your right everyone has an opinion and when it comes to music it is hard to say who is right or wrong!, but giving a 9/10 for 1039 in my opinion is not very objective. Let me put it this way I love Nimrod, it was my first Green Day album but when i compare to American Idiot, it is hard for me to say that it is better than AI. What im just questioning is your musical objectivity when reviewing an album, as a pose to your subjective and passionate reviews.

An even greater thing about opinions is that, by nature, they are subjective. Maybe your opinion is based on technical perfection, and maybe someone else's is based on the album sounding good. If you want to argue the semantics of opinions, PM me and I'll be happy to engage when I have some free time. Just because your subjective opinion is different from someone else's subjective opinion does not make either one any less valid.

Now, for my own two cents on the album, this was a way stronger collection of songs than I thought it would be. I was pleasantly surprised to find songs that I wasn't at all enthused with from the live versions we'd heard turned out to be much improved in a proper recording, in some cases, even brilliant :D I do think maybe the middle portion of the album could do with a slight reordering to make it flow better, but individually, all the songs are very tight musically with some truly great melodies throughout. The only real weak-point that I see is, as has been said many times, the lyrics, which are a bit repetitive at times and completely off the reservation at others  But there's some great lines in there as well too, so even that aspect isn't a total bust.

This is subject to change, of course, but my first impression is that the album highlights are:

-Stay the Night

-Rusty James

-Fell For You'

-Kill The DJ

-Oh Love

Nuclear Family - 10/10

Stay The Night - 8/10

Carpe Diem - 8/10

Let Yourself Go - 9/10

Kill The DJ - 8/10

Fell For You - 9/10

Loss of Control - 10/10

Troublemaker - 7/10

Angel Blue - 10/10

Sweet 16 - 4/10

Rusty James - 7/10

Oh Love - 6/10

I don't get the hate for Troublemaker, nor the love for Sweet 16... But otherwise the album is pretty fucking solid.

I'm sad to say I was kinda dissapointed by Fell For You, after hearing the clip of it from BBC radio I was REALLY excited for it, but it just turned out being that same minute and twenty seconds being repeated.

Same here. I still like that song a lot and it's one of my favorites from the album, but that's the only thing I was a little bit disappointed in it.

For me, the album is great. I loved all the songs, Oh Love is the only I didn't like too much, but still is good. My favorites are Stay The Night (I love this song since I've heard it first time in 2010), Carpe Diem, Fell For You, Sweet 16 and Rusty James.

Now I'm excited to hear ¡Dos!

is the album already out in stores? An almost-friend of mine just posted this on instagram:

What have I missed?

"Almost-friend" hahaha.

I don't know if it is in stores yet though.

Me neither! I think if Troublemaker was on Dos it'd be liked a lot more. It's such a funky little tune. Sweet 16 is nice but I don't like it nearly as much as other people seem to.

"I've got an impulse so repulsive that it burns, i wanna break your heart until it makes your stomach churn." stay the night. That's probably my favorite lyric on the album. it's so personal and genuine feeling!

I read those lyrics on youtube as well, I just think churn should be turn :P "Made my stomach turn" is a much more common saying than churn.

My favorite string of words on the entire album is "whiskey sour adventure hour," purely because I've had one or two of those and can completely relate. Whiskey (or, in my case, bourbon) with lemon juice and simple syrup makes for some wild times.

I really really love how Billie sings the line "Do you wanna share a ride and get the fuck out of this join?". Just died of awesomeness and returned from hell to post
