¡UNO! Album

A bit late with my opinion on the album, but I wanted to wait till it was officially released and I had listened to it enough.

I love it all apart from Carpe Diem. It just bores me, it does get stuck in my head though but I'm not necessarily happy about that, maybe I just overplayed it before the album came out.

Troublemaker, Kill The DJ, I love the beats, I can't stay still at all when I listen to them! I love the attitude in Loss of Control and Let Yourself Go.

Overall very happy with the record and super stoked for Dos! :D

So I haven't had a chance to read through this thread, since I waited until September 25th to listen and have since been busy with school... And now that it's up to 103 (!!) pages, I don't think I will.....

Can some lovely person here give me a recap on what's been said? What things are people mentioning liking and not liking? Favorite songs? Etc?

I'm just curious about what people here think about Uno! Good and bad, maybe in a few paragraphs.

Thank you! :)

Yeah if you haven't exported the CD to your computer, you can't see it

Oh yeah the music has to be a file on the computer so you have to import the CD to your computer first. It can't change the information on the CD so there is no way for it to remember that.

Ok, gona import it then :)

It's a bit early for a consensus, but I'd say the album has been broadly well received. Most people seem to agree the singles were either the weakest songs, or (more commonly) not representative of the album. For an overview of the most popular songs, check out this thread:

Cool, thank you!

I agree that the singles weren't exactly representative of the album, but I'd actually argue that they're the best songs on it. I love Oh Love and Kill The DJ! Though all the songs are excellent - Rob Cavallo was right, there isn't a dud in the bunch. Even my least favorite songs (Loss Of Control and Let Yourself Go) are really good.

It must be a bassist thing, cause I can hear the bass in pretty much all the tracks with no effort

It's not... Sometimes people don't know how a bass guitar sounds and assume it's other guitar. I have friends like that! But, as a bass player myself, it's easier to listen to bass lines :P

Excuse me? I know how a bass sounds. I can perfectly hear it on other albums but I can't in ¡Uno!

It's hard for me to distinguish bass... sometimes I hear another track but I wonder if it's just Jason's guitar

How the hell can someone confuse the bass with a guitar? They are two completely different sounds.

Actually, I think you can hear Mike's bass on iUno! more than on 21st Century Breakdown where it was really lost in the mix... But through Cavallo's awesome production you can actually hear every instrument seperately.

I can imagine that you don't hear the bass because you have crappy headphones or crappy speakers. For example the standard white iPod buds that come with it. Those suck, you can't hear the bass with them at all. Go get Sennheiser headphones or good speakers with a subwoofer, then I'm sure you will hear the bass.

Luckily my speakers are so awesome that I can even feel the bass when I listen to a song and lean against the wall *-*

I'm sure you will like Mike even more when you can actually hear what he plays and appreciate it

I already hear and appreciate Mike's basslines from 1039 to Warning, and some songs in ¡Uno!. Shit, Mike's not my idol because he lookjs good or annything, he's my idol because he has amazing basslines that sound like earsex and made me want to start playing too. I really need to kill the belief many people has that I'm just a fanboy. I'll try hard to hear the bass. It sounds like in Nuclear Family in all the album right? Or it changes the sound sometimes like the guitar in Kill the DJ? (I know the bass sounds normal in KtDJ)

Wait you're even a bass player? Then you should hear the bass lines even more so!

The bass lines on iUno! are as clear as on Kerplunk, Dookie, and Insomniac, because on iUno! Mike gets really creative with his bass again. On AI and 21stCB he pretty much only played the keynotes of what the guitar was playing so it got kind of harder to hear it because it blended in with the guitars. But on iUno!, Mike actually plays different melodies than the guitar which still harmonize with what the guitars play. It's awesome! Especially on songs like Nuclear Family, Stay the Night, and Kill the DJ the harmony between guitar(s) and bass really stands out.

And to answer your question, yes the bass sound stays the same throughout the entire album, no use of distortion or something here... P:

No  I still want to play bass but I don't play it yet. I'm asking for one for Christmas though. I could hear bass on Murder City though :)

Ok in this listen I'm hearing bass in most songs. Still hard to hear for me in Troublemaker. I wasn't at it during Fell for You and Loss of COntrol though so idk.

¡Uno! is an amazing album! I'm glad Green Day is straying away from the rock operas and leaning more towards their old sound. If I had to pick one song as my favorite,I think it would be "Sweet 16".

How can you tell how many times you've listen to an album? I know how many times a song been played

If there's something that annoys the hell out of me is that the damn booklet never has the right lyric. There's always mistakes (tiny, but still) on 2 or 3 songs. In this case, half booklet has fucked up lyrics! :pinch: How am I going to learn a song if I say one thing and Billie Joe's sings another???

And no, I don't get tired of listen to the record :) It's so fabulous!!!

I know! For Uno, the lyrics aren't all in the right order, and they even have some lyrics wrong or are just missing some. It's so annoying! Usually Green Day's booklets are really accurate, but this one is awful. They should have invested in an editor or something.....

Right, then. So far I love the album! Can't get enough of the songs. :)

It's simple, but it still has a cool design. Anyway, the person who made it didn't pay too much attention! :P

The order of the songs goes like this:

1357911

24681012

Kill The DJ is kind of the worst, barely understandable

probably because of spontaneous changes during recording.
