Sue, you say? :shifty: I do need money  but yeah, I guess that is true

No, I need money! I'm the one who needs to shell out a fortune for these albums! :P

Here in Australia, I paid for the deluxe edition of the box set, i dunno, months ago... I got my little hopes up when there was talk of Oz releasing it last week, I've read through all the reports of those who went and bought theirs from JB HiFi. I can see it and even buy it (again) on iTunes if I wanted. And even though the one I have bought hasn't turned up in the post yet, and the digital version hasn't appeared yet, I'm happy for everyone, really I am!

At least I was as long as i could stream the album from the link on the facebook page. But now that's been removed (not the fb link but the stream on the australian page it linked to).

And now I feel like my supply has been cut off. And I'm going to get cranky with someone at the Green Day Webstore if something doesn't appear soon. Help!

So.....I FUCKING LOVE THIS ALBUM. Just finished listening to it and I feel like I'm gonna wee myself with happiness lol. I thought I already knew how much I'd love it since I'd already heard half the songs in one form or another but hearing the whole lot in full as an album and all the songs I hadn't heard yet too was even more wonderful than I could've ever imagined . It's happy and upbeat and funky and makes you wanna dance, but at the same time there's anger, passion, darkness, love, humour and so much raw honesty. The lyrics are SO wonderfully upfront, they punch you right in the gut. It's an amazing album on it's own, but also feels like a both exciting and ominous intro to a journey that you know is going to have all kinds of ups and downs and positives and negatives. I totally get why they described it as "getting ready for the party". Troublemaker, Kill The DJ and Loss Of Control are probably my favourites so far but I love it all, so many sometimes simple but also clever, interesting and in your face lyrics that I can't wait to get my head round.

It's perfect, it's my favourite Green Day album. And what really blows my mind is the next one is going to be just as good or maybe even better :runaround:

All I can say is, I am genuinely growing more fonder of this record and falling deeper in love each time I listen to it.

I'm starting to like Loss of Control a bit more. Still I don't get the love for Troublemaker and Loss of Control. As for Toublemaker, when I wanna hear a raw song I prefer Brain Stew.

Brain Stew and rare?! lol. I must have been extremely lucky that they played it in Mönchengladbach, eh?

edit: Apparently my brain can't differ "raw" from "rare" and is also not able to read properly. I'm sorry :pinch:

I don't find Troublemaker as a raw song. For me it may be naughty or something like that, but not raw. And for a raw song from this album, I'd prefer Let Yourself Go, that's something with an anger.

Anyone else notice in the background of Nuclear Family when Billie is counting down from 10 it sorta sounds like he's singing "Heyyyy Ohhhh"

I thought about reading all 76 pages, but thought the better of it.

I like this album a lot.

I think that sums it up.

And I'm sure someone has already noticed but doesn't Troublemaker sound exactly like "All the Time"? I love them both so I don't mind :D.

EDIT: I just checked quickly and apparently no-one had noticed that. I mean, Prosthetic Head is also quite similar.

Or maybe I'm just plain wrong....

These lyrics in Loss Of Control made me laugh out loud:

Hey isn't that old what's his face

That I see walking down the street

I'm gonna hide in the shadows 'cause

I really got nothing to say

We never had anything in common

And I never liked you anyway

So awesome and relatable . I just absolutely love how upfront the lyrics are on this album.

Uno is wonderful. The only thing with me is that I've listened to the first five songs on repeat for months on end, so now I have the second half of the record on repeat. The songs I haven't heard before just keep growing and growing on me. Last Gang in Town, Sweet 16, Fell For You are probably my most frequent plays. Last Gang in Town just might be my favorite on the whole record.

