Hedwig
I really just lost a bunch of respect for Sam Bayer. As for the band, I guess I just hope that they don't stick with this kind of style. I don't know.
spark in the night
I didn't like Oh Love to begin with. Then I started to like it. Then I saw this video. And all that flew out the window. I'm not even going to put this song in my library when I get the cd. This song seriously should have been a b-side or just cut from the trilogy entirely. And the music video seals the deal for me on that opinion. I'm going to forget this song and video ever existed.
Harinezumi
I won't be posting the video on my Facebook, because it is against everything I believe in. If you need half naked girls to sell your music, you are not talented enough in my book. I don't care if it's meant to be funny or "insight into 40-yr-olds' lives" or whatever. People won't get it, they will only see the titties and the band. I like porn, I WATCH porn. All kinds of porn. Mmmmm, porn... But they really didn't have to make a video like this. I've never liked Sam Bayer and this video makes me dislike him even more.
Eldoon
Here's the essay you didn't ask for - I wanted to put it in spoilers so as not to clog up the thread (I've got many, many things to say) but couldn't find the spoiler button thingy so sorry for that. HERE HERE. "Like" this post so hard. Extremely eloquent takedown and summation of feelings. THANK YOU.

And like also, why did they use skinny models for the video? If you wanted to put some boobs in your music video, at least pick good looking boobs. I was kind of expecting something like that to happen at the end...

Firecracker Lell
Didn't like the video. I Still love Green Day. Bands make bad videos sometimes, doesn't mean the band or the music is bad. Just wanted to see more Green Day and less poorly dressed women
farley drexel hatcher
Yeah I saw the bit where tre goes to touch the girls underwater string thing on a gif on Tumblr and ew no, disgusting. I'm kind of past this video now, over it, but it is still disappointing. I honestly have no real idea what the band were thinking when they decided it'd be appropriate for a music video. But eh, whatever. Really the only ones it'll embarrass/possibly damage is themselves.

It's the way he does it while her back's sort of turned and with that expression on his face. Just makes me feel a bit vomit-y. And I'm really hoping some of this 'feedback' or whatever you want to call it gets back to them, but I doubt it.

holyshitaflyingbanna
What if they made this video really really bad to lower our expectation for Kill The DJ but then when they release it it would be really good(and im hoping to see Jason blown to hell with a bitch ton of old school 80's-90's squibs). Jack [DF]
I absolutely hate the video. It's stupid. It's sexist. The naked women have absolutely nothing to do with the message of the song, they're just there for men to ogle them. I really thought GD had more class than that. matteo263
I'm really really disappointed! Not just because the video is not really great but also because they are doing exactly what they said they didn't want to do! They are trying to sell sex! Is that the integrity the band members have?! They have now turned themselves into the 'new media' they so hated during the AI and 21CB eras.....so much for not being part of the modern world. I still love their songs and I am still amazed by their performances, but the way they are promotinh themselves is disappointing: up to AI they were original ....now they are presenting themselves as the same shit as the rest of the pop world.....which I am sure we agree that they are not! I am really hoping the Kill the DJ would be better!
solongfromthestars
The actual video as a thing - oh dear. If it's meant to be about 'sexual tension' then why do they not seem particulary attracted to the models ? There's no chemistry, little interaction and when they are together, I just want to die of cringe. And correct me if I'm wrong, but is sexual tension not supposed to be more of a subtle thing between two people that perhaps don't know how to express it ? Why not get a whole group of men & woman to act this out 'backstage' while the band play on a 'stage' somewhere ? It's a sort of potentially intersting idea gone horribly wrong. And I certainly don't think people should have to feel bad or apologise for not liking it. It's vomit inducing and makes me embarrassed to be a (soon to be former if they carry on like this) GD fan. I'm over the video now, it's just bad and that's it, but thank you for finally explaining what sexual tension actually is. It seems a lot of people were mistaking it for something else. I am really hoping the Kill the DJ would be better! Wait hold on a sec. How was the way they presented themselves during AI original? Dyed black hair, skinny jeans, and eyeliner. Sounds like almost every other pop punk band out at the time. And stop with all the "Green Day aren't pop!" because they are. They're as much pop as Lady Gaga. There's nothing "edgy" or "raw" or "hardcore" about their music. They're a pop rock act. They play pop songs. Pop is catchy accessible music. Music that is easy listening to everyone. That's what Green Day are. Their music is easy to listen to.
Sarahnade
Can we please stop with all of the comments saying that the video is sexist or objectifying women? If this video had men doing the same thing no one would give a shit, but when women come into the picture everyone suddenly has something to say. I think everyone is reading into this video way too much.
That Dude
Has anyone else noticed that the one girl looks a lot like Billie Joe's wife. I don't think it's actually her, but very similar. Oh, and the video is growing on me like the song did. Still not that impressed but liking it more and more every second.

gmcloughlin
Just after watching the R rated video. Overall reaction: I don't like it. I think that's mainly because of the guys behaviour towards the end. They're 40 year old men after all, why couldn't they have gotten male actors in and conveyed the sexual tension between them and the models while GD played? And Tré..... I cringed. No, not a fan of this video I'm afraid! Hopefully Kill The DJ will be better.

I think everyone is reading into this video way too much. I've just stayed out of this objectifying debate because I'd rather not get into it right now, but I just want to say that I at least hope some people would give a shit if it was men, because I would. Billie has obviously been dressed to show his flesh off which is the same concept as the girls, just on a milder scale. It's just as important, whichever gender. And that was more to do with my feelings on this particular subject rather than the Oh Love video so please nobody get angry and assume that I'm continuing to bash the video. /offtopic

angry_robot
You know what else is a problem with this video? Remember when Oh Love just came out and there were complains about song being too long? Now this incredibly boring (I'm not gonna say anything about girls or the band, everything nessesary has already been said here), this incredibly boring video makes song feel even longer. There's no action, absolutely and completely no action. Anyway, I watched it once and I don't think that I will watch it again, so I'm okay with the whole situation. It just doesn't bother me at all. Bastard of 1967
why couldn't they have gotten male actors in and conveyed the sexual tension between them and the models while GD played? The song's about what Green Day is personally experiencing and living as they age out of their past. At least the way it's done, it's authentic. Throw a bunch of random beefcakes in there and it becomes real fake real quick.
