European Tour

They didn't post it on FB, someone asked them via email...on their official site it says this though "We have 'all' our upcoming gigs in our listings section, if your question is about a future gig keep checking the site or subscribe to the newsletter. Requests for info about gigs not listed on the site will not be answered" http://www.mcd.ie/contact/

I wonder why they would give hints about future concert(s) to a random person by email :S they haven't even say anything this week about the concerts

btw you won a contest to see a Green Day concert in Europe, right? I remember you were waiting for an email by who organized it, to know the full list of dates once they were confirmed, did they send it to you?

So it's only that? I found that via Google, on boards.ie and I thought it seemed veeeery unreliable, but I thought we had another source :(

Well, it's not exactly that. This woman works for Warner in Spain, she's the "Digital Key Account ", and when I won this contest they told me to email her. She emailed me back telling me she would contact me when the dates where closed so I could decide the city where I wanted to go, but also she asked me if I had any concert/city preference. I emailed her a couple of weeks ago because I had already decided that I wanted to go to Rome, but she hasn't replied... I suppose that when the dates are closed she will reply, because that was the original plan, so if she's fair to that plan, the dates aren't closed yet. But she hasn't replied any of my emails telling her what my "preference" was, and she also told me that I could email her telling her that so... I don't know :( I have faith that she'll reply when the next winner of the contest is announced (that's on Monday), I'll let you know if she gives me a complete list of concerts or what.

God, I read that again and it's confusing  Basically, according to what she told me 4 months ago, she would contact me when the dates where closed, so the dates aren't closed. But she asked me to send her an email and hasn't replied, so I don't know if maybe she's on holidays or something. But there's hope!

:shok: lol so let's wait! maybe they changed the dates and they're playing in July, after the 13th...in that case there's still time to announce it

I asked to the admin of Efestivals and the reply was "no idea currently, sorry"

I could maybe see them playing another stadium show in the UK on the 3rd of June, maybe in Manchester or Glasgow. Then come back in late June for a full UK arena tour (Liverpool, Newcastle, Sheffield, Cardiff, Nottingham, maybe London and Manchester/Glasgow again)

It's nice to dream but I highly doubt they'd play at least 5+ shows in the UK alone.

Well you're optimistic. I'm in the stage of doubting that we'll even get a UK tour. :S

Last time they played about 10. I know things are different this time around, but they've always played loads more shows in the UK than any other European country, so I think if they do come back for a full tour it's not unrealistic to expect a fair few shows.

a Cardiff date would be nice, since they haven't played here since 2005 after all, but to be honest I just want news more than anything though

I remember reading an interview with a musician (I think it was Frank Turner but I'm not certain) and one thing he was amazed at during tours of the USA was how far the fans were willing to travel to see a show. It's something we don't really share here in Europe, certainly not in Ireland and Britain anyway. I've seen people in the west of Ireland complain that a certain band are only playing a Dublin show (despite the fact that it's a simple 3 hour bus/train ride)

I think cost has a lot to do with it though, I live in the East Midlands, so fairly close to Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Leicester, etc; lots of places bands play. But I don't have a car, so it means public transport, and the only place I can get home late at night from (and that's a stretch) is London, so I can only go to gigs in London, even though i'm just as close if not closer to those other places.. If you're going further out and you need to stay over night, not only do you have extra transport fares but also the cost of a place to stay/food ... if you're not careful, going to a gig can rival the cost of a cheap holiday. :/ unfortunately. I think in America they're a lot more used to having to travel further to get to things because it's such a huge place.

But it does really bug me when people complain about having to travel just a couple hours to a gig, specially those who have a car.

I see a lot of that kind of attitude on facebook and twitter to be fair. But I do know quite a few people who travel all over the place to see bands, money provided

Oh I know it's easier to travel greater distances in the US and I know many fans of Green Day and other bands who are willing to travel great distances to see them! (myself included) but the primary attitude here is an expectation that a band should come to them rather than they go to see the band. The fact that bands (especially smaller ones) are willing to travel at all should be taken with gratitude and fans should be expected to meet them in the middle somewhere.

If I had the money, I would travel anywhere to see Green Day or some other bands which I like.

I'd travel to the moon to see them, but I think us Green Day fans are a little more crazy when it comes to stuff like that than the usual fan of any other band.

Well, I caved and bought Emirates tickets like everyone else. They'll announce a UK tour now, mark my words.

I would also go anywhere if I had the money. But I don't. I wanted to go to Sweden but that would cost me at least 400 dollars :( And I simply do not have that much money.

I'm selling a ticket for Sweden just in case you'll change your mind.

This is true!

Do we all think that is it for European dates now? it certainly is a full fixture list and i know some important places are missing a date this year but i reckon there'll be another round in early 2014 or something. it would be handy to know if we have all the dates, and actually now i think there could be more otherwise they would have told us already!!

I still have hope for new dates

I don't think that their European Tour is so short this year

I'm sure (also I hope) that they will announce more dates :happy::happy:

Thank you I'll keep that in mind if I win the lottery or something like that

Are there English/Irish festivals announcing headliners in January/February? If not I don't think they will announce "normal" gigs in the UK this summer, at this point
