Next number of italian Vanity Fair. On the cover: GREEN DAY- Your kids don't have sex?

I'd like to read it!!

http://greendayitaly...on-fanno-sesso/

I've found the scans, there's an interview but it's pretty hard to read.

-Vanity Fair: Aren't you afraid that your kids would feel embarrassed while hearing you singing about the things you do in your bed?

-Billie Joe: I'm not, after all sex is the cause of their birth.

-VF: Sure, but most kids don't like to think about their parents doing that kind of activity.

-BJ: Even I don't like to think about my kids having sex. But you can't think about those things when you write songs.

-VF: What do you mean when you say you are a "conservative parent"?

-BJ: I want to know what my kids do. And I want to have an open dialogue with them. I became father when I was very young so there is not a big generation gap between us. Both Trè and I became fathers for the 1st time when we were 23, Mike when was about 24. Therefore we can talk about everything with them: music, boys and girls as the case may be, alcohol, drugs. The only thing I ask my kids is "don't lie to me"

Sorry for the mistakes!

There are some more questions on that article

Edit:

-VF: I guess you did it when you were younger

-Billie Joe: I had no choice. My mom was 40 when I was born. She didn’t remember how it was like to be a teenager. Also, I think that playing music helped us to stay younger. Feeling empathy for kids is not that hard.

-VF: by the end of the year the three of you will be 40. Is there anything you feel too old to do anymore?

-Mike: hang out with high school girls?

-Tre Cool: I’ll stop on my birthday!

-Mike: Honestly I don’t know or at least I don’t think about it. Even if after all you realize it when you break something.

-VF: what do you mean?

-Mike: yeah, you do things without thinking until something goes wrong and you say “ok, I’m too old for this”

-BJ: we still have a lot of energy and I think that this keeps us young. On the other hand you get wiser as time passes. Learning from your mistakes and realizing that you could make them again.

-Tre: exactly, because you hope that the second time they will not get you!

-VF: what mistakes are you referring to?

-BJ: I’m not referring to the band, I think that in that sense we never went wrong. I’m talking about those moments when you wake up in the morning having a hangover and you think: “I’ll stop drinking” but then you feel better and say: “let’s drink some beer!”

-VF: and where does wisdom lies?

-BJ: for example, in the awareness that life is out of our control. Wisdom has something to do with memory and I think that writing music can be helpful. Songs are like a diary of your life. You have to remember and understand your past in order to look forward and to imagine the things that can happen in the future.

-VF: During the previous presidential campaign you supported Barack Obama. Does the fact that these albums don’t deal with politics mean that he disappointed you?

-Mike: I wish he will get reelected and I think Billie Joe and Tre agree with me. He’s the smartest person we have at the moment. The other ones are fucking insane.

-VF: something like “the lesser of two evils”?

-Mike: No, Obama is smart and he knows how it’s like to be poor. He understands people’s needs better than the other politicians. He started working on several issues and I hope that he will complete them if he gets reelected. I don’t agree with every single thing he has done but the health care reform is an important matter, as well as the tax issue: the more you gain the more you have to pay. From a social point of view it makes sense. The problem is that a lot of people are afraid of the word “social”. Fuck them.

-BJ: I agree. Taxes on rich people and big companies would finance the health service and help small businessmen.

-VF: let's go back to sex: you know what they say, the less you make sex, the more you talk about it

Mike: it doesn't apply to me for sure.

Again, sorry for the mistakes / typos / crappy translation / whatever!

A girl in Paris, named Alice met Billie Joe in front of his hotel. Here's an article about it :

http://greendayparadise.net/site/578/alice-raconte-sa-rencontre-avec-bja-a-paris/#more-578

This week, Alice, a French fan, had the chance to meet Billie Joe in the streets of Paris and chat with him for a quarter of an hour. She tells us this event!

To be clear, on Wednesday (June 29) it happened to me the trick most giant of my life, or spend some time with billie joe armstrong in paris. Let me explain in more detail.

Photos of fans meeting billie joe (I have not seen a picture w / mike or tré) in front of the hotel, they had hidden the name of the street. I was not upset because I did not expect to like them, wait for me outside their hotel being particularly rude and not necessarily pleasant for the guys. However, seeing the barber across the street in the photo, I easily found the hotel in my neighborhood. This Monday or Tuesday, I know too. Well, I did not go with the idea of spy-but I felt like going home Wednesday afternoon, to go to the hotel, "for the trip" story to tell me they had been there a few days earlier. A bit silly I grant you, plus I was sure they were gone as they played in Germany in the evening!

