¡UNO! Album

I meant it like it was turning into a bad discussion (if someone's sharing an opinion, people shouldn't come and say "oh, who cares anyway") We were just saying that we don't like those kind of mistakes, it's not like it's something "unforgivable". Of course there can be last minute changes and all. That's why I appreciate the booklet so much, to have the right lyric. :)

Oh I wasn't trying to argue, I was trying to give my perspective and i thought the quote from BJA would at least explain why these differences are there.

Peace

whats does it mean?!

if i understand correctly they're apparently talking about a disc purchased in Israel, so could it be that different international subsidiaries of Warner Bros used different colors in manufacturing? Or that the one that distibutes to Israel did? Im guessing here.

I already want a single from "Dos!" :D But I'm so happy with the album, it grows on me every time I listen to it.

Same! I'm like, biting at the bit here. I don't want to listen to "Lazy Bones" but at the same time, it's high time we had a single from the second disc D<.

But ¡UNO! is so awesome it will definitely hold me over in the mean time.

whats does it mean?!

It means there was either a printing error or it's a possibly illegal copy of the album, or maybe it got album confused and thought it was Dos

Kill The DJ is kind of the worst, barely understandable

In the case of Kill the DJ, I'd be willing to bet Warner wanted a little bit of censorship, because some of those lyrics might be considered disturbing by parents or whoever. It would be along the lines of Platypus, where the lyrics are not included in the booklet at all.

I was just thinking- the lyrics seem to kind of indirectly relate to the story in Rumble Fish, while actually being about the old Gilman scene.

Does anyone else think Billie Joe changed the title from Last Gang In Town partly because "Rusty James" sounds a lot like "Rusty chains"?

No, because then the song would have been called Rusty Chains

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. "Rusty James" is a character, and the fact that Billie says "rusty chains" in the song my have made him think of the character and thus change the title. Like a play on words that happens to have double meaning in the song. Clever!!

Maybe, but I think it might've also had something to do with the fact there is a Clash song called Last Gang In Town.

But a lot of songs double up on names

I have only 1 complaint on ¡UNO!, and it's big deal. The album is too short. I want/need more songs pleasee!! :runaround:

I officially have full access to this thread and all the UNO live videos!! YAY

So first reactions:

I LOOOOVE this album, soo much! I was smiling the whole time during my first (and only yet) listen! I am soon going to hear it a thousand times more, of course!

All the songs are fantastic, Nuclear Family was so fresh to my hears that I almost started crying from happiness  Sweet 16 made me go "awww" and oh god! So many emotions during Stay the Night, Carpe Diem and Rusty James...

All I can say is that it was worth to wait one week after the release date to have the CD in my hands and to listen to it =) It's a special moment to grab the booklet and feel all the magic of the first listen  Idk, hearing separate songs first is just different from hearing it all at once as a whole.

GREEN DAY ARE BACK! And there are still 2 more to go! ahhhhhhhhhhhh

And? Insomniac is fine. So maybe it's because this album is new, I start to listen and it finishes so fast...

And...you're complaining that 41 minutes isn't enough, when it's not even close to their shortest album.

Did anyone notice that they play a trailer for UNO as a advertisement on Youtube!?

It's a light-hearted complaint. I like the album so much that I wish it could be longer, you know what I'm saying? ;)

Just finished my 6th or so listen to the album in full, and I have now realized just how good it is. I used to be meh about songs like Troublemaker, Fell For You, and Oh Love.... but now... I like every single song A LOT. This is truly a remarkably excellent album, especially in the way that it grows on you. Can't wait for DOS.

I don't know if it has already been posted but here's the review of Uno! by NME:

http://www.nme.com/reviews/green-day/13710

Like someone says in the comments, it's a good read, at least it's not a one paragraph rant.

Also, it seems like everyone misunderstood the point of the album. I mean they say it's the built up to a party, but they also say it's like a mid-life crisis, which I don't think it is. If anything, it's about aging.

I think UNO is a pretty good album overall. It's a little on the short side with 12 songs clocking in around 45 minutes but its the first of a trilogy so it won't matter by the time January 13th (or is it 15th? Fuck.) rolls around.

NUCLEAR FAMILY: Amazing opening to the album and trilogy at that. The lines "Gonna ride the world like a merry-go-round" and "Like a nuclear bomb and it won't be long 'til I detonate" have been stuck in my head since September 25th. One of the albums best.

STAY THE NIGHT: Beautiful opening riff, lyrics, and feeling of the song. Like the rest of the album, catchy. I can see why GDA voted this song their favorite of the album.

CARPE DIEM: One of the more repetitive songs on the album *cough* ohlove *cough* but still very well executed and catchy.

LET YOURSELF GO: My personal favorite song off the album as it follows the outline of songs like Welcome to Paradise and Basket Case. It's weird, even though the chorus is basically the same 3 words over again, it hasn't seemed repetitive after multiple times of listening. I love listening to the end of the second verse where you can barely hear the "SHUT THE FUCK UP" in the background of Billie's vocals. It makes me crack up every time.

KILL THE DJ: I'm gonna star off by saying this song deserves WAY TOO MUCH HATE. This song is probably the most underrated on the album. It's very different from traditional Green Day (Or any Green Day for that matter) and is executed amazingly. Very fun song that makes you wanna move to the beat. One if the albums best.

FELL FOR YOU: Very underrated. Definitely one of the top five songs on the album. I don't know if its just me in my habit of liking a song for two weeks then liking a different one, but I love this song. In my opinion, better than Stay The Night.

LOSS OF CONTROL: Definitely rivals Let Yourself Go as the best Dookie/Insomniac style song on the album. Catchiest song on the album. That's saying something. If you liked Let Yourself Go or Nuclear Family, you'll definitely like this one. Top 5 song for sure.

TROUBLEMAKER: I dunno. I don't really like this song. It's different from Green Day, but it really comes down to personal opinion for this one. I've heard people say that this is their favorite off the album and for people they absolutely hate it. All personal opinion this one.

ANGEL BLUE: Fabulous opening riff, but aside from that this song doesn't really go anywhere. Not Green Day's best work on this one.

SWEET 16: Very sweet song...Get it :) ? Ok all jokes aside this song is like I said very sweet. Billie's vocals are absolutely beautiful. I like this song but others would probably like it more.

RUSTY JAMES: Fantastic song. The GDC didn't lie when they raved about this being a really good song. Love the lyrics, execution, guitar, everything about it is perfect. Top 5 song for sure. Ok by now I've probably said top 5 song more than five times. Just proves how great this album is. Rusty James, one of UNO's highlights.

OH LOVE: I'm fairly sure you've all heard this song with it being the first official single and all. This song is the worst off the album by far. Way too long, too repetitive. After hearing the single it sucked? Sucks? I dunno it's a terrible song and shouldn't have been the first single. I do have to say that it does go OK with the album and track # wise, it's as good as it can be.

So that's my review of UNO. This is my first ever review (first GDC comment too) give feedback and tips an I might do more. (American Idiot, 21CB, DOS, TRE) Hope you enj
