Vic_Rattlehead
This might sound dumb, but I don't get it. What is 'treatment'? And what is substance abuse? Sorry for being lame Substance abuse is like being addicted to something, it could be alcohol or tobacco, it could be harder drugs. Treatment is a way to try and get rid of the addiction. Hope this helped!
EmmaCharlatan&Saints
He was most definitely drunk. Was it as bad as they're making it out to be? I don't think so. We've seen Billie Joe worse. Exhibit A: The famous "She" video where he's obviously hopped up on something. I would consider that to be WAY worse than what happened Friday. Did the media go crazy after that one? Honestly, I have no idea, I wasn't paying attention back then. He may truly need help. And that's cool, all power to him. But to me, this seems like a PR stunt after a drunken performance. I could very easily be wrong about this though, I'm not one to judge. It just didn't seem that bad from an outsider's point of view. Oh for gods sake. People its not because of the ONE performance that would be stupid if that was the case everyone who ever got drunk once would be in freaking rehab. The Iheart radio moment was clearly a culmination of things and that is what we saw. Are people really that ignorant or stupid to believe hes been sent to rehab/ told to get treatment for being drunk at one show. Dont be so fucking ridiculous. And for those still calling it a PR stunt still get over yourselves and stop making excuses people have problems no matter who they are including Billie and he obviously needs to deal with that right now. PR STUNT = TOTAL UTTER BULLSHIT! God the internet seriously makes me weep for humanity sometimes  :angry
Vic_Rattlehead
Also, in the She video, he sang in key, and his guitar playing didn't suffer.
Whatsername_the13
I'm not sure about it all... I mean, yes, he was drunk obviously. Very drung. And in my opinion I think that Mike and Trè were surprised because of his behaviour, too, even if Mike finally crashed his bass, too. Maybe he did it to hide that something went wrong? I don't know. But I don't know, too, if Billie really has to go to rehab or if they announced it just to calm down people they might have annoyed. I'm really sceptical about all of it.... However I hope that Billie`s fine and if he isn't I wish the best for him.
DannyDirnt
You've got to be joking right? That's mental and selfish. No, I'm not. You misunderstood my post. I didn't say I don't want him to recorver. I said I don't want him to be boring again. He's been sober and funny anyway lately. Also, in the She video, he sang in key, and his guitar playing didn't suffer. I always thought he always sang it out of key in 90s. I mean, the chorus does sound somewhat out of key most times during 90s.

lizziebix
I think it just goes along with being a rabid fan. People know you care. And people loooooove to gossip. Best way to end it is to not engage them. Agreed. I actually knew what she was referring to and answered by saying, yeah I'm fine. Had a great weekend. You? And let it all go. I know she meant well. Especially since I believe I'm the only Green Day fan in the entire office!

Yeah, he's signing off Green Day :/ No. He doesn't seem to be even thinking about leaving in the slightest. If anything I see him more comfortable than ever in the band. Vespertine
Drunk? Yes. Quiet? No. Whatever happens after this, I only hope Billie doesn't go back to be like in 21CB era. I think all three were really boring in that era, they were barely crazy. And I totally love when they say and specially when they do crazy stuff. They were almost like normal men in their late 30s. Oh right. Cause the 21CB Tour was ultra boring. Give me a break.
*withoutadoubt*
I've been mulling this over since hearing this yesterday, and I really just didn't know what to say about it. And only this morning did it really hit me. I'm just sad. Billie Joe is human just like the rest of us. It's as simple as that. Right now, I think all he needs is love and support, which he certainly has from his friends and family. He has lots more support from the rest of his GD family - probably more than he'll ever know. My heart goes out to him and those that love him, and to our little family, too. A lot of us are sad and worried and confused, and it's really comforting that there are so many of us that support each other.

But for the tour I always see them much more serious than in other eras.

No, it probably means he's leaving instagram or something. Why the hell would he leave Green Day?! Geez, people still don't get it. He and Billie has been best friends since they were ten so no he won't leave Green Day.

Bastard of 1967
Or we can take a less crazy talk route and say that he's signing off of instagram for a few days or weeks. They all need a few weeks to circle the wagons, take care of each other, get healthy, and get back up on their feet again. That means getting out of the public eye for a bit. The best we all can do to help is send them our thoughts and wishes, and suppress our natural urge to sling around the internet speculation that's based on nothing but bullshit. As more (and presumably accurate) information is ready to be made public, the band and their families will let us know.
localinsomniac
I interpreted the "signing off" thing as just Mike saying goodnight to the Instagram crowd. Maybe he is taking a couple weeks off, or abandoning his account for good. He seems pretty uncomfortable with some of the comments coming back at his posts. The whole band might do well to try and avoid any unnecessary attention for a while.
Thisnamehasnoreason
i can speak for all of us when i say i love green day we need to pull togeather and show them all the authority the news stations the police WE ARE MORE THEN GREEN DAY FANS WE ARE A FUCKING FAMILY I KNOW THERE SONGS LIKE THE BACK OF MY HAND his lyrics arent just words they are emotions they are life storys we need to find a way to tell him we care

You've got to be kidding me, they were not boring during the 21st CB era! Their shows and interviews were as fun and entertaining then as they've ever been. With or without alcohol or drugs they're entertaining, they're a great band and amusing people because of who they are not because of what substances they take. That's a pretty selfish attitude to have, as if you being entertained is more important than their health. But the fact is it isn't being under the influence that makes them fun and "crazy" anyway so it's really a silly thing to be worried about. No Rhyme Or Reason
I've been mulling this over since hearing this yesterday, and I really just didn't know what to say about it. A lot of us are sad and worried and confused, and it's really comforting that there are so many of us that support each other. That's exactly how I feel too. I'm just sad. It seems too real. Hearing songs about his past struggles, and hearing him talk in interviews about the things he's done in the past and the problems he used to have.... that's somehow easier to comprehend in a way. It's something he overcame and is now stronger for. But now I see that those demons are still there, and he's just human, like the rest of us. I'm proud of Billie for admitting he has a problem and being strong enough to fix it. That's already better than a lot of people can do. I just wish the best for him and his family and friends. It's comforting seeing the picture he posted on Instagram and reading Adrienne's tweets, and I'm grateful we have that. But I'm just so sad right now. For him and everyone else that cares for him. I guess some people don't get it because they're thinking he's a celebrity, you don't know him. And yeah we don't know him, but when I heard the news I was just really saddened. Of course I want to see tha band back in action and having fun, but I really want him to get better. When I was talking about it with my mom today I felt like I was gonna cry and it's weird, but I guess it's because I love GD's music so much. They're a big part of my life that they're almost like a distant family. So the news really ruined my Sunday and Monday. I can't get it off my mind! And I can't read about it anywhere because there's specualtion and too many rude comments. I get it not everyone likes Green Day, but people don't have to make rude remarks. he's still a human who's trying to get help. I'm glad that his fans and family support him through. I just want to log on later in the week and find some good news
