Bastard of 1967
Annnnnnd Green Day blows the roof off the fucking joint yet again. No surprise why MTV keeps asking them back even when they're not actually up for anything. Highlights: 1) Make-your-own-mosh-pit FTW! 2) Jason taking over Billie's screamed vocals to keep BJ from blowing his overtaxed voice, while making it look like Jason's had that part since the song's inception. Seamless and very well-executed. 3) That crowd rush at the end....oh man, where do I start? There was no way in hell that Tre would have been able to keep a visual on the rest of the band for rhythm cueing, so that left him and Mike basically on their own separate metronomes kept in sync only by their ear monitors and their own internal sense of timing....and even under these conditions they STILL didn't miss a fucking beat. Which is good because BJ was lost in (and partially disabled by) the crowd at this point -- leaving Mike and Jeff having to quickly adjust and carry the repeating chorus' lead vocal for a bit. They all handled it masterfully.

StuckWithRob
Wow I just watched it! A few days ago I posted that I hoped they'd play Let Yourself Go becasue it would be like we're Green Day, we're punk and we're here to fuck shit up, and it sure turned out that way! Fucking crazy when everyone went on stage. The thing is with the censorship it's so obvious what the lyrics are that everyone will know it's 'fuck'. Yes Green Day, destroying the commercial shit of MTV!

porksoda
^^ When they were being seated at the start of the show, a group of rappers were holding up the seating and the ushers and Green Day looked pissed. I thought Billie was going to lose his shit and yell "Get the fuck out of my way!"

Femme Gauche
I dunno, they just kind of look like they're minding their own business and not reacting particularly strongly to what was happening on the stage.

That was my feeling too. Billie and Mike were each talking to their spouse and Tre was in the middle, probably saw the camera angled toward him and was like "hey there." They weren't completely engaged in what was going on but they weren't like "wtf?" like in some audience shots from past awards shows .
