This is the fifth time I'm listening to the album and I have yet to skip a track. I even listen to "Oh Love". Gotta say, "Oh Love" as a single, not so great..."Oh Love" as an album conclusion, pretty fucking great. This album flows so well from song to song. I think the reason why I absolutely adore it is because its rooting back to what the band used to talk about in their older songs; girls, angst, love, and fun and with their current pop rock sound, it's a combo that hasn't disappointed me at all. Don't get me wrong, I love 21CB and AI, but just knowing that the guys made three albums just doing whatever the hell they wanted to do is amazing. There's no script and I'm all for it.

Indeed! I want him to do it also!!

I did a "first impressions" post in this thread earlier this morning. You can find it here. I'll dig deeper into the lyrics as time allows.

I wonder how Dos is supposed to sound; hopefully it's similar to this!

We have already heard some ¡Dos! songs :ermm:

More Foxboro-Hot-Tubs-ish.

I did not and won't listen to songs from dos until we get the official singles or something on the Green Day Channel. I'm not that tempted to hear bad quality recordings :P The only song from the 2 other albums I heard is 99 revolutions, but that was live and I barely remember how it goes since everything from this night just floods into one big blurry memory.

Uh, is that a good thing? And are they similiar to the sound of this album?

Can't get Rusty James out of my head!! Kinda wishing I hadn't listened to Oh Love, Kill the DJ and Let Yourself Go so much now, love them all, but feeling the need to "catch up" on the rest of the album before I can listen to those again. :-/

I don't think I want to stream it yet. I'm guess I'm a little resistant to things changing (streaming an album a week before it's out). I'm really excited to purchase the CD and put it in my car stereo and blast it all the way home.

Well, I couldn't resist anymore. I came from school and saw it on GDA and meh, pushed the play button. Guess what? I'm not even sorry. :runaround:

So after the first listen, all I can say is well done Green Day. I like it, very much!

Songs on Uno are really catchy and energetic. I'm not going to compare it to any other album. For favorites ones I pick Fell For You, Nuclear Family and Carpe Diem. On the other side, Kill The DJ and Troublemaker are kinda last favorites, but I'm sure giving Troublemaker another chance, since it was the very first listen.

Oh Love by itself is a beautiful song to me and I've never actually understood all the hate that song gets. Fits perfectly for the end of an album.. And here come the only objection, this album has the end.

I was,too but...you know how these things go.

I just said fuck it and hit play on the stream on GDA.

Ho...

Ly...

Fuck!

Fantastic. I have no problem with anything other than it was over too quickly. Will post more reactions when I can listen to it through again and have access to an actual keyboard. Suffice to say that AI will always be my favorite album, past, present and future, but Uno will probably go down as second or third until I can hear Dos and Tre.

I figured I'd go ahead and listen to the thing most of the way through since this is an official stream from Green Day. I HAVE NO REGRETS!!!

I love the transition from the end of Nuclear Family to Stay The Night. So far that's been my favorite. The one from Kill The DJ to Fell For You is a little odd, though, just because the songs are so different. I don't mind it.

Nuclear Family is a great opener. It just builds the energy for the rest of the album. Stay The Night is pretty good, but I almost like the live version better. The studio version kind of almost drags, but just a little. Carpe Diem is excellent. It's everything I hoped it would be. Let Yourself Go and Kill The DJ are a nice mix at their places on the album. I just love Fell For You. Lyrically it's wonderful. It's reminds me of something you'd find written by the Who. Loss of Control is alright. I'll probably like it more as I listen to the album more. I adore Troublemaker. I liked it from the first time I heard it, and something about the solo and the part after it is just perfect. Angel Blue is awesome. It makes me think that Green Day from the early 90's married a totally new sound. Sweet 16 is just adorable. The lyrics are so sweet. Rusty James is really good, really bitter, but really good. It's like Scattered and 86 married something from 21st Century Breakdown to create an interesting mix that seems to span Green Day's whole career, from the old sound to a new sound of theirs we have yet to hear. I'll always have a soft spot for Oh Love. It's just a perfect closing song for the interesting ride that is Uno.

Nuclear Family: 9/10

Stay The Night: 8/10

Carpe Diem: 10/10

Let Yourself Go: 8.5/10

Kill The DJ: 8.5/10

Fell For You: 10/10

Loss of Control: 8/10

Sweet 16: 10/10

Rusty James: 10/10

Lyrically, Rusty James is the best song on the album. It's very autobiographical and nostalgic, and you can hear the emotion in his voice. The song has grown on me, but it's still not one of my top favorites on the album.

Here's my ranking of the songs for now based on the 3 listens I gave the album. All 12 songs in my opinion were great, and I have no songs I'd consider weak or skipable like 21CB

Top 4 - Stay The Night, Angel Blue, Sweet 16, Let Yourself Go

Middle 4 - Fell For You, Rusty James, Troublemaker, Nuclear Family

Bottom 4 - Kill The DJ, Loss Of Control, Oh Love, Carpe Diem

In the meantime, I've decided in the week before it officially comes out, I'm going to only play 30 second snippits of the 12 songs from 45 seconds to 1:15 seconds (which, by listening to amazon.com's song samples back in the day, is how I eventually convinced myself to buy Nimrod!) It'll be both nostalgic, and prevent me from overplaying the songs before they're supposed to come out.

I'm so glad there's three albums. If this had been the only one, I'd be very disappointed. Too much filler.

Yes, I know if they had only released one, the track listing would be different.

I find it interesting that so many people don't seem to enjoy Oh Love very much. I can understand why, but for some reason that song just got under my skin in a profound way. I was in tears the first time I heard it, and I'm sure it'll choke me up when I see it live in less than 2 weeks.
