Kill The DJ = Dance music, with power drill guitars?

I can’t imagine a Green Day dance song. It seems so wrong, but oh so right....

My God! This was cerntainly the trigger to my excitement about the trilogy. I mean, I wanted it to happen, but right now I'm seriously dying to get all 3 albums *-*

The idea of organizing the songs by topic, or gerne, I dunno, it's kinda fascinating :3

Can't wait to have them all!!

I'm fucking terrified I'm not going to be able to connect with any of this new music. It sounds so out there, man ... And not in a good way.

Every new piece of information that comes out about this trilogy, I get more and more apprehensive. I'm full out freakin' by this point.

Interesting to me because these last few bits of news have had the opposite effect on me. If anything it has calmed my nerves. (I could still end up not being a fan of it all, but at least I'll be going in with a more hopeful attitude)... what don't you like about what you're hearing? Is it the "dance party" aspect of it all? Because I'm pretty apprehensive about that myself, but I feel like they're gonna get it right.

I totally know what you guys mean. I had this fear of not being able to connect with the songs as well but I'm trying to pass over it the best I can. But as you said, Mercury, this Rolling Stone articles somehow made me a little more calm and relaxed when it comes to the triology. However, you can always end up not liking the new songs, even though it's pretty unlikely because it's Green Day. There still was something that has been confusing me since we heard about the triology for the first time. Now that the information is a little more concrete, I'm able to "calm down" at least a bit.

I don't think "dance party" means synth beats and auto-tuned vocals.

Exactly why I'm not too concerned about it. The only thing it might signify is slightly more superficial lyrics (Wow, that's loud)... but after 21CB, we need to lighten up a bit anyway. And for every Wow, That's Loud there'll be a 99 Revolutions.

Green Day records are different and that's amazing! They're not like AC/DC. They changed a bit their style with every album. That's why I've never get bored with thier music for 3 years. This time will be something new, but it will be still Green Day. We don't need next a bit upset songs. Now is time for party!

Putting the few details we have together, it sounds like they did the bulk of the recording at Jingletown and added the just the string tracks at Ocean Way. Chris Lord-Alge works out of L.A. as well so it makes sense to ship the whole works down there for the final touches.

Rob specifically stated in the interview that most of the tracks for this project use "two guitars", and Fricke mentions Jason White as that second guitarist. Unless Billiie recorded two separate guitar parts -- which I doubt -- I would expect that Jason recorded for the album. The outstanding question is whether he's simply going to be credited as an additional musician (as, for example, Jason Freese was on 21stCB) or whether he's become an "official" member of Green Day now....guess we'll find out for sure when the complete album covers/inserts drop. He's been more involved in the entire creative process for these albums than he's ever been in the past, so my hunch is that something has indeed changed.

That'd make sense :)

Yeah it says that Jason is the second guitarist, but hasn't he always been that, when they perform live I mean? In the studio I thought Billie always recorded all the additional instruments that he can play, especially the second guitar. And that he maybe also has done so this time, but I guess we don't know for sure yet. I had the impression that Jason has always been around Green Day and helped them with their albums in some kind of way. Therefore I didn't think it's special this time. But that's just the impression I got and maybe totally wrong :ninja:

really interested articles and i'm so excited.

glad to hear the tracks for Dos and Tre are decided so they won't be in the studio too much - giving them plenty of time to tour the world!!

My thoughts

1st- 36 songs AWESOME! =0

2nd- I wasn't expecting Amy to be in it!! But since the song is really beautiful, I am happy about it!

3rd- iTré! being the serious one, I think that's the most surprising thing to a lot of people here

4th- I am so going to love iDos!

and I really loved the last quote from Billie "... That's Green Day" yes, these are my boys.

The article should be longer through! They were the first magazine to do an interview for the new albums, they should have made it bigger... I would spend 5€ with it if it was. xD

I amm sooo excited for this.

The only thing that peeves me really bad is that there is no official word that Oh Love and Stray Heart will be on it.

I'm still really excited for the new line up though, and X kid sounds like it will be kick ass.

i don't understant why people are concearned about a dance song..

offspring did it with "you're gonna go far kid" and was awesome.... and so as Green Day is a way better than The Offspring i'm no worried... actually knowing that Kill the DJ is a dance song..to me it is a confirmation that is the song on the Uno trailer...

It sure does seem like it.

Now I wonder if they will also decide to pick that song as the first single, since it will be on Uno

Wait, you guys think the song in the Uno trailer sounds like a dance song?

I know I'm no good with music genres, but really..?

I don't know, I'm just assuming. I am not 100% sure of course.

I'm just imagining myself walking into a disco in late 70's or early 80's and hearing that song, it would quite fit actually.

Foxies have gone there -- Fuck Time being the most raw and raunchy, "dive-bar-like" of them, but take a good listen to Mother Mary in particular. I'd love to see if some of its elements made their way into Kill The DJ.

I thought this was a really good article, gave a lot of good information about the 3 albums!

36 Songs!!!!!!!!!! Hell Yes!!!!!!

Love the face their all gonna have a different sorta genre and feel to them!

To be honest this article to me is more exiting than the trailer for UNO, i think it has more information in it and gives a pretty good insight into the albums without giving too much away!

:D :D :D :D

Exactly! Before this article came out, I was thinking that iTré! is the kind of album iDos! now turned out to be. And I'm sure I wasn't the only one there  But I actually love that.. and Billie's words "cleaning up the mess" got me all excited for iTré! :)

This might be a dumb question, but has this issue been mailed out physically yet? I'm a subscriber and the last one I got had Charlie Sheen on the cover, and on RollingStone.com the latest issue is the Sheen one as well....so I'm a little confused. :(

The person who posted said they got theirs in the mail. Some people get them earlier than others though.

See, by dance song, I initially thought they meant ‘dance’ as in the genre. Not just a song you can dance to :P

I dance to plenty of GD songs already....

Phew! I thought might of been being a bit too out there :P
