Green Day Tweets

It's VIDEO music awards. I can't think of many rock videos that made an impact in recent times the way pop and rap videos are at the moment. If rock bands want to win video awards they need to make creative and innovative videos that push boundaries, currently they're not. Billie should take note and make sure Green Day's next album comes with outstanding videos if he doesn't also want to be left in the dust by pop and rap acts who've stepped their video game up.

MTV doesn't even play music videos anymore. I don't know how they can have an award show for them. The M in MTV doesn't  stand for music anymore either. They should call it ctv for crap tv and the s*it shows they have on. I haven"t watched the VMAs for over 10 years because it's gotten so bad. I can't stand the rap and pop crap that's out now. Rock needs to come back in a big way!

I get what he means, though. There's no representation for that type of music on TV at all anymore. You have bands doing sell out international tours all through their online presence. Which is great, but it's never going to reach as many people as TV does. Seems like a waste.

I was hoping with the re-surge of Fall out Boy's and even  half boy band/ "rock band" 5 seconds of summer's popularity, it would start a snowball effect on having rock bands be more recognized and mainstream.

It's just a matter of time I still have hope.

Anyways here is an article about Billie's tweets:

It's one of the reasons why Green Day being absent and inactive for a long period of time worries me, because they are one of only a few bands who are quality enough to release that one single or album to, as dramatic as it sounds, save the genre, and bring it back to the main stream. However it makes me happy that the live music environment will always be dominated by rock :)

@EricSandt nah but he bought a t-shirt ?

Ps. They are talking about the gig at 1234 Go where California and Danger also played that night.
