WhiteTim
I Just watched the whole performance in Las Vegas, not just the "breakdown" and I honestly believe that ClearChannel were embarrassed by Green Days performance and they have put pressure on the band to accept responsibility for it. ClearChannel are huge and they can basically tell Warner Bros to do what ever they want them to do or they can then say they'll never do them any favors again, for any Warner Bros act. Warner Bros need ClearChannel more than ClearChannel need Warner Bros. Honestly, if you watch the WHOLE 20min performance, you can see why Billie Joe got pissed off. He had to ASK the audience to stand up. I mean come on, you're at a music festival and you're sitting down? Fair enough if you NEED to sir down, but 90% of the audience was sitting. It wasn't the right atmosphere for Billie. When the camera pans out to the whole audience, people are actually talking among themselves, barely moving. There are a handful of direhard fans in the audience, but for the most part, it looks awful. He asked a woman to dance with him on stage and she refused? WTF? at one point at about the 10min mark he says something about "This is shit" something along those lines. Who can blame him. When the festival realised they were being hated on for "cutting Green Day's set", they were more than likely embarrassed and concerned for their reputation, as Green Day are huge. I mean, even the statement says "We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by ClearChannel and to apologise to those offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas" and to me, that feels like its coming from the festival (And yes, ClearChannel CAN tell Green Days PR to write whatever they like as it's Warner Bros at the end of the day) because IF Bille HAS gone into rehab for substance abuse, who even cares WHY the set was cut short. No one (That I've seen anyway) was offended by the performance, no one but ClearChannel anyway. They more than likely want to try and regain some reputation and place the blame on the band for their set being cut short. To me, they just seem to make too big a deal about whos fault it was the set was cut short rather than on Bille Joes health, which is THE most important thing if all is true. Remember, it's a HUGE festival, lots of celebrities, lots of VIP's. ClearChannel cant have some band show them up. I don't think the festival was the right place for Green Day. They are punk rock and can't be bothered with all the corporate crap. And that's why I love them. This is just my opinion, so it's neither right nor wrong. If Billie Joe does has a problem, I hope to God he gets better soon. CC isn't mad or putting pressure on Warner nor GD hell Ive heard GD more on 94.5 the last 2 days than the last month (Basket Case ive heard repeatly lol) and the set was not cut short at all
captain peroxide
the set was not cut short at all Right, but they went on late, correct? Their time wasn't cut (in fact, I believe they got to play over their allotted time), but they still got less time overall than they were supposed to. anarchistgirlscout
I get being disappointed with the situation, because it sucks. I don't get people stating they are disappointed in a person they don't personally know. That seems like judgemental bullshit to me. I'm disappointed that this news is true and that someone who has unknowingly saved my own sorry life a million times with this music is going through such rough times. Like, I'd clearly rather it wasn't the situation. But, disappointed in the person? Really? How the fuck is that helpful?
A song for the lovers
Drugs hasn''t been confirmed, and substance abuse can mean alcohol. Sorry but when I checked in the dictionary it says drugs abuse, my bad. To everyone that I made him/her angry, I'm sorry!

Fuzz
Well then let me apologize. Still, I would take everything with a grain of salt. It was told directly to me by their rep, who works for Green Day, not for Warner.

captain peroxide
Hopefully it's not serious and just more of exhaustion deal I doubt it. All the build up to the new album release, all the shows and slots they had scheduled, they wouldn't cancel those just for exhaustion. Billie loves to play live, that's obvious, and he was so fucked up in Vegas that he couldn't even do it right. That's indicative to me that he has a problem that needs to be dealt with. Anja
This might not come as a surprise but Billie doing drugs and having to go to rehab is something I never imagined. CocaColaX
Has anyone thought of any ideas of what WE can do for Green Day right now during this crazy time? One thing I thought of is buying two copies of UNO, to show support for the band, and then giving my second copy to someone who I know who might enjoy the album or someone who might not be able to buy one for themselves. I know for some people, buying one album can be a lot let alone two, but I thought this would be one way I could actually support the band right now in a small, but tangible way. Anybody else want to join me? Already have (itunes download and deluxe box set, even though it was coming with a download). Love to Billie and family (and Mike and Tre, of course, I think he would class them as family anyway)

farley drexel hatcher
I think billie will likely be in rehab for longer than a couple of weeks. I'm thinking like 90 days or something. Which postpones a lot of shows and shit, but maybe gets him home in time for Christmas... Dunno about 90 days. Kind of seems like they're doing this now to avoid him being ill for the tour. But obviously if it happens it happens

gerardsangel4977
My thoughts of course go out to Billie, hopefully he'll make a swift recovery and just needs some time away from it all. It makes me feel so weird knowing he's been admitted to 'rehab' as people are reporting everywhere. It's the sorta thing that I see famous people go into that makes me automatically, and extremely ignorantly, think little of them. Completely different when it's someone that I care about. The headlines are making me sick, stuff like 'Billie Joe Armstrong finally goes into rehab'. I wanna go punch the journalists in the face. That "journalist" who wrote that article needs a good kick in the balls....followed by mandatory attendance to Media/Journalism Ethics courses, as they clearly flunked that the first time round. Haven't posted on GDC in ages. Hi to everyone who may or may not remember me. I'm glad everyone is calming down. Adrienne's tweets should be drunk like a nice hot tea. Really. Now, I do have to say, I'm honestly surprised at the uproar this has caused amongst us megafans. The people here who are "disappointed" or "shocked" are making me sad. Most of you should have a pretty fair portrait of Billie Joe's issues in your head. He's been painting it "since 19-80-fucking-8". Have any of you actually really listened to Billie's lyrics? He's revealed so much of himself in them, and now it seems like a lot of fans have never really been listening. His demons and how he channels them so beautifully into music are what make him such a remarkable human being. That's why I respect him so deeply. I would have always put "fucked up" on a list of Billie Joe adjectives. Ha. But so what? Everyone is fucked up in one way or another. What sets this guy apart, is that he has been brave enough to share his raw pain and passion through his music. He makes us all feel slightly less alone and I will always love him for that. And when I see him having to deal with this kind of shit under the ridiculously nosy and judgmental eyes of millions, my love for him grows tenfold. It's why I've been compulsively listening to Green Day all day (not normal for me). I'm in support of sending good thoughts his way, letting his friends and family help him deal with whatever issues he is having, and NOT pretending like I know real fucking thing about it. Rage and Love. <3 I feel the need to hug you for this Any articles I see about this, it's being called a meltdown. I'm very surprised that there haven't been any gimmicky headlines using "Green Day singer has 21st Century Breakdown" or some other variation of that. Actually, I *did* see an article saying that somewhere.....don't remember which one it was, but I definitely remember reading it. May have been a photo caption instead of a headline, though. colour_me_stupid_
Fuck. I heard this last night and was just like "meh" but now that I've been thinking about it.. Fuck. I hope he'll be okay. My dad was in rehab for alcohol abuse, it's not a fun situation for anyone. I do think he'll get through it though, and he doesn't let the media get to him. My thoughts are with him and his family
