'Kill The DJ' Premiere

I'm loving what they did with it in studio and the high quality, but without the swearing it feels kind neutered. It's like a neutered German Shepard, still huge and cool, but it just is lacking the bite it needs to have and that it will have. Even bleeped out would be better.

I find it quite funny that it's okay to have "Hold him under water until he suffocates and drowns" in a clean version, but a single "fuck" is so bad.

Fortunately in Finland you can hear the real version on the radio as well. At least on the rock-stations.

But I'm not saying you can't hear it in other places as well. Just saying cause I live here. Not trying to say anything close to that other countries suck or anything.

I'm sure that there are real versions on the radio around the world. Just kinda sucks this isn't.

I don't wanna listen, cause I already heard Oh Love and Let Yourself Go, I don't really wanna spoil too much

- Nuclear Family

- Stay the Night

- Carpe Diem

- Let Yourself Go

- Kill the DJ

- Oh Love

Get on my level, Cameron.

I'm so used to the Uno trailer that every time it starts I'm expecting it to go directly to the solo

There isn't auto-tune, there's pitch correction - huge difference. Also, the "auto-tune" effect I think people are hearing is a chorus effect.

You do know auto tune doesbt always make people sound like a robot/t pain right? (Not saying there autp tune in this song or not)

Listen to Smashing Pumpkins Adore album Billy uses auto tune for all of the songs but u cant really tell

That is the best comparison ever.

But I do agree. It's an insanely awesome song, but it'll sound so much better with all the fucks intact.

I didn't like it at first too but I think it's mostly because we hear the words DJ and someone too much and in the uncensored version this doesn't happen...

What's the uncensored version of the chorus, then? The chorus right now is "Someone kill the DJ/Someone shoot the DJ" which is insanely weak.

I agree with matt who i think beat me to the punch explaining the difference between auto tune and pitch correction. No auto here, pitch correction yes. All artists on majors it. Thats just music production. its no biggy. Billie can pull it off live for sure. The studio version just needs to be spot on thats all. anyways loving the song. My boys never dissapoint.

"Someone Kill the DJ/Shoot the fucking DJ"

And later it goes "Hold him underwater till that motherfucker drowns" I think

Auto-tune or not, Billie can atleast sing live. It's not like it's Bieber, that mothetfucker can't sing live and it's a fact! Search him on youtube amd you'll get my point, he even laughs at himself in one video cause he realises how bad it soundsXD

"Someone Kill the DJ/Shoot the fucking DJ"

Are you sure it's not"hold him underwater suffocate him till he drowns"? Well I heard both I don't know

Walking after dark

In the New York City park

Your thoughts are so unholy

In the holiest abode----------------------------pretty sure about this one

Onward Christian soldiers

Filled with jivin' mind control

The bull left on the dance floor (if this said bullet it would make more sense to me)

Ridin', runnin' red

The bullet that you asked for's

Killing you to death

Unless you...

Someone kill the DJ, someone shoot the DJ

Someone kill the DJ, someone shoot the DJ

Someone kill the DJ, someone shoot the DJ

Voices in my head are saying,

Shoot the DJ down

We are the .......................

The dirtiest kind

They cut you once

In your heart and your mind

Walking after dark

In the New York City park

_______ left in the club

Pocket full of pills

Sodom and Gommorah

In the century of thrills

The bull left on the dance floor

Ridin', runnin' red

The bullet that you asked for's

Killing you to death

Unless you…

Someone kill the DJ, shoot the fucking DJ

Someone kill the DJ, shoot the fucking DJ

Someone kill the DJ, shoot the fucking DJ

Hold him under water

'til he suffocates and drowns

We are the ......................I dont hear vultures

The dirtiest kind

They'll cut you once

In your heart and your mind

oooooooooohhhhhh

someone's about to get you boy

Shoot the DJ down

Someone kill the DJ, someone shoot the DJ

Someone kill the DJ, someone shoot the DJ

Someone kill the DJ, someone shoot the DJ

Someone kill the DJ, someone shoot the DJ

Someone kill the DJ, someone shoot the DJ

Shoot the DJ down

Someone kill the DJ, someone shoot the DJ

Someone kill the DJ, someone shoot the DJ

Someone kill the DJ, someone shoot the DJ

Someone kill the DJ, someone shoot the DJ

Someone kill the DJ, someone shoot the DJ

Voices in my head are saying

Shoot the DJ down

Man, that "_______ left in the club" line has me stumped. I'm sitting here listening to that part over and over (slowed down quite a bit).

It sounds like "per-goff bulls left in the club," haha.

Not to get bogged down in this, but since people have started to lie for some reason: Auto-Tune is a software plug-in to correct pitch. Just like Melodyne, and just like a whole bunch of other packages. To what extent you use any of them is entirely up to the effect you want to achieve (from the robotic to the natural), but their fundamental job is to correct pitch. They are pitch correction. There is no difference whatsoever.

If you want to believe Green Day never use it, then fair enough. But let's not lie about what the software does.

I don't know I've only heard the live version one or two times after I heard the one we have now for the first time...

I remember reading the lyrics I wrote before without hearing the song so when I heard the live version I thought it was it but I'm not sure.

Let Yourself Go > Kill the DJ > Never Gonna Give You Up > Friday > Oh Love

About sums it up, I think.

Come on it's not that bad!

I really like this song. The uncensored version is definately fantastic. the only problem is that the song is slower than the live version and this gets your energy when dancing to it. if it was faster like the live version, it would be considered as a more soul-searching song to me.

Auto tune IS pitch correcting thats the whole purpose of the program... i have no problems with at or if GD wants to use it

I might be wrong but in the 2nd chorus part I thought Billie sang "We only protest the dirtiest kind"

So Germany gets the song tomorrow and the US on the 21st? I wish they'd made the release date clear for once, I hate not knowing what's up. It can't be that hard to announce a date for a single release.

EARLY LISTEN!

I absolutely love it. The chorus gets a bit on my nerves, though. But it's only because of the amount of 'Someone's in it, instead of fuck. I would of rather hear the beep instead of replacing the word. :P But this is edited, so i'm excited to hear "Kill the fucking dj"

It's interesting seeing the reactions people are having to this song from various media/news sites.. from "Wtf are they doing..." to "AMAZING". This is the response I would have expected with a song like Kill The DJ and I think it's understandable. Personally, I really enjoy it. I love that the band is doing something risky and different. I did prefer the live version much more, but that's usually the case with any Green Day song, so I don't really mind.

My only thing is that the ending is really repetitive, even in the explicit version. But aside from that, I really like the lyrics to this one much more than Let Yourself Go and Oh Love. Looking forward to hearing the unedited version, which I'm sure I'll like even more. :D
