really? i've never had that happen..

Try buffering a movie on youtube in 1080p, then do it when you're downloading a torrent with max speed. It of course depends on your connection, I can sense a major difference.

This album is fucking superb. :)

As regards the reaction on here to 21B, I think most people loved it - not everyone, of course, and within that there were songs that divided opinion, like See the Light, 21 Guns, Last of the American Girls. I particularly remember this one comment on GDA that was like 'Piano?? Has Green Day grown a vagina? Is this what I have to look forward to in my late thirties??' - yeah, that one stuck in my head, lol!!

Everything about that release was so different - the secrecy, the big weight of 'the follow-up to American Idiot', all that stuff. The first thing we got was the lyrics on the official site, in advance of the music, and it was like reading a book of poetry - dark, beautiful, apocalyptic poetry. When the album came, there was the thing that there were so many songs, and each of them dense and multi-dimensional - Know Your Enemy was basically the only simple track - so that people had to think about them and process them. So like, whereas Uno is immediate and people are having an immediate response to it, 21CB took its time ; opinions came in layers as people grappled with the songs.

I gave in; I couldn't wait for my pre-order, haha. So, I just finished my first listen and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The songs really work well together and the album feels like... well... an album, rather that just a collection of songs (which was my main concern). The only song I wasn't absolutely crazy about was "Loss of Control." There's just something about the "We're all crazy, you're all crazy" line that I didn't love.

The lyrics may be simple (for the most part), but they just feel right. BJ isn't trying to change the world or start a revolution, he's (in my mind) simply speaking his mind and if other's can relate, awesome, if they can't, so be it.

If I had to pick a favorite off the record, I'd go with "Stay the Night" (no surprises there). Also, I was surprised how much I liked "Sweet 16."

TL;DR version: I give it an 8/10, after my first listen.

Not to turn this into a 21CB thread, but there were three legitmately good, non-blatantly-ripped-off songs on that whole album: Eulogy, Horseshoes & Handgrenades and Before the Lobotomy. Everything else ranged from blah (Christian's Inferno) to blatant rip-off (21CB title track) to AI-wannabe (21 Guns, EJN, Peacemaker, Restless Heart Syndrome, See the Light...fuck, you get the point). It's shit. Pure and utter shit, which is why it's nice to get a straightforward, simple, fun album instead of one that's breaking under the weight of its own self-righteousness.

I'm really beginning to like Uno. Like, really beginning to like it. In some ways, it's the spiritual successor to Dookie or Kerplunk with the simple riffs and beats behind it.

It's just to illustrate that if you're downloading, you can't just put it on 1080p and watch away, you have to give it time to load.

Ah alright. imo 1080p is worthless unless you have like a T1 connection - even then it is still a little sketchy. I'll stick with my 720

Just finished! And I wanna listen again, but I'm going to try to limit myself until the release date.

Initial thoughts:

I think the first half is stronger than the second, but I was pleasantly surprised by Loss of Control (guitar solo in particular) and Rusty James.

If you told me Angel Blue was an unreleased track from their earlier days, I'd believe you.

I like the vibe of Fell For You, but for some reason it just feels out of place.

This truly feels like getting ready for a party and I love it!

This has the classic Green Day feel with a naturally more mature spin on what Green Day does best: party!

It's full of energy and a lot to digest on first listen, which is surprising since it's simple compared to the previous two albums. I think it has to do with all the tracks being mid tempo to fast.

I don't agree with the song choices, but I agree. I wasn't really a fan of 21CB overall. UNO is a breath of fresh air.

but what is the meaning of rusty james? i didnt get it.

Billie Joe said in Guitar World "The song title is the name from a character in Rumble Fish" "The song itself is about my old punk-rock-scene and the survivors of it-the intial starters of that scene and how some of them didn't really live up to their promises and just became finger pointers alittle bit. And then they disappeared, and just the feeling that Green Day were still here, where are you? What happened to the values that you were bringing to the table? Now you're gone. All the things you were telling people to fight for, and you're not fighting for them anymore. So that's probably one of the more bitter songs I've written"

I'm not saying I agree, but I think Ben got the serious face on.

I'm really enjoying the album, oh my fucking gawd, I feel like my fandom has been reborn.
