Album rankings now? In that case, and I'm fully aware that the novelty of iUno! hasn't worn off enough for me to neutrally compare it to the others, here's mine.

1. American Idiot

2. Nimrod

3. Kerplunk

4. iUno!

5. Dookie

6. Insomniac

7. Warning

8. 1039 SOSH

9. 21st Century Breakdown

I was hoping i would get my CD from HMV today in the post...but no

Still waiting to hear the songs...

Would you not download them? Seeing as you have bought the album, and it is officially out now. I think that's just punishing yourself for no reason.

Britain is expected to get battered by hurricane type winds tomorrow! They better not blow my ¡Uno! delivery van off the road!

I bought the Deluxe Version of the album from the GD Website. I got my email today with the code to download the album but it doesn't mention anything about the hard copy being shipped. =/.

Anyone shed light on this? When can I expect the hard copy?

I agree with Tre on one of those studio updates, I'm really digging the way Green Day sound right now. It sounds so fresh! The guitar tone has a wonderful steely edge to it and the bass is beastly! And the drums add so much drive to the songs, they're so upbeat. Billie seems to have added a lot more of 'wow, ah, oo' etc to his lyrics too which is fun!

Nuclear Family - 8 cool introduction, the 54321 gets you so pumped for the rest of the album!

Stay the Night - 9 as good as I thought it would be, a plea to enter into the world of UNO

Carpe Diem - 9 so incredible, Tre's drums are the call the arms to enter UNO

Let Yourself Go - 10 full marks just for the line 'shut your mouth cos you're talking too much and I don't give a fuck anyway'. Now fully into the album

Kill the DJ - 7 well we've heard it a lot and not the best song, but gets you in a groovy mood

Fell for You - 10 beautiful song, like 39/Smooth but better. Pretty flawless actually

Loss of Control - 9 the sort of song Green Day can get away with writing as 40 year olds while still being punky

Troublemaker - 8 very cool song, a good one for us fans to learn all the words to and amaze others with our knowledge. End of the solo is sick. Anyone noticed how they've spelt it 'cum' on the lyric sheet (randy :creep: )

Angel Blue - 8 doesn't really go anywhere after a brilliant riff, which is a shame

Sweet 16 - 7 actually a bit repetitive and lacks a bit compared to the others

Rusty James - 9 another beautiful song which sums up the attitude of the album

Oh Love - 6 a bit boring but leads you on to DOS well which I now am very excited for. Uno is the yearning to go out and I expect a good party when I reach Dos!

Compared to their other works it's not as good as the classics (Dookie, Insomniac, Kerplunk, American Idiot) but better than the rest! It's kind of similar to Nimrod but far more exciting and more coherent.

Anyone else noticed how the genre is 'punk' on iTunes (I like it, better than that 'alternative' crap). I think they're trying to get back to their roots, with the quotes on the sticker on the cover, the awesome pictures of the band and the lyric sheet design reflecting Insomniac. Green Day are back!

I might have just listened to Troublemaker 8 times in a row. And I might have danced round the room while doing it. And it might be playing for the 9th time now. How brilliant is this song? It's filled with killer lines from start to finish. This bit...

Easy cum (highly amused that it's spelled that way) and go gonna go it alone

Knock yourself out with a shot of Patron

I wouldn't say I'm straight

'Cause I'm bent out of shape

From now til death do we party

Just before it's too late

...is possibly the most badass thing I've ever heard, it's like some kind of fabulous rap or something. And that gorgeous freaky guitar before it! Not to mention the pure awesomeness of "BMXcellent tits" and "I wanna get inside of you". Officially in love with this song!

Yeah, this is definitely my favourite GD guitar solo ever! The lyrics are pure genious and hilarious

Having painfully, stupidly, stubbornly decided to wait until the release date to hear this, I'm about 77 pages short and a dollar late. Nonetheless, I've had Uno! on repeat all day, so I'll add my brief thoughts for the sake of posterity. In summary: it's fucking great, isn't it? Considerably less tossed-off than I feared too. And so... *deep breath*

Nuclear Family

Good: "I wanna ride the world like a merry-go-round" will play on a loop in your head as you bounce down every corridor and sidewalk from here until the end. I'm living proof. I'm not sure I can escape. I'm not sure I want to.

Bad: Nothing

Stay The Night

Good: They finally ended an album song in the same way they do live! Sounds trivial, I know, but it made for a nice change

Bad: Seems to lack a bit of the 'oomph' of the live version. A bit long too.

Carpe Diem

Good: Amongst the most memorable and life-affirming choruses they've ever done. As mid-life crisis go, "aren't we all too young to die?" is an empowering one.

Bad: Some of the verse lyrics are fairly ropey.

Let Yourself Go

Good: The studio version improves over the live one considerably, since Billie doesn't stop to 'Hey ho!' for 10 minutes. Also liked the crazy "Gotta let it go!" voice Billie does, which mixes it up a bit.

