Robin105
I think everybody's overreacting. The video looks great. So what if there are sexy girls in it and the band is making out with them. It's just a music video. It's just acting. Jeez everytime the band does something people complain. I love everything and anything the band does. You all just need to get over it. Sorry if I sound like a bitch, I just had to get that off my chest.

Iminyourcoffeemaker
You people are fucking ridiculous. There has been one official single from this album and everyone is freaking out and ready to jump ship. Its ridiculous. As for, "is this what Green Day is actually like backstage?" IM SURE there are scantly clothed women every where but these guys are fucking married. They probably party after every single show, and then fucking pass out. They seem like genuine guys who like to have fun. Give them a break, wait for all the albums to come out, and enjoy. Stop acting like they are losing their minds. They are a super exciting band doing super exciting things.

I don't believe they are, but it is a tiny bit off putting to see married men glamorizing that aspect of being in a band. I can see what they were attempting to achieve with the concept, I just don't feel they should be the ones acting it out. I guess we'll have to wait and see how it transpires. solongfromthestars
I know nobody will listen, but at least try to let people have their opinions. Not everybody is forced to love everything the band does. If someone has an opinion about something, it's not going to change just because Green Day do it. Whenever people dislike something the band does, others just assume that they're complaining and being haters, which is not what anybody means. They just don't like the idea, and that's okay. Give room for people to overreact, this band means so much to them. Their initial reaction might be worse than their final reaction, which is only human. If you don't like it then you can just ignore their posts and share your own opinion. Arguing with them isn't going to make them feel differently. angry_robot
Okay guys, as a person who is involved in music video making industry, I can say that I never really liked any of Sam Bayer's videos he made for Green Day. I honestly don't think that he's a very good director. I don't hate any of Green Day videos he directed, but they're always just having lack of some kind of general idea. When you make music video you've got 3 options in general: (this is my opinion btw, I don't say that it is the Ultimate Truth) 1. You've got an intresting story, some characters and storyline, or just something funny which is making video some kind of short film that is intresting to watch (like WMUWSE or Warning and Walking Contradiction) 2. You don't have anything special in terms of story, but you make extremely cool picture with visual effects or maybe some new lightning techniques or some stop-motion, or time-lapse or slow-motion or anything else you can think about (like in Ok Go or Coldplay videos, or Green Day's Basket Case and Waiting) 3. You shoot band playing live during some show with real crowd and everything. And the 4th option - you rent studio, film band playing and rent some girls to shake their asses near them. Result = shit. Unfortunately, most of Sam Bayer's videos don't have any storyline and don't have anything new in terms of filming. Yes, he rented studio and set up the lights and everything looks nice but that's just it. Nothing new, nothing special. Well there're exceptions of course, like WMUWSE or JoS, but still I don't really like Sam as a director. As for Oh Love, of course I want to see full version, but as it seems now, it's not gonna be anything worth to watch over and over again. Anyway, I don't watch TV at all and Green Day makes music, not videos, so I don't really care much if this video is shit. It just means that Sam Bayer is a crappy director and that's it. Sixtrix
It really is way too early to jump to conclusions about the video after seeing small bits. Alright maybe the video will be shit to some people's opinion in the end, but I've survived some of Green Day's (in my opinion) less interesting music videos. So we'll be alright after being a bit sad or disappointed. I'm sure there will be some really great videos to come after this one.
Ritz
Eh I'd write my final feel about the video after watching it completely. I guess I over-reacted. Not anymore.
WestboundSign!
I don't know how I feel about this, actually. All I know is that it's not really what Green Day has always been representing for me. I'm not gonna say that I don't like them anymore just for a video or that I'm gonna jump "off the ship" or anything like that. That would be ridiculous and I know that. I still love this band to death but that's probably what makes seeing this even harder. It's not as if this video was completely unexpected and unacceptable. Still it's showing something that makes me feel uncomfortable or that at least isn't really my "morality". I have nothing against these women being in the video, that's nothing new, I guess. But at least for me it's weird to see them rolling around or whatever with the members. This is just my opinion, tough. This band can do whatever they want, whatever they feel like. I won't judge until I've seen the whole thing. I still hope it's better than I expect it to be right now, really..

Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love
I think it's an interesting interpretation of the song. If it weren't for the actual words "Oh love" it even fits the lyrics. It's not exactly love though. Should've been "oh lust" or something. That said, I have to say that I'm disappointed. I don't know what the whole video is like, but what we've seen now kind of looks like they're desperate for attention and air time. It looks weak. Especially since they interact with the girls, as if that's their usual thing, hanging out in a backstage brothel. They're free to do whatever they like and have whatever image, before anyone starts to throw shit, but I don't have to approve of it. I hope that the full video is more artsy or making a statement than "look, it's nearly naked women!!", that could save the whole thing, but at the moment I'm not very happy with it and I feel like this isn't the band I know that is above showing off with [edit: objectified] women in their clips. I don't know, it's weird because I never thought of Green Day as a "partying with scantily clad women" type band. It'll be interesting to say the least. Well, Tre certainly seems to be that guy, at the very least. It's really shit quality, but from what I could see in that video, there seem to be some more surreal-looking elements (and I'm still trying to figure out where those damn animal costumes are going to come into this lol). Billie's description of the video put me off more than what I was actually seeing on-screen...and for that reason, combined with my curiosity, I'm with-holding final judgements. But I would like to remind people *again* that The Network had music videos that also featured scantily-clad women touching themselves, making out with each other, and other sexual-innuendo-filled things. So I'm not 100% sure where the idea that this is something totally new that no one can ever imagine Green Day having in a video is coming from. farley drexel hatcher
The Network did have dirty videos, but for one thing those were never representing green day and for another, they weren't really interacting with the girls. I think it's the sudden keeness to be all "oh hey look I'm frolicking with naked girls back stage we're so rock and roll and hey we can still get totally hot girls just an average day for green day" that bothers me. They've never had that attitude before. Meh, it's not a big deal, but for the first time I might actually agree if someone calls them sellouts over this. Also I have no problem with sexiness in videos, at all, if it has a point to it, which so far this doesn't look like it does

I have to admit that sometimes I'm a little too much in technical things when I watch videos and my opinion may seem a little weird for most people, so that's okay not to agree with me =) But I have to make my thoughts clear about AI videos American Idiot - band playing in front of big american flag Boulevard of Broken Dreams - 5 minutes of just walking. with a little piece of band playing. Holiday - again 5 minutes of band riding a car and having fun. with a little piece of band playing (but I have to admit that I love Tre in dress and there's a connection with BoBD video) WMUWSE and JoS have got storyline, as I said in my first post. I'm okay with these videos. And I like how Sam did Bullet in a Bible, much more plesant to watch than Awesome as Fuck. But still I think that it's just sucks to do all these "band playing and girls shaking ass" videos. But maybe I'm overreacting, yeah. Let's wait for the whole video. Hermione
The song and new albums are sexy! I think a sexy video fits with that just fine and I'm looking forward to it. I don't believe those women are gonna just be there for the sake of it purely to sell the video and titillate the viewer (which I think is what Green Day have objected to before when talking about scantily clad women in videos - I don't think they're against sexiness and showing some skin, they're only against it being done for the wrong reasons as far as I can see). I think there will be a point to it and the video will make sense with the song. It's about wanting sex with someone, so maybe the video will be about the temptation of sex or maybe a contrast between romance and just sex. Have to wait until we've seen the video to find out.
