Jason White official Green Day member?

Hmm. Since that's secondhand - more like thirdhand - information, and I can't really verify it myself, I'm just going to take it with a grain of salt. Not saying I don't trust you or the other guy, but I'd rather wait until Green Day, Jason, Rob Cavallo, or some unarguably reliable source makes it clear. Since there's been no official statement, I'll just continue my skepticism and weighing the evidence. It's not a big deal though.

p.s. I've seen album liner notes where they list studio musicians equally with the actual band members. Can't remember which ones though, and I left all my CDs back home in the states while I study abroad here, so I can't look it up. But I know I've seen that a couple of times. Not common, but it happens. Who knows.

Well i dont see why the exec would lie about it i dont see why Billie would say they brought Jason in as 4th in GW why they would put a non member on the cover of the dvd but hey what do I know? The few stuff Ive said has happened but again what do i know...

I'm pretty sure only Rob Cavallo has called Jason White "unofficial", but I'm not totally sure.

My theory is after Uno's release they were going to start making more appearances with Jason White, but we all know what happened instead.

They also knew that everyone would flip out when they announced a fourth member, so I think they were trying to sneak it in there. I was barely born in '94 but my much older cousins told me that there was a similar fervor when Pat Smear was announced as a member of Nirvana; I think they were trying to avoid that. Speculation of course but It's all we've got until the band confirms it.

Jason's been around for forever now anyways. He's been a member in my eyes since I learned about him. And he's one of my musical heroes. The Influents and his work with Pinhead Gunpowder is fantastic.

Guest Just Another Joe

Patwas more than just a back up guitarist tho well compared to other bands he was in the stages of becoming more than just playing back up but sadly Kurt was too far gone by the time Pat came on board well at shows he did seem more lively during the Pat year

I agree with this. He was in the stages of becoming official and Kurt did say he would like him to join the band but unfortunately he died before any of that.

The Big Cats (Jason's band) is play a show in Little Rock on Saturday November 24th. That's 2 days before Green Day's tour. Seems like a weird time for Jason to do a show with them...

…think this means the fall tour is a a no-go?

He can easily play a show one night and then be somewhere else in 2 days

I don't think so. No one's ever done that. I think this means the tour is cancelled and they're probably breaking up. Yep sounds about right.

the big cats arent broken up they play when every member is available, since GD's tour is postponed indefinitely, jason has time until christmas to play with big cats... and in an article me and my sister has read, he's having a child in january. it's an article through the big cats.

theres the link to that story... but yeah...

and also im confused to which band you're pertaining to, so i just wanted to put some input of jason and the big cats. :)

Jason is a tricky one. I think, even if he becomes (or has become) an 'official' member, to me Green Day will always be BJ, Mike and Tre. Nothing against Jason - he's an awesome guy and an amazing guitarist, but the trademark of the 'Green Day trinity' is an image which goes back too far to change now.

He wasn't talking about the Big Cats. He was just joking that because the planned shows clashed it meant Green Day must be breaking up (because of how people always overreact to everything). Thanks for the article though! What nice news.

As long as jason never writes any GD somgs, idgaf what he is.

why, because in PHGP and his solo work, he's a pretty good writer.

I like his PHGP work, but Green Day is Green Day. Y'know? Jason has that different feel.

I havent really heard too much of the PHGP except the life during wartime (thats PHGP right?) so dunno how different sounding Jason's writing is

But Green Day doesn't to me have just one style they can and have done several styles I wouldnt be opposed to hearing a Jason GD song if he did and they released it gotta have some quality to it but i dont think Jason is gonna start writing songs just causes hes a member now

I mean they have had Mike singing on some songs (Mike is an excellent bassist cant really stand him doing lead vocals i know people gonna be jumpin all over me-- sorry Danny) so a Jason song couldnt be horrible lol

You should really check out PHGP. If not, at least the songs that Billie wrote, like 27, Anniversary Song, and Jason's Cabot Gal

At the beginning of the Quatro! credits it says

"Green Day

Billie Joe Armstrong

Mike Dirnt

Tré Cool

Jason White"

I think we can put this one to rest.