Bad: Really lazy chorus

Kill the DJ

Good: A nice change of pace from the usual pop-punk. Sounds fresh, and the post-chorus bit is killer. Love the way he sings the verses too. The whole thing makes me wanna :bunny:

Bad: The chorus becomes fairly mind-numbing by the end, but perhaps that's the point.

Fell For You

Good: The one-two of the chorus and then the change into "I'll spend the night living in denial" is great. Lovely sound to it.

Bad: Nothing

Loss of Control

Good: The guitar solo, the likes of which we haven't heard since 39/Smooth

Bad: Feels a bit interchangeable with Let Yourself Go. Probably should have picked one or the other, not both.

Troublemaker

Good: Like Kill The DJ (in terms of breaking up the record), except not as good. Reckon "BMXcellent tits" is literally in the top 10 things Billie has ever written, and I don't care who knows it.

Bad: Not sure I could ever play this for anyone who isn't already a fan. Not even sure I can tell you why I like it. I should hate it. I used to hate it. But I don't now. Now I just hate myself

Angel Blue

Good: Nothing in particular.

Bad: It's not bad by any means, but if any of these songs feels like filler, it's this one. I've listened to it 7 times now, and I couldn't even begin to hum you the tune. B-Side stuff.

Sweet 16

Good: Every-fucking-thing  This sounds even better than it did at the secret shows last year. A really sweet pop song, which feels like a more mature version of what they were doing on their first couple of records. It's the Warning incarnation of Dry Ice, basically, which is a good thing. I just constantly want to play this and...

Bad: Nothing

Rusty James

Good: ...this. Last Gang in Town was undeniably a better title, but this remains a great song. Probably the second or third best here. Instantly memorable, sing-a-long chorus. Another life-affirming song on Green Day's most positive record... ever? The irony isn't lost on anyone, I'm sure.

Bad: Needed to be shorter, yet again.

Oh Love

Good: The chorus into solo section sounds amazing, and only gets more amazing live. Another fresh sound for the album, and the natural closing track. Really changed my mind on this since I first heard it a couple of months ago.

Bad: Yup, too long. I remember someone (Matt?) did an edit when the single came out, which works better.

There are only one or two tracks I'd cut, which is about the same good:mediocre ratio as any of their other albums. With just a few tweaks, this could easily have been one of their very best. As it is, I'd still put it about third or fourth overall. If they can manage to sustain this level of quality through Dos and Tre, I'll be astounded and amazed and delighted and orgasmic and and and  . This all sounds so effortless. Reviewers are going to mistake that quality for slightness, which is a shame because - song for song, album after album - there really is no better rock band than Green Day. Here are another 12 tracks of evidence. Roll on Fuck Time November :eyebrows:

I agree that Last Gang in Town is a better title, however it is the name of a song by The Clash so to avoid the inevitable stream of hate from Clash fans they had to chose something else :D

I like your review by the way!

Id give the album a 6.5/10.

A few of the songs (Sweet 16, Rusty James, Carpe Diem) regurgitated melodies from past songs, also this will probably wind up being one of Green Day's overlooked records (ranked with Insominac and Warning). Barely any of the melodies seemed up to par of Green Day's past stuff, and you could probably get burnt out on this

album fairly quickly. This album will be the most commercially successful of the triolgy, but the weakest. If this was the only album that Green Day were going to release id probably rate it even lower, because it sounds so slapped together, but I'm gonna cut it some slack. A lot of it sounds like they just threw songs on their just to fill time and "justify" the triolgy, regardless of quality, which I'm sure a lot of the people here giving it 9s would do that no matter what, since its Green Day. It also seems like its going to be Green Day's worst critically received album yet, as I predicted. The sound wears thin after awhile. This album is in desperate need of different dynamics.

Different dynamics? What about Kill the DJ, Troublemaker and Oh Love?? For me they really add some excellent dynamics and make the album very vibrant and diverse.

By different dynamics I meant different sounds, different influences, different types of music. The guitars seem to to muddle together after awhile.

What big stores will be selling the explicit version? or will they only be selling the clean ones?

None of the albums that make up the trilogy are - individually - going to be as varied as American Idiot or 21CB. Green Day have clearly taken a conscious choice to focus not on creating a broad, well-rounded album, but three very different, stripped back releases. In critical terms, that is a mistake. Reviewers have already commented that the album lacks variety, and will continue to do so for both Dos and Tre. By January, however, things will look a little different. At that point we will be able to consider this project in its entirety, stretched as it is over 36 songs. This is going to be a trilogy that not only welcomes cherry-picking your favourite tracks, but possibly even demands it.

I love Uno. It's a great power pop album from front to back. It isn't necessarily what I'd use to convince someone of Green Day's merits, but that's fine: they already made two of those records. This is something new. Hopefully by January you'll find something you can get into as well :)

Walmart doesn't. You could definitely find it at Best Buy, or FYE, or Hot Topic.
