Wtf is going on? Wow

A press statement and lot of GDC deep over-the-top analysis and speculation of what is to happen next.

When I first saw these news I got really scared and made up all kind of nightmare scenarios in my mind. I've known alcoholism (my mother) all my life and it's an awful thing. If Billie has a serious problem, that's awful and feel really sad for him, his family and the rest of the band and I hope he recovers well.

But then again.. when he had this "meltdown", he probably pissed a bunch of people off and maybe even broke a few laws (?).

This could be a demand from the people who owns iheart and maybe also from the record company.

Maybe he just had way to much to drink, freaked out and now he has to pay for it.. I kind of hope so.

people are over-reacting. Stop over-analyzing everything. Billie will be alright. Green Day will not split up.

This.

Because people think Billie's dying from meth abuse, and Mike's leaving the band because of it.

oh right,

well no point guessing or speculating, just gotta wait to hear something and hope for the best. :)

Well if you watched the I Heart Radio festival footage and didn't think Billie was drunk, you have a problem lol. That or you don't consider alcohol to be "substance abuse" which it is an addiction so...

No, I didn't watch it. So we're sure that it was alcohol?

But you're Satan..you should know these things. Get your shit together Satan!

wooooOOOOW. discrimination against the dark lords just.. wow what is this world coming to?

I don't really know what to say, in total shock. I'm glad he's getting help. My heart goes out to Adie, Joey, and Jakob.

OMG you guys don't even know what's going on and you're jumping to conclusions? Just stop. and wait for the band to make any statements. This is how false rumors build up.

The world is a lot more politically correct now. The problem is this got some press and the record company feel like they need to clean up the mess by apologising and excusing the behaviour for substance abuse.

Whether BJ has voluntarily admitted he's had a problem or if he's been forced into it we don't know...

One thing that is for certain, this is fantastic publicity for the new album

Omg seeing people saying they're "disappointed in him" on facebook. Fuck off please.

This. I would be more disappointed if he did nothing about it.

Well alcohol was definitely at least a part of it. That is what is commonly known.

Lol chill out, I'm just paraphrasing this whole thread in one sentence.

Is it strange that the saddest thing I learned from this cesspool of a thread is that Bill Schneider left the band? Because that means no more 'splainin and that makes me sad.

[still wishing Billie Joe the best.]

To be honest I don't think he was sorry for he did. The fact that they had to get a rep to speak on behalf of the band indicates to me that this is possibly Warner's decision. Either way I really hope and pray that he and the band can recover from this.

I'm still in shock over this news. I'm happy Billie is getting help and I hope he has a full recovery. Prayers go out to him and his friends and family.

Oh and fuck off to anyone who's "disappointed" in him. Whatever problem he has, it takes absolute balls to recognize that and willingly go to help for it.

That is what pisses me off. If anything, I'm proud of him for stepping up and realizing it's a problem. Like I said before, it takes gutts to get help. Would those people rather him continue with his reckless and unhealthy ways? Honestly, continuing in that fashion could make him end up in a body bag. Would they be "disappointed" in him then?

maybe mike "signing off" was just him shutting off his phone... it does look like he's on a plane haha

I hope you're telling them that as well as us. I've shared my mind with a few idiots already tonight.

A slightly selfish point I'm making here. One of the things that hits me hardest about this whole thing is that one of the people who have inspired me most throughout the years is (to quote Bad Religion) as infallibly human as the rest of us. Billie's far from perfect, and the fact that I thought otherwise is oh so naive on my part.

While this is all very heartbreaking and everything, I really think this thread needs to take a breather. Step back for a sec, take a deep breath, and try thinking positively while the fact that he's seeking help is the only evidence we have right now. There isn't talk of them breaking up. There isn't talk about him dying. There hasn't been anything said by any of the band members about being unhappy. We're overthinking and stressing out over what might be a shorter amount of time than we thought. Who knows, maybe they'll be okay by the time their winter tour kicks off? Maybe not, but it's a hell of a lot better than stressing over the idea that they may never tour again.

Also stop biting each other in the throat. As far as we know right now, he's seeking help, so let's just hope everything ends up okay.

Is like they had too much too soon in a way... which makes it all worse 'cause they were so happy about everything, the trilogy, the tour... :(

Geee, stop acting like anyone of you knew this would happen or that you felt like there was something wrong (I mean... before this shit began at I heart) , otherwise there would have been some kind of discussion going on, but there wasn't even a single post worrying about something similar (excuse me if I'm wrong) .
