Got my rolling stone magazine today in the mail. Awesome article about the new trilogy coming out, but I assume you all know that :)

And these songs are in some way "related"... :ermm: or at least that's what I understood from one of the video updates.

Judging by the Rolling Stone article I'd say the songs may be related by the music rather than the lyrics

If they do b-sides with the singles we're literally going to have about 40 new songs... wow.

A few key takeaways from the RS article.......

  1. The reporter's meetup for the article was at Ocean Way. I thought they were using Jingletown exclusively this time? Is that where they were just for mixing or did they actually finalize some tracks there again this time? At the very least it seems that they recorded the strings at Ocean Way, if I'm reading the article right.
  2. Thirty. Six. Fucking. Songs. EPIC, and proving once again that nobody can overdo things the way Green Day can. :bunny:
  3. String sections. Tom Kitt's handiwork is gonna be all over this thang...raising "epic" to an entirely new level.
  4. Rob Cavallo is producing -- we already knew that.
  5. Chris Lord-Alge is mixing the bastard. We didn't have confirmation of that til now. Yea!
  6. Drums, bass, vocals, and two guitars...."with second guitarist Jason White" -- LONG overdue welcome, Jason, to the *foursome* that is Green Day.
  7. More than 40 songs were recorded, 36 going on the album....get ready for some shit-kicking B-sides y'all.
  8. "Amy" is "a bridge to iTre!"....and so I believe will be the final track on iDos!

My skepticism about what our gang from Oakland has been up to has evaporated, and I am now *beyond* fucking excited for this album set to drop.

Edit: I'm also struggling to figure out how the hell I'm going to manage to learn 36+ new Green Day songs in less than 9 months!

After reading about it, I feel most excited about Tré - I love epic songs and piano-driven ballads and strings

But I'm also excited to hear all the party fun songs from Uno and Dos! Great variety.

It sounds like there's something for everyone on the trilogy, with all the different sounds and themes.

Instead of reading the scans, I just had to run out and buy it. I knew my guess of 36 was correct!!! These are going to be awesome albums!

Tre's line "fun like this should be served straight, no chaser" is just a fantastic way to sum up a new album to people who haven't heard it yet. What a boss.

Meh... I've known about there being 36 songs for about a week and a half now. Not news to me.

Although, those new song titles sound really cool! Makes me really excited for ¡Tré!

The more news we get about the albums, the more excited I get.

Just being able to get more details and get a glimpse of what's going on in their minds and the songs they are comparing the albums to. ksjfkdsjfkd

Let's just say somebody was hanging out at the Uptown in Oakland two Fridays ago and was comfortable with volunteering the info.

Tre? Seems like something he would do.

I wonder if "Brutal Love" is a re-named "Oh Love"? Oh Love is kind of a meh title, and the way it sounds is certainly epic enough to go on Tre. We'll see!

I am so pleased that Amy is included. I was also kind of hoping they would release it as a single for the anniversary of Amy Winehouse's death, which is July 23, and certainly around the time we will hopefully be getting a single... but considering it's on Dos, and probably not very representative of the party-rock vibe they're going for with the rest of the first two albums, I will accept that that's a big improbability...

Who knows though, if they spread out 3 albums worth of singles over a large amount of time, they could release Amy as a single NEXT summer.

No. Let's just say it may have been the lead singer himself.

My parents had the opportunity to meet and talk to him. It was not public knowledge. Not until today, at least.
