netty
I don`t know why you wouldn`t be able to get on after the change over. try emailing the membership addy. memberships@GDidiotnation.com I know people are saying about the double log in being a pain still but so far I`ve found that I`m staying logged into the main GDIN site and I can go straight to the forums without having to go to the news page first. I just have to log into the forums.
Slave To The Network
Holy shit! Netty, you exist here and on Idiot Nation too? Just kidding. Anyway, I still don't see how there was that much of a change. I keep going there and I'm greatly underwhelmed...
DannyDirnt
I'd love to join when it's worth it. As of now, US gets everything and Europe barely gets anything.

It's so unfair that they run things like that! I'm grateful that I live in the U.S. because of it, but I feel bad for the people who can't have those benefits.
Mar
I'm not an IC member so I'm not going to judge the forum. However, I think it would take a hell of a long time to develop the community (no pun intended) and camaraderie we have here. Even if you're paying people, I think there is a level of passion here by the staff both for the band and the forum that is unmatched. (Sorry if that sounds ass-kissy, but it's true. I'm constantly amazed at how much extra effort and work is done here compared to other sites I visited in the past or currently visit!)
Mozzabillie
I absolutely LOVE the new site!!! I think it would look better if the posts were magenta on grey so the posts would be easier to read, though.

Hermione
I dislike the new name. It makes it sound like it's just for one nation (the US). Either that or that it's meant to be it's own "nation", which is just lame sorry . Wasn't worth getting rid of the name they've had for nearly two decades for that. Also if you type idiotnation.com into your address bar instead of gdidiotnation.com it takes you to a crackpot anti-Obama site. Looks much better though! And I enjoyed the little Mike video. Not sure what's actually new/different about it other than a new name and layout but we'll see I suppose.

A nation is a group of people who have the same beliefs and habits who wish to be together. So if we apply this to a fandom, it's a pretty cool name. LazyPhil
I really don't see much of a difference from the old Idiot Club. I actually just looked today. Exactly what are these changes that are supposed to be so wonderful? Well, it just doesn't look like crap anymore
snapdad
How is it not worth $20? (FOR A YEAR!) You get a T-Shirt and pre-sales. If nothing else, it's worth it just for that. As for the contests being US only...it's not like there are a ton of them. And...ya know...US band and all... I'm sure the Mumford and Sons fan club has plenty of stuff for UK residents only. I really don't see much of a difference from the old Idiot Club. I actually just looked today. Exactly what are these changes that are supposed to be so wonderful? Wow...really? Maybe clear your cookies or something? The page looks COMPLETELY different. The forums, everything. They added some sort of community social network aspect to it (Like the main GD site I guess) I'm not one to get all excited about some new colors or a website being different, but it is different, a lot different, there's no getting around that. Green Day have never skipped Ireland on a tour before, how was I supposed to know they'd skip it this time around. €20 is a complete rip off for some people

Alan86
So would you say it's worth it to get a 1 year license now? No, Unless your going to a show and you want to get tickets a day or 2 earlier .
DannyDirnt
No, Unless your going to a show and you want to get tickets a day or 2 earlier . Well, maybe I should then get the license when they reveal the tour date for Madrid. Then I could get the license, then get my pre-sale tickets and go

DannyDirnt
I think IC is worth it if you have the extra money to toss about. The occasional contests *are* fun, the regulars on there are very nice, and the pre-sales/renewal incentive are nice as well. But, if you're just barely scraping by, don't spend the money on it. You'll probably feel let down. What does 'barely scraping by' actually mean?

DannyDirnt
only just having enough money for food etc Ohhh! I see! Thanks so much, I'll add it to my vocabulary I think IC is worth it if you have the extra money to toss about. You'll probably feel let down. I have my own money that my parents give me. The thing is that most things are just US-only so I'm not sure. Could someone inform me or tell me where I could get information about all you get from Idiot Nation?
Hermione
The way I see it, if they're doing something that you personally consider to be worth the $20 fee, it's worth joining. Otherwise it's not. Simple as that. Any time they do anything cool we hear about it on greenday.com and on here in advance. So just wait until they're offering something you don't mind paying $20 for (might just be contests and the forum, might be a presale for a show you're going to, whatever you think is worth it) and then join. That way you're not wasting some of your year's membership waiting around hoping for something you're interested in to happen.

You get one when you sign up, then you get a new one every year....except that one year they did post-cards instead, mistakes were made, lessons learned. Sorry about Ireland. Aren't you guys in Europe all really close to each other? There's high speed trains running all over right? (American Idiot joke) I'm sure they'll make their way over there at some point soon. Finally playing again, I bet they stay on the road for a good long time.
