I hate myself for not listening to any more new songs after LYG.

Maybe I shouldn't have read this thread :D.

I'm glad people are liking it though. I can't wait to hear it in 2 weeks time.

What a nice surprise! I was definitely expecting some sort of video/release for Stay The Night next, but Nuclear Family is awesome. It's been one of my favourites ever since they started performing the new songs live. I love it!

I'm trying to do the same, it's killing me though! I really want a few new songs to listen to when the album comes out. Not sure I'm going to manage to wait that long though

Trouble is; with Green Day on the top of their game, they have clearly got so much great music on Uno! that you could easily argue for other tracks as singles eg Carpe Diem and Fell For You to name but two.

We should just be happy that Uno! is going to be so awesome.

I agree. Fell For You is absolutely fantastic. but when it comes to chosing single songs. GD is not that much good at it

The guitar sounds kind of similar, I guess. Not the entire song though, not even close.

If people can claim that carpe diem is just suffocate then surely this is too. I personally still can't hear suffocate in carpe but this does sound like the clash

Nice catch - I wouldn't go as far as saying it sounds "exactly like" Safe European Home though. One of the chord progressions in Nuclear Family would appear to be a deliberate shout-out to the Clash, but that's where the similarity ends. The overall song structure is different, Mike's bass line is a lot more prominent in Nuclear Family and sounds totally different to me, Jason's guitar adds another layer of depth, and then there's that percussion thing. Topper Headon doesn't stand out on Safe European in the same way that Tre Cool stands out on just about anything he does.

Pump-ass is right -- I'm falling in love with the goddamn thing.

They are actually amazing at chosing singles. The success of their singles show that. Granted, there may be better songs on an album, but that's not what chosing a single is about. For example, Know Your Enemy was one of the worst songs on 21st CB (and I still love that song), but as a single it was fucking amazing. It was being played during every major sporting event on TV for months. So much more goes into chosing a single then we know about.

ofcourse I'm late again. But I'm so in love with nuclear family. It has like a beachy vibe to it so awesome.

UNO won't be a masterpiece but it's gonna be so much fucking fun thats really what I wanted from green day anyway for this era,

even though it won't be the same quality as american idiot but fuck that EMO SHIT!! JK JK

Today is my birthday and when I woke up this morning to this news I couldn't have been happier. I'll just think of it as Green Day's gift to me today! Before today I had only heard the first two lines of the song and I couldn't wait for the actual release! I couldn't help but play it right away and WOW! This is definitely my favorite track of any that has been released so far. It's catchy, powerful, and just straight up rock 'n' roll. Green Day at their finest! 2 more weeks people!

Best so far. Really loved it somehow although the video was kept simple. The song had a beautiful melody. Overall just my lovely band <3

"I just want some action so gimme Mike Dirnt"

I'm not the only one who heard that, right :P?

Haha, no, not at all xD Did he really sing that?

Now that's all I'll ever hear.

Same here. God damn it...now I have to listen to every other Green Day song to try and forget that lol.

I love it! The countdown pretty much makes the whole song for me.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but does anyone else feel as if this song leads directly into Stay The Night? (eg. Are We The Waiting/St Jimmy, Christian's Inferno/Last Night On Earth).

Now I feel so bad about being harsh about Uno!..this is a great tune btw

Actually the more I listen to Uno! the more I love it. Even Kill The DJ is starting to grow on me. Guess it takes awhile to get use to it.

I guess it's possible. I'd like it if it was done seamlessly like how Jinx goes into Haushinka, with Stay the Night starting as soon as Billie finishes that countdown.

Bass solo FTW!

Listening to it again and again. The short but sweet bass solo is to die for.

Mike is back in the game! Though he never left actually. :P

It's the bit in Carpe Diem that goes "celebrate, celebrate", it sounds very similar to "suffocate, suffocate". For me the similarities end there. The chorus is totally different.

if you like this song: listen to safe european home by the clash.

green day got "inspired" again. but safe european home has better lyrics, the better riff (gd's is quite similiar, but they did change it so it sounds not tooo close) and more energy.

i find this song quite boring. should have recorded it faster at least. and if you compare the bass solo parts to mikes solo parts on insomniac, they are quite boring as well. but gonna give them credit to at least bring some bass breaks back...

im not "hating" or anything, i just dont like it that much. its not terrible, but they ripped off my favourite punk song to a kind of boring pop rock tune.

i know that they always copied a few melodys from the kinks (walking contradiction) or other artists before, but back then they kind of made it their own song, cause they added this green day power and great lyrics. and thats just not happening here.

and now i know... "fuck off, you are not a real green day fan". yay.
