Francois
The album is fucking great. I am, however, disappointed at the fact that I already knew half of the songs when I listened to the album for the first time. They should not have released as many songs as they did. Nuclear Family would have blown me away if I heard it as the start to Green Day's new album. The first half of the album is obviously fantastic, but the unfamiliar second half is also fucking great. 'Rusty James' is one of the best Green Day songs ever, 'Angel Blue' is catchy as hell and about the closest thing, musically, to ¡Dos! on this album and 'Sweet 16' is something very new from Green Day, but beautiful in a different way. I agree with this...knowing so many of the songs so well beforehand detracted from the magic of listening to the album the first time. Then again though, we do have the choice to listen to what they release or not so we can't really blame them for releasing so much beforehand. I think for the next two I'll just refrain from listening to what they put out until I get the albums, that way it'll all be fresh
Industry of Uncool
I think this album has grown on me. Like it more and more as every time I listen and makes me feel more excited about Dos and Tre
spark in the night
I have "Kids are alright, alright as they'll ever be" stuck in my head  that song (knowing it's about Adie) makes me all mushy and fuzzy inside
Laura!
After a few listens I have concluded that I fucking love this album. It's a nice, fresh change from the AI, 21CB sound. This albums definitely going to be on repeat for a bit. My favorites: Rusty James, Sweet 16, Fell For You, Stay The Night, Carpe Diem. Least favorite: Troublemaker. The Grohl
This is one of those albums that when I heard the first two songs I knew I was gonna love it and I was right! So far there's not a single song that I dislike and I think it's a breath of fresh air after 21CB (which I loved too). I just love the idea of them kicking back and having fun with the music. It makes it all the better.

Actually not sure if any of the women referred to on this album are Adie. He's doing a lot of thinking about past lives. OK I am completely wrong about this. That's OK though... it's good to be wrong sometimes.
Clockwise
Gonna take a guess it isn't about Adie. Actually not sure if any of the women referred to on this album are Adie. He's doing a lot of thinking about past lives. I'm pretty sure it's been said somewhere that it's about their sixteenth wedding anniversary a few years back or something. Also, the lyrics and references to different parts of the country make it sound like he's talking about Adie moving to Cali. Also, in the note before the song in the book edition at least, he mentions his 'minnesota girl' and we all know who that is, haha.

Quote from Billie Joe in Guitar World Sweet 16 "Sweet 16 is about being in a relationship for along time. The first verse is about the relationship with Adrienne when we first met. And the second verse is about the relationship now. And just how time passes, and kinda 'Wow, we're still here and still together."
1039SweetChildren
Mumford and Sons is definitely going to #1 next week. Green Day is fighting for #2, but honestly any top 5 album is a great accomplishment!

Femme Gauche
Ultimately I think my biggest problem with this album is that there isn't more of it. But... there will be... soon.
Hermione
Fell For You is so sweet, I like to think of it as "2000 Light Years Away Part 2". Is "Making paper planes" a euphemism for what I think it is? Haha. Sweet 16 is lovely too, total Beatles vibe going on and such heartfelt lyrics. I like how none of the songs are really slow though, there's still romantic/softer songs but things stay upbeat through the whole album. Finally listened and now I can't stop! At first it was Kill The DJ that really stood otu but now they are all starting to sort of pull apart and be distinctive. This album sounds liek what Green Day would sound like if they had come out in the 1960s (based on my impression of 1960s music of course, since I wasn't there ). The whole album sounds a little bit... beach party. And there are of course strong callbacks to other Green Day material and other material from other artists, but the combination of everything just sounds stellar. And I really love the lyrics, there are a lot of really excellent one-liners. Totally agree about the 60s thing. There's a lovely subtle retro/60s sound running through all of it, reminds me a bit of both FBHT and Nimrod but it's not quite the same so at the same time it sounds different to anything else they've done. I love it. And yeah! Don't think I've ever heard so many killer one liners on an album. That's what really does it for me, the lyrics are just sensational. Yes. Everyone thought it was holiest of old which I think sounds stupid. Doesn't make a lick of sense. Holiest of holes DOES make sense however. It's a play on words..like a double metaphor...holiest of holes meaning religion and being "holy" is an empty virtue. And that it's such a giant hole that it is the "hole-iest" of holes. The grand pubaah of holes. You can't get much deeper of a hole than being holy Perfecting summing up of that line . I was sad and disappointed when we went from thinking it was holiest of holes to just holiest of old. Was very pleased to open up the booklet and see it is holes after all
localinsomniac
Did any news concerning the Japan Deluxe Version surfaced yet? Bonus track is a live version of Let Yourself Go. Ritz
Some songs in the album sound so retro. I love it. Sweet16 and the Solo of Trouble Maker is the first thing that comes into my mind. Fell For You is <3 I have no words for that song, its so beautiful, sweet and perfect. I'm so going to sing this song to my better half someday. xD

Oh goodness, I never even thought of it like that XD. Never thought to take the phrase "Making paper planes" as anything but literal (but why the fuck would he be doing that?) and yes I sort of was thinking of 2000 Light Years Away, also. Totally agree about the 60s thing. I love it.I think they might have chosen the equipment that sort of has that effect? I know nothing about the technical side of rock music but it seems like (as someone said Billie doesn't use Blue at all on this record) the instruments and other equipment chosen lend themselves to that sound, in addition to the actual writing of course. And yeah! Don't think I've ever heard so many killer one liners on an album. That's what really does it for me, the lyrics are just sensational. Definitely. Perfecting summing up of that line . I was sad and disappointed when we went from thinking it was holiest of holes to just holiest of old. Was very pleased to open up the booklet and see it is holes after all I guess I am in the minority cause I always thought he said "Holiest of roles"... it sort of makes sense. The role of being a Christian soldier?
lagurney
Streaming a week before release and weak singles has cost the album. General opinion from Green Day fans is that oh love is 'ok', kill the DJ has had some very bad press, and let yourself go is too aggressive for radio. Lucky if it makes no.2 in UK, 6th on iTunes chart! I think it's good album, but there are no stand out songs in my opinion. My fav is between Rusty James, Nuclear Family, Sweet 16and let yourself go. I'm worried about Dos as the hype of a return would have gone, not as much promotion and from what I've heard weak songs!

I know top ten is good and all but come on, world. D<. there are two other versions of Uno in the top 20 too, so that should level them into the top 5... plus the album is #3 and #5 on AmazonMP3! I don't get why Warner didn't buy an ad on itunes though. unless you are looking for it, you'd never know its on there!
