The butter man attacks Green Day yet again.

He doesn't believe in Fashion but he does believe butter and fake reality TV

He is depressed 'cause he isn't more important nowadays. And he decided to offend Green Day because they are called a punk-rock band ( and this name can be questioned as even GD isn't sure whether they should be called like this or not ).

What a damn asshole. I wonder if it's true that he chased Green Day out of a room. If it is, then he's even worse for trying to tell people what to believe in.

Not that happy, Idiots are too lazy to vote more than once

Seriously, you should only be able to vote once in music awards. Otherwise it's just a contest to know what fanbase has less social life, or whatever but the most talented will most likely not win.

I agree that there are contests where idiots should vote more, but it says on the site: "Your vote will only be counted once per category"

But I'm not sure if it's once for a day, only once on each computer or device, or.. how?

I hope it's once per computer device. I don't see the point for infinite votes, it just decreases the value of the contest and makes it more unfair.

I know... :(

But still, I'm voting every day all I can while I'm on internet. If the thing is to vote every time you want, then I'll do it for my band.

One thing in that article really struck a chord with me:

Green Day on "Uno!," "Dos!" and "Tre!" sounds like a band that doesn't want to reenter the political realm but is unsure of what new realm to enter.

I think that is absolutely 100% accurate. You can tell from the wide array of emotions and topics and regressive themes on this trilogy that they were sick of being "serious political punks" so they went as far away as possible, but didn't quite find their new place, as it were. This trilogy seemed experimental in the same way Nimrod was, testing many different styles to find what their new, next direction will be. Personally, I hope these albums have illuminated for them a healthy balance between politically/socially conscious songwriting and sex-driven fluff. I think Tre showed their strengths lie where they always lied... in songs like X-Kid, Dirty Rotten Bastards... things that aren't "Fuck Time" but aren't "American Idiot" either (and both of those songs are fun and exciting, but thematically reduce Green Day to singular identities that they don't want to be pigeon-holed in). Basically, the topics that Green Day wrote about throughout the 90s... but more mature.

Billie needs to start dating again. We need more poppy love songs. Stay the Night, Stray Heart, and Missing You aren't enough for me

I kinda don't agree with that quote. Why do they have to enter one so called "realm." I'd rather them experiment like they did with Nimrod than just stick to one style.

I don't think they have to or should enter a specific realm, I'd certainly get bored of them if they did, but that is definitely why these albums felt overwhelmingly scattered and also explains the general media reaction to them. The public and media always needs to put labels on things, "that's a political band" or whatever. And labels suck. I agree, I don't want Green Day to stick to a realm, but I do hope they've dabbled enough in certain styles and realize it's not their strength (*cough*Nightlife*cough*) And FWIW I think they do have a realm, it's the kind that kicks ass and resonates emotionally with people, whatever that is :)

Though I should say that Nimrod is my least favorite album because I can't make sense of it. I understand why it was the way it was and I'm so glad it exists because it helped them test out waters that led to my favorite albums immediately after that. So in that sense, I really hope the trilogy provided them the same kind of outlet.

I see what you're saying. Either way, these guys were put in a lose-lose situations by releasing three albums. To some, it may seem all over the place, but if the trilogy was full of songs that had the Uno vibe to it, then people would criticize the lack of variety throughout. Again, I see what you mean; however, I feel as if giving each three albums a different style was a great thing :)

Stray Heart is about infidelity though? You forgot 8th Avenue Serenade too. And Sweet 16. And Fell For You. My God Fell For You is so gushy.

This. I've said it once, I'll say it again: the Trilogy is it's own worst enemy.
