Kaddi.
Can we please stop with all of the comments saying that the video is sexist or objectifying women? If this video had men doing the same thing no one would give a shit, but when women come into the picture everyone suddenly has something to say. I think everyone is reading into this video way too much. Yeah, I don't even think it is sexist. Neither are the girls completely naked, nor are they performing some lascivious dance or something. They're just there sitting and walking around, there's nothing sexist about it in my opinion.
CameronM.
You really gotta take your little brother off of the leash bro! Why can't he watch Jesus of Suburbia? I haven't watched that in a long time, but I can't remember any relatively explicit girls in that video. Also coming from someone who is a little brother, we always find a way to see tits. Always. Buddy I don't want my 10 year old brother seeing tits. Honestly I won't care when he's in middle school. but till then... well you get the idea. And concerning JoS seeing as you haven't seen it in a while let me remind you about the sex scene between JoS and Whatshername in the middle of the video. z5warrior
It's just a video. I'm sure the guys don't feel or act like this in real life. It's trying to portray the sexual tension in the song, but unfortunately came up short. The theme was complicated and had potential, but the video came out awkward and the girls aren't really doing much. It just came out wrong despite trying to portray the theme. Sam Bayer took the easy way out. But, I'm not going to stop being a GD fan just because of a bad video (or bad videos for that matter). To me, it's be the music that counts. I don't care if they make terrible videos so long as their music is great. I'll just listen to the song and not watch the video.
Comrade
Looking through the reactions here there has been too much blind hatred and thick-skulled things said to make asserting a detailed opinion, but on first viewing it's simply a rock 'n roll video for the 21st Century. Rock 'n roll is a bit sexy, a bit dangerous but feeling a bit of a midlife crisis. Guess what? So is the video. It's a standard music video, neither deserving hatred or intense love. I get the feeling that people are massively resentful for Green Day not doing something narrative or different. Why would they? For what purpose? Seriously think it through - how could a narrative or needlessly alternative video serve this song well? Bands make music to sell - the video is the advert. What sells better than women not wearing much? If you resent Green Day or don't like the video for following a basic market trend you're just short-sighted. This trilogy is about the simple joys in life. You expect more from videos than that? Don't bother watching them.
XBlade1X
How have you managed to survive life till age 21 with that "I have the right to be offended and you should determine what you're saying based on my feelings" attitude? Grow up, please, people can have disagreements and should be able to talk about them without getting hung up with excuses and "i'm sorry you feel that way" every time you say something. Everyone is here voluntarily, probably to have a good time getting to know each other and getting to know Green Day together, everyone being able to be honest about their opinions without having to take into consideration how you feel about that opinion is at the core of really getting to know each other and being able to become a community that can enjoy their similar interests and tolerate their differences. How have you managed to survive to the age of 19 telling people how they should feel about their personal beliefs and not go to other people for help when they need it. If you guys have nothing nice to say to me, I'd appreciate it if you just didn't say anything at all. If I have no right to tell people how I feel, why should anyone have the right to come to me and tell me I am wrong for what I believe in?
Vrock09
The video was boring. I know if Green Day hears about the negative complaints about the video, they're going to justify their actions with "we do what we want" or "we're always pushing the boundaries". Which was true, with things that they've done in the past. But hot girls, booze, sex, and rock n roll, has been done before. As a girl, Im not offended. I'd honestly rather see tits over penises any day. But Im offended by the lack of creativity on the part of Sam Bayer, and on the part of Green Day themselves. The video was poorly executed and is causing lots of confusion at what the real message of the video was. I know some people are saying some are taking it overboard and thinking too much about it but I believe we have a right to judge them in any way we want, because in the end, they're entertainers, we pay them. And there would be no gorgeous models backstage, no trilogy, no shows, if it wasnt for all the profits we as fans, have provided or at least the money that the record label believes they will profit out of all this. So I enjoy seeing all the hate/love comments about the video. But as for me, I thought the video was distasteful and boring.
djrossstar
Green Day obviously didn't see A Nightmare on Elm Street remake or they would have never rehired Sam Bayer. A horrible film that almost all horror fanatics despise as much as I do.

Harinezumi
To those who say it's just a video: it is how they are represented to the world! I don't give a rat's ass about Gaga's videos, or whether they objectify women. What bothers me is the fact that the video is lacking a decent storyline (or it doesn't come across to the viewer, thanks to SB). Also, who actually paid attention to the music, or how it fit the video? I didn't. I was too busy watching girls make out and show their tits. That's why I don't think good bands should have to resort to nudity of any kind. It takes away from the music.
