ScreamsInSilence815
I'm just shocked that everybody on here is shocked. It's Green Day for christs sake, of course they're on drugs. Having said that it's a shame it seems it's gotten out of control and hopefully he'll be ok I think the majority of us aren't shocked by the drug use (it's been going on for years, as we all know). What shocks us is that it's gotten to the point where it's clearly disrupting his life enough for him to seek help (which is definitely a positive step anyway). I actually don't think he's been 'doing drugs for years'. It just wouldn't have worked with his work load the last few years, it would have caught up to him. I believe he was drug free at least for a few years. Of course he could have relapsed, which is more likely, but it's more likely it's drink. However, we probably won't ever know and it's not fair to really speculate.
Ingrid
Anyone who knows me also knows that I haven't been particularly happy with Green Day lately, but reading this announcement has just made every little doubt I've had about them recently feel completely irrelevant; all I care about now is Billie getting better, and as shocking and heartbreaking as it was hearing about this, it was still such a relief to hear that he's getting help, rather than us getting an announcement of a much, much worse character. This is after all a GOOD thing, him getting help; whatever went wrong that made him need that help is obviously not. And I'm aware that we don't know the extent of the problem right now, but I'm hopeful that they caught this in time and that he will be alright. I truly believe that. Billie Joe is (and probably always will be) the person I care the most about in this world that isn't a close friend or a family member. And I really can't bear the thought of anything truly bad happening to him. I wish him and his family all the best <

X-Saint
It sucks knowing all we can do is give him support and send best wishes to him and his family because most of us want to do more. I do wish him and his family the best though.
Gwen Stacy
Wow I'm watching the concert on youtube and especially during American Idiot he's off key, his words are slow, it's just weird to see knowing all of this. And the rant just is crazy. The first time I saw it I couldn't tell and had in mind the 2010 Steve Jobs rant in Argentina but this was different. Not the same Billie Joe I know and love. But I don't think it's as bad as many of us are making it out to be simply because we haven't seen this even in recent shows, but I can't speak for his private life. Get better Billie, we all love you.
djrossstar
Sound may be too blame too. Both No Doubt and Aerosmith performed and their voclas both sounded awful too.

kellista
I understand that Billie having a rant at the end of the show due to an issue is not a good thing, but I just want to mention how kind it was of Mike to smash his guitar with him. It seems like such a small gesture but you could just tell he knew his best friend wasn't doing well and he wanted to make sure he wasn't left alone. Best wishes to Billie, his family, and the boys. WhiteTim
I didn't say PR stunt. It's PR covering their asses. If a celebrity goes on stage drunk they go into overdrive mode trying to cover themselves from negative press. It happens everytime a popular celebrity is drunk in public. Yes we don't know what goes on behind the scenes but I'm just working off of past observations and experience. Anyway, if Billie does have a problem I hope he gets through it. Usher didnt go over the show started late there for the artists didnt start at the times that were posted and Green Day was only contracted to play 30 mins GD was on stage for 30 mins no sets were cut short... GDM
Sound may be too blame too. Both No Doubt and Aerosmith performed and their voclas both sounded awful too. This is true. I was surprised at how bad the sound was for the performers that I managed to stay awake for.

desertrose
The San Francisco news station just had the story on. Saying the Fillmore show is cancelled and other appearances postponed. They called it a meltdown and is entering rehab for subsatnce abuse. No other details. Sad to hear and wishing Billie Joe the best. Hoping he gets the help he needs. Emilie
Wow, this was such a shock. I know he had a drinking problem around the Warning era but I'd assumed he'd stopped doing any drugs. I don't know what to say. Channel 9 in Australia just previewed a story about this for the news, it'll be on in a minute. Has it been on yet? I just flipped over. farley drexel hatcher
The band who is supporting them at filmore announced it about an hour or so ago. Surely they would know if it were cancelled/postponed?
Hanner
Fillmore show is so far away! it's on Friday... also Wavves just tweeted that they are opening for Green Day at the Fillmore on Friday. So unless he doesn't know anything, the show might still be happening.
