Saw this on UG  Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown was ranked at #10 for worst albums done by great bands :P

Hmm. I still don't understand the hate for 21CB! It's a great album! In my top 3 by Green Day, anyway. I love how varied it is instrumentally, and the piano and falsetto  ... Oh well. I don't really know any of the other albums on the list.

The fact that it won the Grammy for Best Rock Album mean squat to anyone? It's not my favorite by a long shot, but it's technically impressive as a work of art.

not GD news but apparently Jack White stormed off stage last night at one of his concerts after playing only 45 minutes. Most of the comments consist of "first billie joe now him? wtf is happening!" thought it was kind of funny, maybe Billie started a movement

Exactly! Easy to recognize as a masterpiece even if it's not your thing. I really will never understand the hate.

i think 21stCB was pretty good, maybe a bit over-produced and not as good as AI (but the album was really hard to top, so..), but lyrically i think it's one of their best albums ever...and i wouldn't call it THAT bad that it has to go into that list of the 10 worst songs by great bands...

Whaaaaaat, I love 21CB (the song) :o this is the first song I heard with being aware that THIS is Green Day, and it was so amazing that I rushed into the next music store and bought Nimrod (Fortunately they didn't have 21st century breakdown and American idiot, why ever :D) and international super hits. Damn, this song is so good.

Not sure how new this is, but I'd never seen a video of Green Day performing Rockaway Beach at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2002 before (along with Teenage Lobotomy and Blitzkreig Bop)

Thanks for that, I've never seen that either, wonder why all the other videos cut out the middle song ???

I don't get that either. Ignoring the 'trilogy' for the moment, as they would have to be out for a year or two to see where they 'fit in', 21CB comes 2nd only to AI in my opinion. I also love, as you have mentioned, the variety of song styles, different instruments etc. In fact, the only reason I put it after AI, is because I feel one song (Last Night On Earth), lets it down slightly, whereas I love every single track on American Idiot.

Billie Joe number 8 on list of Top 11 Rock Alternative Guitarists

We asked, and you answered. After presenting a diverse field of 25 alternative rock guitar heroes, the almost 60,000 votes from readers have been tabulated to result in your Top 11 Alt-Rock Guitarists of All-Time.

8. Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day) Punk’s reigning prince remains an underrated guitarist, despite a seemingly endless bag of riffs and the ability to rip out a blistering solo when necessary.

Did you see him do that pouty lips look? He's such a Jagger.

Wow Billie you are creepy when you are fucked up

Even his body language makes me uncomfortable

You 2 barbie dolls are kidding right? You were uncomfortable - do you know what's uncomfortable? Have you been listening at all? (BTW, it was all about you)

7 Bad Ass On-Stage Incidents More Punk Than Green Day

A very long time ago, Green Day was a punk band. A fairly decent one too. Like most aging rockers though, they reinvented and retooled until they became the alt-rock advertising powerhouse thing they are today. Never has the disparity between what they were and what they are been more on display than at the “I Heart Radio” festival.

Luckily, there are still plenty of acts out there that have had melt downs, smashed stuff, and even started riots without making excuses and press releases the next day.

According to John Roecker on Facebook, the Go-Go's dedicated the song "Unforgiven" to Billie Joe at their show last night. I guess he helped them write the song. :)
