Todd
So, I think after I get Uno! and listen to it a couple (hundred) times through, I'm going to do something I normally do after months of owning new Green Day stuff and listen to every studio album straight through. I don't know if anyone else does this, but listening to every song they've done straight through really lets you see the evolution and connections between them. Plus everything stays fresh because it's not the same 40 or 50 minutes. It'll be closer to 6 or 7 hours with Uno! Luckily, my job allows me to drive about 5 hours a day so I can easily do it in about 2 days. Oh but God help me when I attempt to listen to all 11 albums front to back... My dad's house is a six hour drive, and I can usually start from 1000 Hours and go straight through to St. jimmy. But now it's impossible to listen to every studio recording back to back especially with three (four?) new albums. OMG I am so pumped for Quatro. that is not the right size for a dvd. B-Sides anyone? with more than 70 songs, there's no way they only picked thirty to include. You can't just scrap 40 songs

MikeyB99
I guess being one of their "older" fans. 30+, I'll give my thoughts on the album. Now if we were rating all Green Day songs on a scale from 1-10. Most would agree the 10's would be something like Basketcase, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, 21 Guns.... And a 1 being something like Take Back? With 5 being average. Give or take a song here or there. I know everyone's taste differs, but I would say most would look at it like that. I think a lot of people will agree that iUno! doesn't have a song that compares to any of their "10's". So basing it off of that knowledge I'd rate iUno! like this. Nuclear Family 5.5 (I'd say this is a very average style Green Day song, nothing brilliant, but fun none the less) Stay The Night 7.0 (One of the best on the album. Fun to sing along to) Carpe Diem 4.5 (Sounds too much like suffocate. Not a bad song, but nothing special) Let Yourself Go 6.0 (I like this song. Old Green Day sound that I've been missing for a while. Though I don't know if I need to hear him repeat the title of the song so much) Kill The DJ 3.0 (My 2nd least favorite song on the album. Not sure why this was chosen as a single, but to each his own) Fell For You 6.0 (Like this song alot too. Probably would have rated it higher if it didn't sound so much like Walking Alone) Loss of Control 4.5 (It's an okay song. A slightly below average Green Day song. Troublemaker 2.0 (My least favorite song) Angle Blue 7.0 (I totally dig this song, one of the few that doesn't remind me of past Green Day songs) Sweet 16 6.5 (Another one of the better songs on the album. Enjoy hearing a different sounding Billie) Rusty James 7.5 (Probably the best song on the album. Not quite as fun as Stay The Night, but a stronger written song) Oh Love 6.5 (A good song, though I'm not sure why everyone kills this tune. The bridge of this song might be the highlight of the album) Now before you all go destroying me, because I didn't rate all the songs 9's, and 10's.... Just remember this is relative to other Green Day albums.... The album as a whole, is a decent Green Day record. It's certainly not close to their best, but it's not the worst either. I think it does what it sets out to do. Just be a fun record. I'm anxiously awating iDos!

josh_oliday
NME never reviews Green Day well. Seems as if they make a point to continue doing so. But didn't they give 21st Century Breakdown an 8/10? Now I understand, different reviewers and all that jazz, but I think that excludes the use of the word "never" :-P
gerardsangel4977
Wow, that one and Rolling Stone's are the two best I've seen so far. NME was the coldest and they seem to be in a distinct minority. Looks like most of the reviews are in the 4 to 5 star range.....yes!! That's cause NME is too cool and hipster for Green Day

Homero
There's a lot of positive reviews about the album! and that huffington post says that Green Day re-uploaded the American Idiot video with an uncensored version (remember a few weeks ago they uploaded a censored version?). What I find weird is that they havent uploaded the video to the official account till now EDIT: noooo don't spoil me the booklet!! haha

As another somewhat older GD fan that has been with them since '94 and Dookie, I could not disagree with you more. Haha. UNO has easily become my favorite album of theirs. AI and 21st CB are tied for 2nd with Warning/Insomniac tied for 3rd. Nimrod is last. UNO has one thing going for it that none of their other albums have for me, and that is the fact that there isn't a single song that I skip on this album. Every other album has AT LEAST one song that I skip every time I listen to the album. The tracks on UNO are so fucking fun, the harmonies are out of this world, Billie's voice is better than it's ever been, and the guitar tones are unmatched in their pureness and quality. Definitely respect your opinion and can understand your train of thought, but this is definitely not a run of the mill Green Day album in my mind. Scott F
Having listened to the album I can see 100% where the good and bad reviews are coming from, for me personally highlights are Nuclear Family and Rusty James; not so keen on Trouble Maker though. Main things about the album is it is fresh and catchy which is really brilliant and I prefer it over 21CB but at the same time I was left slightly disappointed. Why = With AI and 21CB there were real epic songs like Wake me up or 21 Guns which I just feel this is missing and would really finish it off well. Just my opinion though Got Uno How was was JB Hi Fi charging?

Guest
I was hoping not to spoil the album designs on GDC (Even though I expected it) but I heard that the Stay the Night video was around so my first thought was to come here, and behold, my eyes aren't virgins to the UNO casing design. ):
