrassing.

OP: Default text from now on, please.

Do I think the apology was pressured by Clear Channel and the label? Absolutely. Do I think they told Billie Joe to say he was seeking treatment for substance abuse? That's doubtful.

Look, I don't think the dude is at death's door by any stretch of the imagination, but he once had a DUI three times over the legal limit. It's not like he hasn't flaunted a bit of a drinking problem, and I wouldn't find it hard to believe he was burning out from overwork and self-medicating with a fuckton of booze. It's pretty believable via common sense.

And also, lots of bands have fanatical fans. We are no exception on this forum, people will do what they do. Lots of people feel their lives have been personally changed by Green Day and they want to express that to BJ in their own way.

I'm merging this into the main rehab thread.

I don't see how that's embarrassing? It's not like you're being forced to be apart of it. I think it's a sweet, sincere gesture, as much as I have no interest in being in it either I still think it's cool that people are taking the time out of their day to wish him well. You're definitely making this a bigger issue than it is, if there's anyone overreacting right now, it's you.

This can all be discussed in the Billie getting treatment for substance abuse which Marlee has already linked to.

His DUI happened over 10 years ago, during the lowest point of his career, during the most depressing times of his life, and is completely irrelevant. I hate how that keeps getting brought up!

How was that the lowest point of his career? They were definitely in the process of recording American Idiot at the time, or at least writing for it. I'm sure he's had worse times.

It happenes in 2003 but that besides the point...

No band or label just going to say a member going thru treatment for no reason at all

As far as cut short well Billie even said they had 30 mins and ive seen scans of the contract shed for 30 mins more to it check earlier posts in here

The get well video whats the issue these fans feel they have a connection and want to show they love em i mean im not getting invovled with it but more power to those who do i can understand why im that way with Nirvana so

He could be referring to the times when Warning came out. At least that's what I'm thinking because at the time warning wasn't all that well received

How was that their lowest point of his career? Smh. Because Green Day's previous album sold the worst out of any GD album ever. People were obsessing over pop-"punk" posers that were only popular following Dookie's wake. The mainstream was casting Green Day aside and it drove Billie to heavy drinking. That explains why he got chubby. They were writing American Idiot, however they were still at the lowest point in their career.

It wasn't until after they released AI that their career revived itself (to world-wide domination).

Thank you! I agree. I mean, no doubt the reason the statement was issued was for PR purposes.

Billie Joe may not have some huge, life-affecting addiction problem (at least, I certainly hope not). Still, most of us have seen that sometimes he takes things too far with the booze, and IHeart was a very public display of that. It was alarming. And I highly doubt that a record company would say that he was getting treatment just because of one isolated incident, so obviously there was some need for intervention before this point. Does it mean that he's extremely ill? No, of course not! But he might need some help and some time to get himself together before they embark on the tour.

Regardless of the severity of the problem, I think it's just good that it's being taken care of sooner rather than later. Touring and promotion seems like it can be extremely taxing and surely it is important for any musician to have a clean bill of health before going all over the world for months. Even if it really isn't that big of an issue now, it could turn into one. Better safe than sorry.

Fans can treat this however they see fit. Some may think that others are overreacting, but I think that's beside the point. The common theme here is that no matter what is going on right now, we all want Billie to be happy and healthy. Some will write letters, make videos, and draw pictures. Some will do nothing, and that is fine too. But Green Day is a huge part of a lot of fans lives and if they get some comfort in sending Billie a positive little note, I don't see what the problem is.

It wasn't for no reason at all... how many television broadcasts would risk having Green Day perform if they knew it was a possibility Billie Joe would have another "episode"?

You sound like you have amazing insight into Billie's personal life. You really have nothing to back most of this up, other than conjecture. It may well be true, but you don't know. And getting chubby? You could just as easily say he got thin because he got back into drugs.

Green Day used to (and still) have some crazy on-stange antics. No one has ever been declared as having a substance abuse problem for it. That's why I believe this is more than just damage control or something. If that was all they were after, they'd just release an apology. A musician being out of it for a performance doesn't equal a need for treatment. The media loves excuses like dehydration, exhaustion, etc for strange behavior (not that I'm comparing Billie to the people who use those excuses all the time at all).

I have years of gathered information to back myself up. And got back in to drugs? Alcohol makes you fat. Methamphetamine makes you skinny. That's just common knowledge.

They also never pissed off Clear Channel - the owners of radio.

Who said he's being forced into anything? It's not rehab; they specifically said "treatment." He easily could have had treatment because that literally can mean anything.

But to be fair you have no proof if Billie has been sober or casually drink or drinks the whole bar dry than any of us do... noone here knows any more than what we see or get told

Clear channel arent mad tho...

Yes, I'm sure you're the world's foremost 19-year-old expert on what motivates Billie Joe Armstrong to do the things he does.

And I'm aware of that, that's why I said you could just as well say he got thin from starting drugs. Doesn't make it true.

You're right, all high and mighty 21-year-old admin. You're trying to argue the stupidest point ever and are not worthy to continue this debate effectively.

Clear Channel is obviously mad - they received the finger during their own festival haha not to mention the horrible publicity for their organizers