Soroush
I don't really think this video is offensive. it's not objectifying women. girls are nude because they look better when nude. it's just their DNA. I don't think any of you have a more attractive Idea for a video that belongs to a song like Oh love, do u? The problem is not the video or Sam, maybe a better single choice could have solved this problem. but this was the most ideal video for a song like this. *withoutadoubt*
couldnt they just have lusted after each other and shown their own nipps? that woulda been more enjoyable. Haha, definitely!! They not only should have the fans choose their singles, they should have us direct their videos, too!
Francois
The video is decent. The song is awesome. The video captures the spirit of the song and of the trilogy albums. It's not political or very serious; it's about enjoying yourself, letting go. Also: the girls in the video aren't in it to make the video sexy. They're in it to capture the atmosphere of rock band having a party backstage and enjoying themselves with some of the simple things in life: sex, drugs and rock 'n roll. Nikkilite
Please main... what is wrong with u guys!? Well, i must admit that ive only seen the video from the solo.. (Yeah, i thought it started sooner, and i cant watch the video in my country ) I have to say that it may was a little boring, but what the hey! They were only having fun with some girls making this video! Please... calm down a bit........ These albums are fun! Not so serious as 21CB and AI.... This is just my opinion... I think most of u are flipping totally over just one video... This is only one video!
billiejoephil
Anyone have the link for the Rated R version? Can't find it anywhere... Thanks in advance! I have to admit that I was actually pretty disappointed when I first watched the (PG rated!) video. For me, there was no plausible concept visible, but thanks to Bastard of 1967's amazing post I kinda got the message of it. Thanks for the input! I'm not the most creative person in the world, but I'm sure there are tons of other options to make a video for that song. To me, the song has some kind of summer feeling which is somehow transported by the melody and the music, so they could have gone into that direction. Or maybe stick to the general theme of the video as it is now, but add something else to it, something more exciting. It was so boring, I was tempted to just stop watching somewhere in the middle. TheGreatAustralianMidgetToss
what a boring video... and where is the sexual tension Billie has been talking about??? even their opening bands create more sexual tension with easier methods and probably lower budget. *cough* Prima Donna *cough*
Fuzz
Yeah I don't think it's sexist. I think people who are looking for something to be outraged about will find it when they want to, but that wouldn't be their intent. I remain disappointed in the video because I still believe it's pointless. I've read some of the analysis from fans about what it could mean, but if they were truly aiming for this intellectual artsy subcontext about growing up and sexual tension, it was just badly done. It didn't leave me feeling "oh yeah, there was something deep in there." It left me feeling "...what a pointless boring video." There wasn't tension, sexual or otherwise. If that's what they were trying to build, they failed (in my opinion). I don't care that there are skimpy dressed women, I don't care that they're all sitting around watching Green Day play. It's how the thread is woven that bothers me. What I take away from the video is "there's a group of skimpy women tolerating Green Day play Oh Love." That's boring. I say tolerating because they don't even seem into it, at least the band gets a hint of energy during a couple parts. It doesn't excite me about the song, it doesn't make me want to watch it again or listen to the song. Music videos don't need to have incredible depth to them, but if the point of a video is to promote a song and album, you should take away more than "well ... that's a video." netty
they buggered it up basically. but then.... what is the last music video you can remember that actually represents the song? what is the point of videos these days??? all I get from reading the forums is that people want to see the band. otherwise they just want to hear some new music. they need to get away from the artsy fartsy stuff. if tthere is a "meaning" behind it then it needs to be pretty bloody obvious. otherwise its just another" tits and ass, look at me I`m a rock star video" if this was supposed to take the piss out of other videos.....it didn`t work. Met Fan
Once I realized I wasn't watching some 80's Madonna video and I double checked it's the Green Day song; I was impressed, they actually managed to make the video more boring than the song. There's no meaning to justify this, it's just lazy, uninspired and severely lacking in creativity, it's stands for everything Sam Bayer is and even looks like. Good for him though, he scored another gig with Green Day and probably made great use of all the "models" in the video who look like they would otherwise be very expensive high end stuff heh But the Green Day fellas themselves are the ones who puzzle me, they have never sunk that low even at their most desperate times, lounging with prostitutes? really? I know their behavior has changed dramatically since American Idiot and how they openly declared "embracing the rock and roll life style" which they have avoided for a long time before that but I wouldn't have ever thought they'd make such a fundamentally lame display. I have served Know Your Enemy a happy memo informing it that's it's no longer my least favorite Green Day video. Having said all that; I'm still looking forward to the albums and the tour, Green Day has got me for life
