Tre_Gina
Hello! I am back from Reading now and thought I'd bore yo with my account of things...I queued outside the arena from 9.15ish and the gates opened at 10.30ish I think. It was a fun sprint to the tent and when we got there were relieved to see the GD drumkit and a sign saying "the surprise you've been waiting for will start at 11am" they came on early and appeared to be having so much fun and the crowd were great. I loved letterbomb and Oh Love especially but was slightly disappointed the whole playing dookie in full didn''t happen. at the time we thought there was going to be a full blown fight as we didn't know who was trying to pull them off stage and his microphone was briefly cut off at one point - the crowd were booing so loudly. During boulevard Billie just stopped the song and annouced they had a serious time issue and abandoned the song and went into longview but still played a few more songs after that. The tent was only half full when they started but by the end they had to close it - i've never seen so many security people at the NME tent! It was an epic gig and I know a lot pf people who have never seen them before or not that bothered about them have been converted and thought it was incredible. Well worth getting up early for

desertrose
Billie Joe says "we sucked" first time at Reading Billie Joe Armstrong remembers the first time Green Day played a top festival because they "sucked". The alternative rocker can't forget how awful the band were when they debuted at the Reading event in the UK. As well as having a slot between Hole and The Smashing Pumpkins, their equipment arrived late and they were badly organised. "The first time we played here [Reading] I just remember it sucked," Billie Joe admitted to NME magazine. "We hadn't played in a year and a half or something, and someone was obviously like, 'F**k it.'" The three-piece act played a secret show during UK's legendary Reading Festival last weekend. The American punk band were supposed to have their extra performance cancelled as the tent was over crowded and organisers feared a crush of fans inside. The rebellious band continued regardless. "They were afraid of chaos, basically," Billie Joe continued. "But we worked it out. It's always fun when you're doing something you're not supposed to be doing, right?" http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/entertainment/news/billie-joe-armstrong-we-sucked-16205396.html
