Don't know why, but Billie looks very American Idiot-ish. Maybe it's the eyeliner. ....What? Someone had to mention his looks. :P ....But good lord, I want to slap her. Apparently only Billie can pull off the "y'knows" without it being annoying as hell.

Either that or we all "love" so much that we don't care what the fuck he does. It's all super-adorable to us.

Can someone explain why they think Billie Joe is above this or how this in anyway is belittling?

wow, youre right. its just only a forum to talk about green day and the things that they do as a band or seperate, where fans can say what they want and how they feel about news about the band. im sure that when they created the website, they didnt want anyone to write how they felt in these forums, or have any opinion polls for that matter, and im also sure that everytime you posted that someone always asked you to.

lol chill out, man. it's one thing to say you don't like something, it just seems entitled to say you don't agree with it and wish he didn't want to do it.

Whatever Billie wants to do doesn't really bother me once he keeps making good music.

That said I won't ever watch a show like this

All day all I've read/heard is how butthurt everyone is by this. Um...why? You don't like the show? Don't watch. Feel like you HAVE to because Billie's going to be lending his advice and experience? Stop complaining. Don't like Christina? Oh well. Seriously, there is absolutely nothing to get upset about over this. And I'm really struggling to understand why people are whining so much about it. Would everyone still be complaining if he'd been on any other team?

yes, i know billie joe can do whatever he want, etc. etc.

watching the video, it's just so odd to see christina aguilera and him (and the scary voiced interview person) all having a chat, and the name "britney spears" mentioned. it's just strange.

i'm not whining, or complaining, it's just... odd.

Billie Joe Armstrong On 'The Voice': An Old Punk Learns A New Trick

Why the Green Day frontman's decision to join 'The Voice' may actually be the most punk-rock thing he's done in years.

This is actually a really good article and I don't even know which parts to highlight because I want to highlight it all.

I haven't listen to The Voice up to now, but I will listen to it for sure! I respect people who don't like it, but I think that it's nice to see one of my favorite artist on tv. It has been a long time since we heard punk rock in singing tv shows (well, the ones I listen to), so maybe more people will like and discover Green Day because of that. The guys do whatever they want, they don't have to ask us before! I can't wait to see the show, it will be a nice way to improve my english. ;)

I'm just really excited to see Billie on TV consistently for the first time ever. I don't really watch TV, but now I have a reason too.

Excellent article!!! Well-written, informed, positive - I love it.

(And I like the kind of self-jab at MTV, haha! They deserve it though - they shouldn't have stopped playing music videos. And replaced them with crap reality tv shows. )

THe moment I watched the video on GDA and watched that part in your sig I instantly knew someone would already have made a .gif out of it and have it as a sig. I wasn't wrong (expec for some reason I expeted for that someone to be Florence )

And anyways... meh, I'm not particuallry thrilled about this, but I'm not upset either. I've never watched the show (or heard of it until now to be honest), so I guess I'll watch the first episode when it airs in September and decide from there. Anyhow, by what I've heard about the other coaches/mentors/whatever, it does seem like Billie could bring a very nice and much need variety into the show, and that at least is always good, so I'm a bit curious to see how he'll fit into this.

And people (Green Day fans I mean, or at least most of them) take everything Green Day or its members do too seriously. You don't have to like everything they do. If there's something you don't like or are unhappy about, it doesn't mean they stop being your favourite band or you just stop liking it altogether. So if you don't agree with Billie being on this show, then move on. So many Green Day stuff to look foward to during this yea,r it doesn't seem worth it to focus your energy on being negative about this one thing.

At any rate, this seems tome like a smart way to promote the trilogy to a whole new kind of audience. And that is never a bad thing.

Great article, thanks for sharing it.

And from that same article this, exactly this:

To that end, I get the feeling Armstrong probably realized the inherent ridiculousness in being called a "sellout" just after Dookie went supernova, so he's probably not losing any sleep over this latest round of accusations. And while he's not exactly a sneering, snotty punk rocker anymore (I don't know him personally, so it's entirely possible he does his sneering and snotting in private), a part of me wants to believe that his joining "The Voice" might also be the most punk rock thing he's done in years. Whether he knows it or not, he now has a chance to become the most subversive person on network TV, a tattooed mischief-maker who strongly urges contestants to sing Dead Kennedys songs and occasionally makes a Mitt Romney joke. At the very least, maybe he'll drop an f-bomb on live TV. You know, good stuff like that

I never would have expected this, but I'm pretty neutral about it. Never seen the show before, so I'll definitely give it a shot when the next season starts! Like people have said, I'm sure Billie wouldn't have said "yes" if he wasn't actually interested in doing this. I wonder what type of mentor Billie will be though. All I can imagine right now is him, his awkwardness, and his y'knows.
