I'm so sad right now. It just goes to show that he's human. All my prayers and love to him and his family right now. Hope he can pull through and make it. My fingers are crossed and God knows my heart is definitely in the right place.

Green Day are pulling off all the publciity stunts this weekend. I see it as no coinsidence that they are all over the press all of a sudden and they have a new album out on Monday.

You my friend are an idiot.

Like some people have said here before, alcohol abuse is very severe. For the ones that keep saying 'hope it's just alcohol', well honestly it doesn't matter. Alcohol addiction is a disease, you have to get treatment otherwise your life will be ruined. If you're an alcoholic you can't drink any more alcohol for the rest of your life. That's if you were successful in getting sober in the first place. But maybe he 'just' have drinking problems and stopped (getting treatment) in time for not becoming an alcoholic. I really hope so for Billie, his family, friends and the band.

I really don't know what to think. Hopefully Billie recovers whatever the reason is for him getting treatment. And that people leave him and his family alone. Well, that's not very easy right now when there's the new album coming out. But let him get the time he needs.

He's probably like my uncle and my Aunt (who have both kicked drinking all together). Billie has a drink or two before the show, but he just doesn't know when to stop.

This is just horrible and it's good he's getting treatment for it:'( Something must be bothering him if he's drinking so much:/ I hate alcohol, allways did, allways will.

Your use of any is a bit extreme. Yes, it's serious, but surely better then being a cocaine addict.

No not necessarily

This might make his fans feel even closer to him after all because it shows he's just a normal guy like any of us.

It's a bit sad because when Billie smashed his guitar, Mike smashed his bass. No one really cared or noticed what he was doing but probably Mike didn't want Billie to feel so alone when he did that.

Seriously, why are you guys worrying about the media? What are you worried about? The fact is even if Green Day were all three of them straightedge and never sipped a beer in their life, everyone's perception is that bands do drugs.

What are you worried that headline is going to say, "Billie Joe Armstrong has similar problems to every frontman in music history"?

I'm not downplaying his problem. I sincerely hope he gets clean. But if you think a band's reputation is destroyed by them having substance abuse problems, you must not be familiar with this genre called "rock n' roll."

Oh my god, I'm so sorry to hear this. :( I honestly wish him all the best and he'll be in my thoughts.

I wish people would stop with the rumours. We don't know that Bologna had anything to do with this. Until we know, it's unfair to spread that shit.

He has been drunk for a few shows in the past month or so. No? If I recall correctly, he was drinking at Shepherd's Bush and Irving Plaza, and now this ordeal with the iHeartRadio Festival.

I'm not trying to start any rumors, but maybe he's doing speed or ecstasy? He seemed really crazy and jumpy on Friday and I know that's an effect of the drugs. Maybe all his excessive gum chewing lately could be a way he tries coping with his addiction? I don't know. Regardless of what is wrong, I hope he gets the treatment he needs and recovers. If that means canceling appearances, tour dates, release parties, etc. so be it.

We need our Billie Joe better!

god please no....

I am going to flip shit if his face is on the cover of every tabloid in the next few days with some ridiculous headline like "Green Day front man spends millions on crack and hookers".

John,

the media likes to spin shit out of control and make a situation look like its something beyond horrible.

THANK YOU.

I'm seriously appalled at the people who say they hope it's "just" alcoholism. They don't realize how serious alcohol addiction is.

either he just takes a short break or this is rly serious and takes atleast months...at this points its hard to predict what will happen next in the future of billie/GD :/

i will have a different feeling while listening to GDs music by now until this is getting cleared up

thats maybe why tré acted a bit irritated at the iHeart show...i saw it in tré's eyes that this wasnt fun anymore..

*is this the first time billie is getting treatment for this? or did he do this before?

My dad's been clean for 20 years, but he still hasn't fully recovered. You can never fully recover.

I'm very sorry that your dad has had problems, but I'm glad he is clean now. You can absolutely fully recover though, as my aunt has and my family is super proud of her for it. Alcohol addiction is very serious, but not impossible to beat. It affects everybody differently though, which is why I am not really "worried" about BJ as much as I am curious about what has been happening behind the scenes.

What made him decide this? We know he's always been a drinker, so I'm wondering if something more serious happened.
