I think that they are easing him into it and maybe by the time the next era comes along he will be in all the promo shots! I personally like Jason but its kind of weird to see my favorite trio change it up but who knows change can be good i guess!

Jason is more involved with Green Day than either Freese or Jeff. Freese is a session/touring musician; Green Day is one of many, many projects for him. Jeff is a normal guy from Arkansas who has been lucky enough to tour with Green Day a few times. Mr. White, by contrast, has spent the past decade of his life making music with Billie, Mike, and Tre. It's his full-time job. Just because he came along later doesn't mean he's a less legitimate member. By that line of thinking, Tre wouldn't be a "real" member either.

So the question was put to Jason about Quatro and the response was that it was a DVD but he didn't know more than that and then this was said:

fluke fanzine@fluke_fanzine

@GreenDayMind yep! I love that he doesn't know. He's always been like that w/GD. "Just tell me where to be and when."

Fluke Fanzine (user) isnt Jason, it is one of Jason's old Little Rock friends.

Jason to me has been part of Green Day for over ten years, i always felt for the guy because he gives so much but expects little in return.

I have no problem with him joining the band, its not as if things are going to change at all, if he all of a sudden started taking the lime light during shows by showing off then i might have a problem but that would never happen.

I don't think that hes helped in the studio means hes an "official" Green Day member...

But it makes me wonder if they would ever consider making him one... Or even if Jason would want to be..

I think not. But its an interesting dynamic.

Billie asked him before 21stCB I believe, and he said no.

Might have had a change of heart recently though.

At least I hope so.

By legal wise hes a official member and Billie said he was so....

Exactly my thoughts. He deserves to be part of the band for playing with them for almost 15 years and having played guitar on the new album.

But I don't think he should be a member like the other guys, if you know what I mean... it's good as it is right now, he stays on the side of the stage, rocks the guitar and that's all.

To be honest, I think that Billie, Mike, and Tre technically considered him, shall we say, an honorary member for some time. Though he may not be considered an official member because he isn't in photo shoots, I'm pretty sure the band considers him a part of the band anyway, especially now that he has gotten involved in an album and not just for touring.

I'd like that he joined but only if he was somewhat crazier, so he fitted better witht he crazy ambient. He just shouldn't be more normal than Mike for me to like him in the band. And he should talk too. But yeah, I think he deserves it.

He's pretty much already a member so I don't care if it's on paper. It'd be cool if he became officially official though, but everything works the way it is now.

Actually, that reminds me. I got a DVD of the making of one of his bands' albums. And on that DVD he was so much more talkative and 'out there' than he seems when with Green Day. I think it's just that he isn't one of the official members in interviews and in the spotlight, so the only time you really see him is when he's playing. And he's a really chill guitar player, so he really doesn't seem as crazy as the other guys on stage.

Seeing Jason right in there with the rest of the band in the photos in the Uno booklet makes me feel all warm and fuzzy . Good on him.

Let me preface this by saying that I do like Jason White! And I am totally fine with Billie saying he is part of the band, but like I just kinda hope he keeps doing what he does. Just rocking out with the guitar, and leave the interviews and photo-ops to Billie, Mike, and Tre! But I think that Jason deserves a spot in the band for sure..just as long as things stay the same :P

He might just prefer the anonymity that comes with not being a fully-fledged member of the band (in terms of photo shoots and interviews). Normal guy by day, rock star by night. :toocool: Like a badass Hannah Montana.

for me, he is a member of gd since he joined them to play guitar (was it 1999 or 2000, i can't remember the exact year) :D

He seems like a cool guy. Before I wasn't so keen on the idea of having him join but I've warmed up to the idea quite well. It'd also be nice to let Jason Freeze in the band as well. He also contributes a lot to the band and it's good to have a multi-talented person like himself around. In my opinion it's weird not to have both Jasons around.

As much as I love hearing the piano in many songs, Jason Freese abso-fucking-lutly ruins others by putting in random key solos and notes. especially on newer songs.

I was really really surprised to see him in Green Day photos and in Uno!. I wouldn't mind if he became an offical memeber. It would take me a while to get used to it though.

He's just so self-effacing. I think he's great, and I have a lot of respect for him, but his own attitude and demeanor are off to one side: that's where he puts himself. But ultimately it's up to the band to decide on their own dynamics, so whatever role they collectively choose is fine with me.

Can't say I agree, but I respect your opinion. I thought Jason Freese should have recorded a saxophone solo for the studio version of The Static Age because the live solo he did for that song blew Billie's guitar solo on the album version out of the water.

I love jason and I have so much respect for him. he does so much and gets so little in return, and he's okay with it. I think that if green day didn't have such a rapid fanbase, and they hadn't had the same lineup for almost 20 years, then he would be an "official member". i guess they're trying to ease him in almost. like he's THERE, but not...there....

I think Jason White being a member definitely makes more sense than Freese becoming an actual member. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say that he doesn't contribute to the live performances because he certainly does, but Jason has more of a presence in the band and is just closer.
