Slave To The Network
Travis Barker is an excellent drummer. Listen to the self titled Blink 182 album, there's almost no really fast songs on it but it's his best drumming by far. I was just talking about drumming in general. I wasn't referring specifically at all to Travis Barker's drumming skills. I don't even listen to Blink 182 so I'm not even able to make that judgement. But maybe I should check them out at some point.

Oh, if you like Green Day you should definitely like Blink, as long as you don't mind a bit more juvenile lyrics. Enema of the State is a landmark pop punk album, and a good place to start if you want to listen to them.

I've heard some songs on the radio by them that I liked, but just never bothered go any further.

I guess Blink made some landmark pop-punk albums, but really they aren't even close to being as good as green day, imo at least. Tried to get into it never could. Always just found them ultra-juvenile and they never changed at all. But I did like their recent single Up all Night for some reason. I know some true fans didn't like it too much. At least not as much as older stuff...
WhiteTim
Dunno bout Travis's drumming in Blink (i have onlythe heard whatever thatsit played on radio) but the drumming he does on his hip hop productions are good as hell... It's where they get serious, and it's their best album by far, and one of my favorites ever. Trust me.

No Rhyme Or Reason
Oh look, they're admitting it. Haha, speaking of Green Day being the Network, if you look at ASCAP and search for Billie Joe Armstrong under writers, it shows a list of all songs that he's written. It includes all of Green Day's songs, the Foxboro Hot Tubs songs...... and the Network songs! All the Network songs were written by Billie, Mike, and Tré. If that's not official proof, I don't know what is! https://www.ascap.com/Home/ace-title-search/index.aspx Just so you know, ASCAP is a performing rights organization. They collect royalties every time a song is played on radio, tv, etc, and pay the artists/writers accordingly. ASCAP and BMI are the 2 main ones in America. All songs on ASCAP have to be officially registered, so their info is totally accurate.

No Rhyme Or Reason
Why are there two Christie Roads, and what are Hot Revolver and Unforgivin? I'm not sure why there are two Christie Roads... Usually it's because there's another version, or the lyrics or something was changed, but I'm not sure for this one. Hot Revolver is by Lil' Wayne, and he quotes Basket Case in it. He sings "Do you have the time to listen to me whine," so Billie gets writing credit (even though he had nothing to do with the rest of the song). Unforgiven is a song Billie helped write for the Go Gos. Same case with Private Hell and Supermarket by Iggy Pop, since Billie helped write those too. By the way, it's interesting that When It's Time only lists Billie as a writer - I guess Mike and Tré didn't help on that one? And Nightlife doesn't include Mike or Tré either. Interesting.... It's fun knowing this extra stuff!
solongfromthestars
And Nightlife doesn't include Mike or Tré either. Interesting.... It's fun knowing this extra stuff! Billie only wrote the line "taking a ride to my old haunt" in Nightlife, the rest was written by Lady Cobra. I hope she's actually credited too! I hope she's actually credited too! Yep, it says Nightlife was written by Billie and Monica Painter (aka Lady Cobra). Are you sure he only wrote that one line?? It seems like he must have had more input than that.... Another thing I noticed is all the other songs from the trilogy are written by Billie, Mike, and Tré. No Jason White though - some people thought he may have helped write the new songs, but apparently not.

Amber.
Received yet another issue of Rolling Stone in the mail today. It just so happened that it had a short review on Dos. The second installment in Green Day's ambitious trilogy of albums opens with "See You Tonight," a bare, ragged benediction where Everly Brothers harmonies mask stalker-y undercurrents, and puppy love might turn nasty if you don't text back soon. Like Uno, Dos is full of these moments, where the band follows lineal threads from Dookie-era punk into all manner of overheated angst - nervy-Jam mod soul on "Stray Heart," Who-mad maximum R&B on "Wow! That's Loud," even mascara-streaked soul balladry on the album-closing "Amy," where Billie Joe Armstrong makes like the skate-park Sam Cooke. Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool harness the sound of immolating, teenage-wasteland lust for an album with a distinct sense of life coming off the rails: "I can't stand for fallin' down / I'm too sick to throw up," Armstrong sings against a Wipers-like downstroke riff on "Lazy Bones." He went to rehab in September. Yet while you can read all about the pathos you want into Ashley," a plea for a meth-addicted friend that comes on like a runaway ambulance, the angst here is as archetypal as it is personal. At times, it's just as election-year urgent as American Idiot, despite being packaged as a batch of shit-hot punk purges with titles like "Fuck Time" rather than a grand rock opera. I'll trade you blood for dirty cash," Armstrong promises on "Stop When the Red Lights Flash." In any guise, dude channels the voice of America. I would just like to add that Rolling Stone has been using photos from that photoshoot for their Green Day articles for a very long time now. I guess he could have written the verses after she wrote the rap but they do seem more like her style than his.