Wednesday 29, noon-13h: I take the subway, walk a little and come down the street from the hotel. I walk past it without stopping. At this point, I say "good is good Alice, it was silly now emerges. "But a small part of me is tempted to board, without knowing why. I find it ridiculous but returns back down the street outside the hotel anyway. And just after passing it, I met a guy whose head tells me something strongly. Jason White. I barely have time to react or even realize that he is already back in the hotel. So I understand that it means they are still there. I promise not to wait and stay across the street, just to stay a minute or two to realize that I have seen and convince myself that I will surely see anyone else. But after just 30 seconds of waiting, I see a little guy out of the hotel. Glasses, a beret, black converse and a dress that I would look at 50km recognized in one second. Billie Joe. Walking in the street in front of me. I barely have time to convince me to take my courage in both hands I'm already quickly cross the street. He was at the corner of the hotel and a perpendicular avenue, close, looking at his iPhone. I take a deep breath and this is where it starts.

"Excuse me ... * he turns around * sorry but your billie joe armstrong, right?

- Ah, yep!

- Wow, I'm a huge euhm green day fan ahem, It's so weird goal awesome meeting you, uh, I do not want to be annoying .. ahem '

Something like that, I could not make a correct sentence, I was so intimidated. He sees me and I skate my hand:

"Nice to meet you! "We shake hands, and I take a little more confidence in myself.

- Nice for me too! I'm not Asking for a photo goal you think you Could sign anything for me?

- Oh, sure, you got a pen?

- Yep. "

I searched for a pen and paper in my bag. Stressed and excited, I can not find anything while he is still on his iPhone. Suddenly he asked me if I know where he could find a cafe in the corner. I told him I do not know exactly and asked why. He replied that he seeks his friends, who told him to be in a cafe near the hotel. "They may be on the Champs-Elysées then. "I answer. He mutters something like "yes, hm, They Told something like" fields ".. hm, right. " I finally found a pencil and paper (my seat concert dylan, I have found nothing more logical) when he took me out, "well come walk with me, okay? "I barely had time to nod it starts and I'm in the second.

To join fields, we need to mount an avenue and during this time I can stay calm and lead the conversation. I do not really remember how it started but I talk to him because I make music. He listens to me, when I meet briefly like "oh, cool" and began to ask me some questions. "So you're a student? You live at your parent's? "

I'm already more than pleased at this time but it is not finished. We finally arrived at champs Elysees. BJ decided to up the avenue, I let him and am surprised that since he barely knows where he is. Just before reaching the top of the avenue, I asked him:

"So you really do not know Where they are?

- Nah, that's alright purpose, I do not really need to find my friends anymore. Let's Have a walk just around. "

This response leaves me speechless, I explode inside and outside'm just timidly say "oh okay, cool. '

We turn to speak and we give walking. We talk a little paris (I wonder if it is to grow up here and tell me that the city is very beautiful). He saw my ticket dylan therefore leaves me 'oh you've seen Dylan live? "And I tell him a little, then said they (green day) are probably the best band I've seen live, with springsteen and e street band. I asked him if they are not tired with a series of concerts like this, "oh yes, but well .. it's cool playing shows! "He replied. I told him that I saw in RES Sunday and he replied "oh yes That was a very funny show." He then asked me if I saw the black keys to RES Saturday, I replied yes and told him that I did not thought it was awesome although they are gifted. Then I continue on noel gallagher and tells when it was released on scene "have I been the best so far? sour I have been! , "Which Billie Joe laugh. It evokes beady eye, he said he found that "it kind of sounds like the beatles but well .." I told him that I understand what he means, beady eye part of these groups resembling English a bit of "fake beatles" and he nods.

After several minutes, you realize that you no longer know where we are, even me. I ask if he wants to find the direction of the hotel, "why not" he answered and I told him so he would find the champs Elysees. "Oh here's the main street again." He quips when we get there. We find the avenue down to the hotel and take. Meanwhile, he continues to send sms to his friends but dictating rather than writing them. "Must be fun," I told him. "Oh well, that 's easier When You Walk, I do not want to be hit by a car." (What he had also avoided a few minutes before x)) I say "oh yeah. Would be lots of people sad. "What makes him laugh. Cynicism, perhaps? He also said that he had a terrible hangover the day (Tuesday 28) and it was a horrible mood and (unrelated) friends never cease to wonder about the new clip. (I thought when he spoke of Oh Love! So do not ask questions, but it was surely Kill the DJ now that I think ..). BJ then see a street that seems to be interested. "What's this street? - Hm, i do not know, why? - I do not know .. it's your city, you should know! - I know, i know, let's go see .. 'We cross to see the street, I recognize and luis say it is a main street of paris with luxury stores like he has already view. "Oh ok, let's go to the hotel then. '

We're almost out to me: "so you're gonna write about it in your writing class this year, I guess? "If I have the opportunity, surely, is what I answered, adding that I've written a English assignment on him when we had to describe a person of your choice and I wanted to do original . I realize that it's extremely groupie and I hasten to say that "but I'm not being has fangirl! "It does not seem to understand. "A what? - Fangirl? - Hm, what does That mean? - Well you know, some fans, Especially girls, are like 'i know two songs green day goal I love you SO much, and you're so handsome!' "The imitation is clearly my laughter, my joy. "Oh I see" he replied. I think he mentioned the fact that they play a lot of songs "old school" now live, which is pretty cool. What he responds by explaining that it is difficult to make new albums with setlists for playing songs that the public has not heard before 40,000 people, it is not obvious.

We therefore arrive at the hotel. I hasten to ask him: "oh can you just sign my ticket dylan? - Yep, sure, what's your name again? - Alice. - Alice? - Yes. "I thank him too, I hug, I throw a" german enjoy the ride! "To which he replied something like" yeah, have a good time "which does not make much sense but I do not pay much attention so I'm happy. And I did not run after him to ask him to repeat.

These were some incredible 15-20 minutes, discuss with heroes like this is not something that is believed possible, especially since it was adorable, complimenting me on my English and apologizing for me to run " much. " In short, this is the kind of experience I wish all the fans!

A girl in Paris, named Alice met Billie Joe in front of his hotel. Here's an article about it :

The way that was translated annoyed me a bit :P But anyway, nice story I guess. I just don't get one thing. She talks about meeting Billie in Paris, and she talks about having seen them perform at RES on Sunday. That was last Sunday, right? Where does the June come from then.. Shouldn't it have been August 29th? Which was when they were in Germany for their first full show. I don't really get it.

I spotted that on twitter (she linked to her Tumblr) a few days ago. Seems believable but who really knows? I just like the bit about billie using voice detection to text people. He's such an old man haha

I think that's the translation made by Google. Btw, I think she meant August and not June. Because the 29th of June was on Friday not on Wednesday and she says mercredi 29 which is in August :)

That makes sense. But then they were in Paris the day they were going to play a show in Germany. Weird. That'd mean they couldn't see much of the city because the tour bus had to leave early for MG.

I freaked out when I saw something that could be some sort of tour bus with a French plate on it on my way to Mönchengladbach. It's not grey, is it? :P:(

I think it's funny you can choose a country from that list, while this is clearly in the rules:

"The Sweepstakes is open only to residents of the United States only (excluding Puerto Rico) age 13 or older."

It's a good thing with these contests I've learned to read the rules first before I get excited and enter for nothing :lol:

I was thinking about entering but then I thought "arghh, what's the point?"... so I'm glad I didn't enter then. I guess I should learn to read the rules first too. :ermm:

Some time ago (2010?) Billie Joe was interviewed by Marky Ramone on his radio show. Do you know if someone recorded that interview?

Please use the question & answer thread next time you have questions :)http://www.greendaycommunity.org/topic/89340-green-day-question-answer-thread/

Unfortunately I don't know if there's a download link for this somewhere, but I'm sure someone knows more about this.

So this is news to me anyway...read on the Huffington Post (I was Google News searching Green Day) and came across an article talking about the clean versions of Uno, Dos, Tre (nothing specific, just that they're being sold at Walmart)

Now, the news in the post is that the original version of the American Idiot music video has actually been removed from Youtube and replaced with a clean version about two weeks ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ee_uujKuJMI

As I said, it's news to me but you guys probably already noticed.