I just got mine. I Find it quite funny when I walked into HMV and there's all these albums on the shelf right infront of me when I walked stright in. These albums have dull colours on them. Then you have this really bright green and pink album that slaps you right in the face. Ahhh man I love this band.

finally (after i let the songs grow on me a bit(im sure my opinions about certain songs will change anyways in near future  ) i did my own recap of UNO :D

single-line reaction: its fresh,it is melodic,it makes you feel happier in some cases, its exactly that what i expected

i think its save to say that the average songs indeed sound like a big mix of pre-dookie (guitar-solos) and Nimrod/Warning-era (maybe with a few similarities to AI) + the vocal harmonies have never been better

NF: -best opener since Nimrod. .. favorite moments for me are mike's bass solo, the first verse-line ('merry-go-round') and the countdown at the end  --- 10/10

STN: -i anticipated the most of this song (since i heard the sound-check recording)..first it felt a bit too slow and i was kind upset that the epic breakdown is cut short compared to the live version of this song, but its still too epic (especially the breakdown  )..fav moments are the guitar-melody at the begin (what continues throughout the whole song) and of course the epic breakdown/bridge (2:36-3:42) --- 10/10

CD: -this song just wont get stuck in my head, its sounds too 'average' for me and has not this 'special moment/something', but the lyrics are kinda 'reflective' :) --- 6/10

LYG: -i rly enjoy the fast kick-ass power-songs from GD (this song could fit Dookie/Insomniac) :runaround: this song is kinda 'leading' me throw my days right now ('shut your mouth...' 'let yourself goooo') --- 10/10

KTDJ: -the most experimental song on UNO..and the beat always makes me wanna feel to dance in my room  mike's bass makes me get goose bumbs! --- 7/10

FFU: -this was an unknown song for me (never heard it before) and its a completely surprise..the lyrics and the melody are too catchy  lovely :) --- 10/10

LOC: -kerplunk'ish...and damn, dat solo billie! "we're all crazy!" but like with Carpe Diem, for me it feels like there is missing sth (apart from billies solo ofc  ) its not rly outstanding for me like the other (faster) songs --- 8/10

Troublemaker: -im completely in love with this one..for all the non-fbht-fans (i am a fan) this song gives us a first impression of how DOS could sound like (since DOS is supposed to be sth like the '2nd album' of the foxies  ) tré's drum beating + the guitar pm's (+ this special sounding solo) it always feels like if the sound/music is even moving around my head/room from one speaker to the other one (for example the beginning or 1:49-2:12 minute) --- 9/10

AB: -another fast song  and this time its more catchy than Loss of Control (pre-chorus/chorus) and also the solo+bridge/breakdown are as epic as in STN (1:32-2:13) --- 9/10

Sweet 16: -i listened to the crappy recordings from last years secret shows..and damn, GD rly made the best out of this one and made it perfect..its soo cute and sweet + the whole melodical aspects of this song fit perfectly to the vocals/lyrics ( billie's falsettos are awesome, i also love the guitar solo) nice surprise--- 10/10

RJ: -listened to this too (secret shows) and it was my least favorite one...till now..again this shows how GD can adjust songs as long as it takes to make them perfect..2:31-4:09 are too fuckin perfect (especially billies 'when it doesnt even pooooooound' in the end ^^ ) :shy: --- 10/10

Oh Love: -i just listened too often to this song when it got released as the first single...its still awesome but i always want to skip it because its too long (>5 min?!)...i always have one song on each album i over-listened and want to skip because of this and the length (AI=BOBD...21CB=21Guns) --- 8/10

all in all after my detailed song-ratings i would rate UNO: 9/10 (or 4.5 stars out of 5)

its a (nearly) perfect start for such a musical project..it can only get better :) but sth in my head says DOS will be the worst (will be hard to top UNO), but still awesome ofc.. and TRÉ could be the best or same as UNO (i hope TRÉ wont have too many 'piano-ballad-songs'

and for all GD albums i would make a rating like this(my personal opinion..and yes i know that for example 21CB is 'musicaly' better than stuff like Kerplunk...):

1)Dookie

2)AI

3)UNO

4)1039/Smooth

5)Kerplunk

6)Insomniac

7)Nimrod

8)Warning

9)21CB

DOS??

TRÉ??
