Just saw the R rated version, it was a simple music video with edgy sexual tension! Oh love was also a simple song about sexual tension. I don't see why fans are so butthurt about this video! It's thousands of times better then Wake Me Up When September Ends

Nothing edgy about nipples. They're all round.

He stuck his finger up a girls very revealing dress.

Wow. The r rated video was a bit much, I think. It doesn't really bother me, I just never expected to feel like I was watching porn during a green day video.

I totally agree with whoever said they should have shown more of the girl with purple hair though, she was fucking gorgeous.

Is the interview up anywhere yet? I wanna watch it :(

Just gonna go ahead and say that this video was NOTHING like watching porn

The video turned out better than I thought it would, the guys looked great performing and the girls served their purpose of bringing the sexual tension across. My fear was mainly that it'd go beyond showing sexual tension into some sort of voyeurism vibe but it didn't imo. All I can accuse the video of is being quite boring and containing nothing more than a good looking band performance and the sexual tension portrayal.

About the thread, let me first just say that the few people saying the video was boring, then saying the R-rated version will probably better just make themselves look like pathetic horny teenagers. Is that really would would make a music video better for you? Throw some R-rated content in there and it'll all be fine. So shallow.

The above mentioned people might just be the cause of the next thing that annoyed me in this thread, oversensitive feministic women. If all you can see is women to attract the gaze of men you're just not listening to the music. Listen to what the song is about before deciding you're going to say the women are there for no reason. They're there to portray what the song is about… sexual tension… You make it seem like you have something against the existence of that concept. It's common for people, most of the time people of opposite sexes, to be attracted to each other. It's also common for an artist to write about life experiences, one of which is sexual tension. It's common for artists to then make a video to accompany that song and it's contents. Nothing more, nothing less happened. I didn't see anything overdone just to attract viewers with sexiness, all I saw was a very mediocre music video to accompany a song about sexual tension.

The R-rated version is a whole other story, it really just looked like it was forced in there for no reason, didn't add any value, absolutely nothing was better about the video and I have no idea why they thought it was necessary to make a version like that. I'm not going to stop you complaining about that one.

I didn't think the r-rated version was better for shallow reasons, semi naked women aren't a turn on for me lol. There's simply more going on in it and that makes it less boring. Plus if they're going for a feeling of "sexual tension" making it that bit more sexual makes the point more effectively imo. And again if the band are playing sleazy "rock and roll" characters surrounded by and tempted by women, showing their exploits a bit more graphically gets the characters across a bit better. It's still too dull and awkward, but it's an improvement.

Wow, that's an incredibly offensive and ignorant statement. Vile, really.

because she's such a dirty skanky whore, right?

I do realize that it's sometimes hard to distinguish between sarcasm and actual opinion, but I think you might need a lession.

And no, because it's been chewed and that's disgusting. Jesus Christ.

I don't see how that makes me a horny teenager. The R rated version showed the girls generally moving around more and actually showing a smile now and again instead of just sitting there or awkwardly fist pumping. Even if they had blurred out the nipples themselves, I would still prefer the R rated version because it seemed to fit with the theme of the song better. No need to jump to conclusions, jeez.

Actually most people are blasting it.

Also your second lines are contradictory. Why are people not allowed to defend it but allowed to blast it? I'm not even defending the video itself, of which I don't love but think it's okay. I'm trying to point out how warped some people's views are.

My point was that you're allowed to not like something Green Day puts out.

To me, Oh Love was a terrible choice for a lead single and for the most part is a bad song, but when I voiced my opinion, all I got was hate and comments saying why it's good. I'm just tired of seeing people defend it because the thought of they're favorite band putting out something weak is preposterous.

Okay, so I just got home from work and watched it. Was it a complete reversal from what Billie said when MTV didn't air the Waiting video? Yeah, kind of, but people contradict themselves all the time and people are fully allowed to change their minds. Steve Jobs said he would never release a video iPod and well... But on the other hand, was it a whore-fest that signaled the end of Green Day as we know them? No. It was just the band playing the song with a lot of scantily clad women giving the camera bedroom eyes a lot. It brought across the theme of y'know sexual tension without being too distasteful. In the end, it was a music video that made me watch it and listen to the song a few more times. That's really all you can ask from a music video. Not every video can be When I Come Around or Jesus of Suburbia.

Meh, debatable. I happen to quite like those videos, but to each their own I guess.

If you're talking about using drugs as an extension of yourself for things like art and music then that's just unfair.

Like athletes that take steroids.

What I mean is that you can drink with common sense and you can practice safe sex etc.

Well I understand that. I meant like getting shit faced and what not.

And I'm still going to wait til I at least graduate, don't want to risk anything considering I only have 2 years to go.

There is nothing wrong with waiting and I think it's good that you're so determined to do so. :)

I'm not really determined, my GF wants to wait til she's 18 anyway.

I just want to be the first in my family to actually graduate.

Just got home and saw the video.

I'm gonna be honest. Even Know Your Enemy was better than this. I don't mind the naked chiciks at all, they were actually pretty hot, I love tattoos. I just think there was just no need for them to be there. I must admit I am disappointed, the song is growing on me, but meh.

I don't think the video shows Green Day as a bunch of sleeze balls. I just think it shows how shitty Sam Bayer is as a director. I think Green Day just said alright to the idea and now have to support it. I don't really blame them.

So i guess that disco thingy is for Kill The DJ afterall, perhaps also that eailier mentioned motorcycle scene.

I'm enjoying the video so far, but i bet it will grow on me even more in a few days when I see a HQ version that is not pitched up to avoid copyright issues.

Also, link for the interview? No?
