That Dude
Boo hiss. Green Day is whatever the hell they want to be; they could pick up Freese and Matika as "official" members too and I'd be just as delighted for them. If Jason's contributing so much of his own talent to the band now that he's earned his stripes and his own spot on the marquee, what right do any of us have to bitch that "no, you guys can't do that"? As long as we don't lose any member, everything is alright. Hasn't Billie Joe said that the only way anyone is leaving green day is in a coffin? Hope any "new" members will feel the same. WestboundSign!
So now, after waiting until today, I'm ready to post my opinion in here! First of all, the boxset didn't disappoint me at all. iUno! is here, even with a patch and a few buttons.. and the booklet looks freaking awesome! So having said that, Green Day didn't disappoint me either. Can they even disappoint me? It really seems they can't. Their music will never fail to amaze me, it seems. And I'm being completely serious. iUno! is a wonderful album - from front to back. You can easily relate to most of the songs, just because they're so personal and simple. I love that. I'm trying to tell you something about how I feel about each song now, if anyone cares. But I won't rate them, I just can't and don't even want to! Nuclear Family: If you ask me, this is the perfect opening track for this album. Might simply be because of the more than awesome line "Gonna ride the world like a merry-go-round" .. but I don't know. It's a powerful start into the album, sounds like the Green Day we're used to but still slightly different. Just as if it wants to tell the listener in which direction we're going here. Stay The Night: I really don't think I have to say much about this song. From my very first listen back in 2010, I loved it. It sounds so special, extraordinary and I just can't listen to it without smiling. Weird, but true. I believe this will become of those unforgettable Green Day "hymns"! Carpe Diem: I really like this one. Some people may say it's a worn out subject, but in my opinion, it never is. I often have to remind myself that I should seize the day, so it's super relatable. I love the lyrics and also what's written in the booklet before. "Too young to die? Well I say "Aren't we all too young to die?" Does the future have enough time to live in the moment?" Let Yourself Go: They lyrics to this one are amazing. I guess everybody has this one single person he associates with the song. And it's a brilliant live track too! Kill The DJ: Most different and extraordinary song on iUno!, I'd say. But this was obvious. Once again I adore the lyrics and how they also seem to be musically expressed, at least in some way. Fell For You: Definitely one of the sweetest songs I've heard in a while. And yeah, I fell for Fell For You. Right away when I listened to the snippet from the radio interview back when. Favorite part might be "Making paper planes just for awhile". Billie's voice sounds awesome when singing that line! Loss Of Control: The only track I didn't know at all before listening to this album. I've heard a lot of negative things about it, but they're not fitting for me. There's a special sound to it and I just love the lyrics. Something I can relate to so well, once again. Troublemaker: Has to be my least favorite on iUno!, though it's still a really good song. Especially musically. Can't start off too much with the lyrics, but it's a super catchy song! Angel Blue: This track rocks! I don't know what else to say, really. Totally like it! Sweet 16: Billie's voice! That's what came to my mind in the very first second. It's so poppy, I could definitely see it somewhere in the charts. But he's done so well. I don't know where that special sound comes from, but it's fascinating. Love the lines "Old days are fine and left so far behind. From California to Jane St.". Rusty James: Together with Stay The Night, this has to be my favorite off iUno!. I was one of the people always saying "Why is there no Last Gang In Town on that tracklist? I want that song, I really want it!" and that hasn't changed yet. The studio version is beyond awesome, it sounds so bitter yet kind of upbeat. "And your heart can't even break when it doesn't even pound." Oh lord, that line! Oh Love: Love this one as a closer. It's one of these songs where you just have to sing along.. A perfect ending. And since we all already know Oh Love, that's all I'm gonna leave here! All in all, I have to say: Thank you, Green Day. Thank you!

sampy
Yes, I just bought it! The booklet says: "The album is dedicated to family, friends, fans & punishers", I think that's cool And like Billie said in some interview that they took cover photos themselves, the booklet says also: "Cover photo: Billie Joe Armstrong"
Homero
Fuck. So I was at work from 8-4 today, and on the way home I got caught in two hours worth of traffic. But when I walked into my room, Uno was there on my bed cause my dad went out and got it for me. Played it all the way through without skipping any songs or stopping, and it was worth the wait. I just want to keep playing it over and over. Loss of Control is definitely a standout for my on the album. I'm just so in love with this album. GODD DAMMIT. your dad is awesome! Also, I'm in love with the album too.

Homero
More reviews of Uno! (Sorry if they had been already posted): http://www.bringthen...day-uno-dos-tre http://www.craveonli...green-day-iuno- http://www.mercuryne...back-basics-uno EDIT: Also, I read a couple of reviews yesterday: -Some reviewer said something like Kill The DJ is the new Basket Case haha -I always laugh when it says "For fans of: My Chemical Romance, Sum 41...(etc)" it's like, Green Day inspired all those bands (and whatever these bands do, Green Day does it better). Sorry if I offend some fan with that statement, but it's just my opinion (I also like those bands).

Bastard of 1967
Ok, that's it, I'm now officially a goner for Fell For You. The choral orchestration literally brings tears to my eyes, there is something about how the harmonies play off Mike's Insomniac-era bass line that simply makes your head melt into a giant puddle of goo. Question - The band brought Tom Kitt in to help with some of the orchestrations again, didn't they? If so, it shows -- and particularly on this track.
