¡UNO! Album

I just posted those as examples since there haven't been that many reviews released yet.

There was one from Q Magazine that I was going to post, but it doesn't seem to have been release yet, but the score is on Metacritic.

They gave it a 6/10.

The Guardian one is a fair review, although short and not particularly insightful, that's what most of their reviews are like though. That may contradict my second point. It doesn't matter what they give it, a 2, a 6 or a 10, but why they give it that. If you're going to review a record in any way, positive or negative, you have to provide evidence you've actually listened to it. Somehow that prick got paid to shit out that Independent review, and that just makes me mad.

Btw you've given me an idea to make an alternate 21st Century Breakdown tracklist with some American Idiot tracks and b-sides in there, it will be like the musical but without the guy from The Newsroom singing it.

I feel like the whole album is Billie at his high school reunion. He see's his high school crush "Sweet 16" :creep: , he see's the old assholes he knew "Loss of Control" :angry , he sees his old friends that he doesn't talk to anymore "Rusty James" :ermm:

I first listened to a good quality version of it last night and, just wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. This is really the first release that I have waited for and followed for a long time and I definitely was not disappointed. I just thought I might throw in my two cents about this album.

The first thing that struck me about this album was it's energy and pace. All the songs are filled with so much energy and a lot pace which I absolutely love. I can also hear hints of all their other albums in these songs as well, but Dookie is the one that stands out. But yes there are some songs on there that sound like and have a similar feel to older songs, but Kill The DJ and Troublemaker are different and they're fucking awesome.

The solos. They're very simple but they sound amazing and it makes me want to listen to them over and over again.

Billie's vocals. They sound amazing. In Fell For You and Sweet 16 I just love his voice.

So now here's my thoughts on the individual songs:

Nuclear Family:

An amazing way to start off the album. I've loved every album opener they've released and this is no exception. I love the verses especially when the extra snare beats are added. Stand outs are Billie's vocals and Tre's drumming.

Stay The Night:

Absolutely love the intro and the way it kicks in. It has so much energy and really packs a punch. This was one of the songs that I absolutely loved when they played it and the live shows and was really excited to listen to this for the first time. Definitely one of my favourite songs on this album. Love the vocal harmonies on this as well and the bridge.

Carpe Diem:

Another song that I was very excited to listen to after hearing the live versions. Love the lyrics and is just a strong song in my opinion. I can hear hints of 21st Century Breakdown and 39/Smooth for the solo.

Let Yourself Go:

My favourite of all the singles. At its release, I was having quite a hard time dealing with idiots at school, and the lyrics to this song was exactly how I was feeling at the time and I immediately connected to it. The music is also amazing and once again the pace and energy in this song is through the roof. Short and punchy, just how I like it.

Kill The DJ:

This song was the one I was looking forward to the most after listening to the trailer for UNO!. This song is obviously in a style that they have never done before, and I love it when they do this, because they always seem to pull it off. I absolutely love it. The four on the floor beat matched with the solo just sounds eargasmic. Love the lyrics and the meaning that it has behind it.

Fell For You:

Never heard this song before yesterday and I really didn't latch on to it like I did with the past 5. After more listens I'm starting to enjoy it a lot more and I can't help but smile when I listen to it. Billie's voice on this really gets to me, it jut sounds so beautiful.

Loss of Control:

Don't see why many people dislike this song, I love it and think it is one of the stronger ones on the album. It sounds like it could have fit on Nimrod or American Idiot, but some parts of it are very new and just sound awesome. Lyrics are pretty awesome too. The bit in where it is just Mike and Billie singing sounds so good and it really shows how good Billie's voice is.

Troublemaker:

This song has probably been played the most so far out of the lot. I absolutely love this song and it is just so damn catchy. Once again, this is a very different thing to what they would normally do, but they've pulled it off once again and it just sounds terrific. Sounds very Foxboro Hot-Tubs and has the best solo out in the whole album. Love how mellow the song feels and just makes me want to relax. Probably my favourite with the next song....

Angel Blue:

WOOOOOW. This song blew me away. So fast. So catchy. So awesome. Now this is pump-ass Green Day right there. (Hey Matt, 'pump-ass' is really catching on now :P ) Love everything about this song. Sounds very Dookie-ish but with a fresh clean sound that is spectacular and I will probably never get sick of this song.

Sweet 16:

Not a stand out for me but still a great song nonetheless. Very calming song and easy to listen to.

Rusty James:

Well I can definitely see why this is many people's favourite song. Just sounds spectacular and it just sounds like kick-ass Green Day to me. The chord progression reminds me of a few MCR songs in the verses. I can imagine this song being the closing credits song in films.

Oh Love:

An amazing cliffhanger for DOS! and just makes me even hungrier for the next one. Great way to finish off an album and leave us waiting on edge for the next one.

I actually cannot get enough of this album, can't wait for DOS! in November!

I'm going to go and buy the CD now and hopefully with a shirt. :P

Anyone listened to the clean version of Uno? What are the big differences?

Or better yet, anyone know where we can listen to it?

Not until the US release I guess? Or are there other english speaking countries that sell the censored version as well?

First listen I was a bit concerned that I wasn't gonna really get into it. Then I realised there's been perhaps three songs in their entire catalogue that I'm not a fan of, I just have to get used to them, learn the lyrics. I'm starting to really love it now. I think once I've got the physical copy and have it on my iPod I'm gonna absolutely adore it.

Just heard Loss of Control for the first time: Cool song but not as awesome like the rest of the album.

and I also heard Rusty James for the first time: I love it! Why isn´t this the last Song on the Album?! It would be a better transition to iDOS! as Oh Love

Now I heard all of iUNO! :D Can´t wait for iDOS!
