Fuzz
Yes Green Days manager just made it up oookkkkaaayyyy There's lots of different types of rehab, and places saying he "checked in" anywhere are pulling it out of their ass. GD's manager did not say he checked in to rehab.
WhiteTim
whatever, stop trying to sound important. .Holly
also there is no way that half ass letter that was posted on gd.com was from the band. it seems like it was from the record label or a spokes person. look at when billie was in the hospital, mike and tre made the announcement themselves and even made a video explaining what happened. (yes i understand this is a more serious issue with billie, and i don't expect a video it's just clear that someone else is speaking for green day in that news letter) Absolutely. Also, considering that it was posted on the OFFICIAL GREEN DAY WEBSITE, I'm surprised they didn't at least wish Billie well. It was extremely impersonal bordering on insensitive. gerardsangel4977
One thing that really pisses me off about all this is how much coverage there is. Green Day has always kept their heads down and their personal lives out of the news. Now fucking media corporations decide they are good to cover when this happens. I can't fucking stand it! False facts are being conjured out of thin air and gossip is ensuing. Leave the fucking guy alone! I never see the fucking Chicago Tribune covering Billie i=when he did Habitat for Humanity. I'm not saying they should. But now they title an article Green Day frontman finally goes to rehab. Apparently some mysterious friend of the band called Billie a loose cannon? Yeah fucking right! Irresponsible journalism incenses me to no end! This is my problem with this whole apology thing. Maybe it saved Green Day, BJ, and Warner from a lawsuit, but all of this media attention brings negative exposure to Billie. He does so many nice things for his fans but this is what will be associated with him now. He looks like a typical fucked up rock star who lets fame go to his head. He deserves better than that. Maybe he has been loving the fame, but he has talked about the extra-personal nature of the songs in this trilogy (one about a friend committing suicide, and many about nostalgia in general) and he is probably lost about where he is in his life right now. He is trying to hold on to his youth because his career basically demands it with the kind of band Green Day is. Whatever he is feeling, its a private issue and the media needs to stop propagandizing it all and exercise some fucking self control! Sorry, but the media has been pissing me off lately. I needed to vent it. Any journalists on here, no disrespect. am sure you understand where I am coming from. You managed to voice a lot of my own feelings and frustrations with this, that I was struggling to find words for, myself. Thank you PS. Why is the whole board suddenly in italics WTF? GDC just ate my post.... ARGH. STOOPID BOARD! STOP SWALLOWING EVERYTHING I SAY e2a: Wow....the board actually listened.
.Holly
The part where Billie said "I've been around since 198fucking8" seemed to be because he was frustrated by the shit reaction he was getting compared to the newer artists that were much more popular with the crowd. It still sounds a bit selfish or whatever, but I don't really care, they've all worked damn hard to be where they are. tbh, I was surprised to see Green Day's name included when I looked at the other acts that were playing. No Rhyme Or Reason
I do remember some audio interview from around 2009ish where Billie said that he "Went through a period of not drinking," (before writing 21CB) and that always kind of struck me in the sense that you only consciously make yourself go through completely sober periods if alcohol is actually a problem. So for that reason I'm not surprised, if anything I'm proud because he obviously knows himself. It's the whole admitting you're an American Idiot thing---self-awareness is good. He said that about the writing for 21CB? I didn't know about that. Billie also said it in a few interviews in the last couple of months about this album. He said he went through a period of not drinking during the 21CB tour and while he was on Broadway. That is interesting though, because as you said, it does suggest that alcohol is a problem if he has to purposefully make a point of not drinking. Ryan
Why even post these things? It only feeds the media to give traffic to their bull shit. As much as I don't believe it, I think that if you have quotes from named sources about specifics of the incident that it at least deserves a read for people to form their own opinions. This story is actually somewhat believable to me, even though I hate that site. If he is in rehab, it doesn't necessarilly mean that he is at a facility. If he is going through rehab from home, that would explain why is family is there and how he can be sending out photos of Cleo on Instagram. I'm still just trying to wrap my head around all of this and think that all the info that's out there should be made available for discussion. Rivada
I watched the Youtube clip. If I was promoting a new album and was playing an OLD song while being told that it's too late (and not my fault) to play any NEW songs, I'd be so pissed. Considering the heat of the moment, he managed to mention that he loves the crowd ("god fing love you all") and that he is in no way angry with them ("we'll be back"). I really don't see the big deal - he made some awfully good points.Wow... Usher went way over his time? He's the one who should be apologizing. Billie got off to let others perform. Ryan
Ah dude, just let it drop already. Don't you get tired of constantly correcting people in this thread? I would usually "like" a comment like this, but he has a point. The more we, as fans, keep up the proven lie that their set was cut short, we are just showing our ignorance. Everybody in here needs to realize the situation and look at it for what it is. In my opinion, the fact that their set wasn't cut short makes the whole thing look that much worse. I'm praying that Billie gets through whatever this is, but to say that he was just mad about getting cut short is failure to acknowledge the much bigger problem.
