¡UNO! Album

It seems like the album was released to comparatively little fanfare, so it's good that we're looking at such strong first-week numbers. The drama over the weekend helped that, surely, but it also gives this release a different feel. Normally, the band has a string of promotional appearances; they'll be on radio, late night, etc. But now that they've wiped out everything up until the Voodoo Festival....you know, I just can't put my finger on it. But it feels different. Not necessarily in a good way.

It's kind of heart wrenching to watch it unfold :/.

Falling for "Fell For You", hard.

"Loss of Control" reminds me of "Nice Guys Finish Last"... for some reason.

Fell for you is one of my favs. Ive been in love with it since the bbc interview.

I still think Kill the DJ is my favourite song on the whole album, even after listening to the whole thing. I don't know why so many people dislike it. :o I love the entire thing though, Carpe Diem and Rusty James are awesome too.

the box set is sold out

Oh that sucks. But on the other hand, it relieves my dilemma

I love this album. I fucking love it. Though it feels weird to listen to it, because of all what's going on... it's almost a bittersweet.

In general I feel like GD is a little angry and they have a lot to talk about. Most of the songs sound like a way to free yourself from all those feelings that make you who you are, but turns out they're not so good for you.

I love that there's also always love, something so important and special. ♥

My 2 favorites are Fell For You and Stay The Night (about STN; I couldn't understand why everybody love it so much... until now. It hit me really hard, it's beautiful  )

I have one in particular which I relate to the most, and is Loss Of Control. I was like "WOW" all the time while hearing it, I couldn't believe what he's saying! So, I feel that way, I don't know if it's such a good thing... hehe. All I care right now is that I have this precious colletion of songs in my earphones.

I'm so proud of Green Day!

So, if Fell For You = 2000LYA part 2, then Loss of Control = 86 part 2?

I think Rusty James is 86 part 2. (We're talking lyrically here, yeah?)

And on that note, Sweet 16 is Westbound Sign part 2

I really wish Stay the Night had been the lead single. Oh love is a great finishing track, and sets iDos! up perfectly, but it was a bad choice for lead single!

Top 3:

Kill the DJ

Stay the Night

Troublemaker

^It didn't hit the right note for me as a lead single either. I thought were some much better options, and songs in general. But it does grow on you.

Oh! I completely forgot to say how much I love the fact that Jason is in the group shots and on his own! It makes me so happy. :)

Yeah Rusty James and Loss Of Control have similar messages. But the thing that made me say that about Loss Of Control is the line about sucking on a doorknob that I slammed in your face... cause it kind of answers the line in 86, don't let the door kick you in the ass. But it is from the other side of it.

And yes! That. XD.

Anyone else wondering how the ticketmaster downloads figure into the numbers for this album? O_o.

Since they're complimentary copies, they likely won't count for anything.

Which is strange cause it means there are people who will have essentially paid for it and be listening to it without actually buying the album.

It's weird because I was under the impression that the label didn't get much out of tour ticket sales... Maybe there's some kind of deal in place that will count part of the ticket sales as record sales? Who knows..

Got to be honest. I'm disappointed. I like the album, but it's no Dookie or American Idiot. The distortion sounds too "clean." It's more like Warning and the song Pop Rocks and Coke, as opposed to Dookie, Insomniac, and Nimrod, which I totally would have preferred. And a lot of songs are played too slow. I'm really bummed with what they did to Stay the Night. I really enjoyed the 2010 sound check version. It was faster and grittier.

So far the only one i'm not that keen on is Troublemaker, have only listened to Angel Blue once as well. I love Fell For You XD and Loss Of Control reminds me of Homesick Hopes by Pinhead Gunpowder

Fell For You is so sweet, I like to think of it as "2000 Light Years Away Part 2". Is "Making paper planes" a euphemism for what I think it is? Haha. Sweet 16 is lovely too, total Beatles vibe going on and such heartfelt lyrics. I like how none of the songs are really slow though, there's still romantic/softer songs but things stay upbeat through the whole album.

Totally agree about the 60s thing. There's a lovely subtle retro/60s sound running through all of it, reminds me a bit of both FBHT and Nimrod but it's not quite the same so at the same time it sounds different to anything else they've done. I love it.

And yeah! Don't think I've ever heard so many killer one liners on an album. That's what really does it for me, the lyrics are just sensational.

Perfecting summing up of that line . I was sad and disappointed when we went from thinking it was holiest of holes to just holiest of old. Was very pleased to open up the booklet and see it is holes after all

Forgive me for being ignorant but what euphemism? XD

That's too bad that you don't like it. I think it's all part of lending itself to a particular unified sound. It's less punk more early rock and pop.

I finally got to listen to the album! I was very sad when it ended but then I realized I had a replay button!

When I got halfway through Sweet 16 and my "allergies" started to act up. :ninja:
