Green Day interview in Latin America

Maybe (hopefully) the rapping is more along the lines of The Clash's forays into rap with their album Sandinista. In fact, the opening track on that, "The Magnificent Seven", is a punk-rap song that has a similar style to the 30 second sample of what seems to be "Kill the DJ" in the Uno! trailer.

Rap? From Green Day? Hmm...this might finally be some rap I can enjoy! I'm going to try to listen to the video when I have time. It'll help me put my rudimentary Spanish skills to use. :P

In all seriousness though, this sounds really freaking awesome. This made me really, really want to hear all three album.

The word "rap" kind of scares me a bit, but considering it's Green Day whatever this "rap" like thing is the boys will pull it off . . . somehow.

I have high hopes for this Green Day rap. I am unsure what to think of it now because I love Green Day and I love rap but together? Ehhhh I don't know. Holding my judgement.

Just a thought, could the lady rap thing be done by Adie?

Lady Cobra is a singer in Mystic Knights of the Cobra.

Lady Cobra is also the name of a song in Dos. And the song with rapping in it, at least according to this guy, is called Nightlife (or Night Live, I guess).

Jesus...rap...i really hope the interviewer was just fumbling for the right translation and failing because really...i mean really?! I'm not gonna pretend i'm twelve and just like totally like love everything they decide to do just cos you "have to" if you are a real fan...the word rap scares the shit outta me...unless we are talking Adam and The Ants style and even thats a stretch for me to imagine in Green Day...im open minded though...just hope they aren't losing it totally and gonna have a little pop up rapper in their songs like Justin Timberlake or some shit (sniggers at the image of Billie bopping up and down beside a rapper for a few lines outta every song just so as to be played on MTV j/k)!

Wonder if Lady Cobra is the female singer in question...hmmm.

Also i suppose that explains Tre's new tattoo...y'know a lady cobra.

Let's not forget the rap-ish bridge in Holiday. It's been done before, and it was nailed hard. I'm hoping it's a part of the song, not the whole song xD

i wish that guy hadnt used the word "rap"... now everyones freaking out picturing DJ BJ, jam master mike and Biggie cool cursing around with 20 inch rims looking fo da club. In reality its probably just a fast rhyme, nothing wrong with that

Very unlikely that it is a translation problem because rap is said the same in Spanish as in English, same s punk, pop, rock and... any music style I can think of.

And I feel exactly the same as you do. I think this is the first time I've actually be nervous about the content of this trilogy.

I wonder if the song will include the traditional saying-the-name-of-the-artist at the beginning. Imagine hearing a song start off with "Green Day, yeah, yeah"

Didn't Billie say something negative about that recently? Or am I remembering wrong (as usual!)?

Probably he did. I'm sure it wouldn't happen. Unless it was sarcastically. Oh God, they're gonna be all hipster and do things with irony now.

Green Day in Latinoamerica next year???!!!!!!!! OMG!

im-pleased-as-fuck_by-NatalieDee.jpg

I'm so excited with this interview!!! :woot:

Though the "rap" thing sounds like an alert to me... I wanna hear it and it's just in DOS, why do you guys have to talk about it?! :runaround:

I can't control anything of what I'm doing or saying, GD you're making me seriously happy, you know?

I believe he did complain about this in an interview in and old interview (okay, around American Idiot era)... the same where he talked about meeting Roger Daltrey. God that interview was hilarious. But I can't recall anything more recent than that.

And nah, I think whoever made that comment was just making a joke. I doubt anyone here is seriously wodnering if they'll start that song saying their names/the name of the band :P

And I'll jump in on the "overly excited south americans" wagon  I'm really really hopeful that this supposed Latin American tour for next year will actually happen and, hopefully, bring them by Caracas.

Or maybe they'll use rap to criticize rap music in an ironic way.

aaargh!! Deep breaths deep breaths...it won't be as bad as it sounds...it can't be as bad as it sounds just a bit of good natured rapping...wait aaaaaah!! Whhhy drop the r word when Dos doesn't come out till Nov?!?! Now im gonna dread it till proven otherwise! Im already anxious that Oh Love is about the worst choice of a first single ever (i dont care about sales or popularity i care only about music and what i like...and i simply dont like ballads/last night on earthy type love songs unless im chilling in a romantic mood...ie rarely and definitely NOT after dying for a new single for the better part of forever! It would be the song i skip most normally)

I don't understand caring about Oh Love being a bad choice for a first single if you don't care about sales or popularity. The whole point of caring about a single is to see if it does well so as to see if it promotes the album well enough moving forward. I know you're impatient for a song that you think you will love, but that doesn't mean it's a poor choice of a single.

Also, Oh Love is obviously nothing at all like LNOE. Did you listen to the trailer? If you did, then I'm not sure where you're getting the ballady romantic mood of the song. It's clearly not like that.

Hope the rap song starts off with Billie saying "And all the teenies say i'm pretty fly for an old guy!"

Wait....wrong band. :P

People need to have a more open minded approach to music, the same people calling rap music shite are the same kind of people who probably get offended when anyone calls Green Day shit. Just cause you don't like something, doesn't mean it ain't good.
