WestboundSign!
Thanks to everyone who worked out the lyrics! If they're really the correct ones, I'm entirely happy with them. The expressions Billie used are so fitting and also very characteristic of him, if you know what I mean. You look at a line like "Sodom and Gomorrah in the century of thrills" (which might be my favorite line, by the way) and it immediately sounds like something Billie Joe could have written. I love how the lyrics appear to be some kind of mixture between simple and metaphoric structured lines. It's amazing.
Mary711
Our local radio station just played a small part of the song and mentioned that Green Day are back and stuff like that. Personally, I like this new vibe of the song and it kind of reminds me of a mix of the Tubbies and the Beatles. Let Yourself Go remains my favourite though. dumb shiny bitch
I had no idea what Sodom & Gomorrah were... I had to google it.
Neon Light
I'm almost sure that I really like this song. Sounds weird but there's something about it that is a bit 'whatever', but maybe that's because I listened to the live version first which I like a lot more. What I think is hilarious and also completely ridiculous is people claiming Green Day is dead and that the trilogy is a bad idea based on 2 songs and a few live recordings. Imagine if people based their opinion of 21st Century Breakdown on Know Your Enemy and 21 Guns.
DecanoLP
The uncensored is way better than the radio edit, but I'm still not really digging it. Maybe it'll grow on me The live version was pretty cool though.
Tubbie Head
I'm not so sure of how I feel about this song. I think it's actually annoying. This is the first time I've ever felt this way about a Green Day song... I'm going to listen to the live version, it must be better than this Oh my goooood, I totally missed this yesterday. That happens when you don't come online, seriously. yeah, I wasn't online either.. Hahah I always miss something important when I skip a day without my computer/internet

Jimmy the Kid
There isn't auto-tune, there's pitch correction - huge difference. Also, the "auto-tune" effect I think people are hearing is a chorus effect. Dude... Auto-tune is a pitch correction software. Normally people mention "auto-tune" when referring to pitch-correction, and the song has one moment, at 10 seconds, the small scream. It is pitch-corrected. The rest of the song doesn't seem to be! Guest As Good As It Gets
Christ, what a boring song. Some of the guitar parts are okay, and I appreciate that GD are aiming for a different style, but man, what a disappointment. Think they lost it after American Idiot came out
JaHawk2009
"Sodom & Gomorrah in the century of thrills" That is a bloody brilliant line. I love this song, it's something that can be dissected and analysed for potential hidden meanings, but it's also a nice bit of easy listening power punk. My hopes for UnoDosTre are rising! basKT_case90
hey, i heard the explicit version.. but when 00:58 or when Shoot that fucker down --- We are the vultures The dirtiest kind the sounds is strange I listened to the song about 50 times today, then on one listening, I suddenly heard the 'strange' thing you are talking about. It sounds like the vibrato guitar comes in a little early, and out of time. And once you hear it, you can't unhear it. It's stuck in my head forever now :/

DTH
we know Green Day always ups the tempo when they play live. So you want the faster tempo, go see them Live ! they do not - which sucks. listen to paper lanterns, going to pasalacqua or stuck with me from the last tour. they played it much slower then on the record... which ruins those classic songs. why do they do this? to fast for their new audience? fucking stadium rock.... RetroHolo
I've been reading the comments on the facebook post announcing the download on iTunes. There are so many people that are still pissy about them being different to Dookie - I can't understand why people can't just accept that ALL bands change as they age. The Beatles sounded very different at the start than at the end. I guess it also comes down to people grasping at straws and trying to relive an era that they were fond of. If it doesn't remind them of when they were younger, it must be shit. Honestly, I've grown up listening to Green Day. I started by listening to Dookie in high school around 15 years ago, and then the other albums. I'm a huge fan of the old stuff, but I like hearing the music mature too. Kill The DJ is a great song, it's fun to listen to and catchy. I for one am looking forward to the trilogy, it's going to be a good listen. Malleus
This song does not sound exactly like that Clash song, oh my fucking god. Two songs can be similar and have similar concepts without being totally the same.
Tubbie Head
The problem I have with it might be the Voice effects, the same they use in the newer pop/hip hop songs (I don't know how they're called, but it makes him sound like a computer), I hate it no matter who is singing (well at least it isn't used during the whole song). Plus, instrumental part is always repeating (and I might have had enough of it, since the little preview....But I used to love it) Then the verse is always repeating too! Nele
Isn't it weird that everytime a new song appears there are at least 20 people who complain that it sounds exactly like another song? After decades of different styles of music, nothing sounds completely unique anymore.
Sixtrix
Christ, what a boring song. Some of the guitar parts are okay, and I appreciate that GD are aiming for a different style, but man, what a disappointment. Think they lost it after American Idiot came out I think in the true story they kind of lost it after Warning and finally picked it up from American Idiot on. But I see that in your opinion you have not heard any satisfying Green Day song since American Idiot. But I can't agree on the thing that they lost it after American Idiot. I think they got more ambitious, and taking such direction and risks might scare off some fans, but it won't cease them from doing what they like and how they like to approach it. But I am very satisfied with it. I don't know, we all just look for different things in music so it is impossible to please us all. But I hope one of the 3 new albums will have at least something nice for you to offer.
drugstore hooligan
People on kerrang radio have been reading out peoples reactions to this. A lot are negative. it seems the band cant win. If they put out a song like oh love which is basically the 3 chord green day we all grew up with albeit a tad slower people hate it. and if they release something like this a bit more experimental people complain. There is no winning it seems. Hell if people are hating it, more room at concerts for us loyal fans who actually like this new direction.

It might be because at one point there were some bullshit articles that said Green Day had said they were going "back to their roots" or "back to the Dookie sound", when in fact they never said any such thing. People believed what they wanted to believe and now they're disappointed that Green Day have done something new instead of just boringly rehashing their old sound. Sucks for them! Love this funky song and love the slight similarity to The Clash. Sounding similar to something doesn't equal a rip off.

Lots of people complained because 21CBD was too similar in sound/style to American Idiot. If they released Dookie 2.0 people would just complain it was boring, they were rehashing old material and they'd run out of ideas. This and 'Oh Love' don't sound like anything Green Day have released before, if anything the trilogy will be like Warning, where they tried a lot of different styles and veered away from just pure pop-punk. I'm all for it. New sound, new direction, something refreshing. Kill the DJ isn't my favourite song, nor is it my least favourite it's different and I kinda like that
