petros
I like the song, catchy and it's full of energy and stuff, but i was thinking about things like... A tons of (real) fans like Green Day because of their great lyrics, they say Billie Joe is a poet, and stuff... Listen to any song from any album they've made, it's not only the American Idiot, even Insomniac has brillant lyrics which is not my favourite disc (still love it though). Think about lines like "I'm the son of Rage and Love, the Jesus Of Suburbia." And now, we'll have OH BABY BABY IT'S FUCK TIME. Anyone can see my problem, or am I the only one? You're the only one Music doesn't always have to be serious. And it's only one song.

I see what you mean, but it's kinda like cherry-picking. There are plenty of lyrics in older Green Day songs that are pretty basic. Also this is just the one song, it'll probably be that one song they threw in for fun because it kicks so much ass live.

They're not allowed to have one "fun song"? That's essentially what it is. The entire albums don't have to be serious, or have to have a storyline with incredible lyrics. It's Fuck Time is just a fun song to song along and dance to. I really do think Green Day is in the era where they just want to have fun, I don't think they're aiming for making a masterpiece (but then again, it could turn out to be one, we don't know). We're going to be getting more than quite a few new songs with these albums, I'm sure there will be plenty of different styles of songs. If great lyrics is really all you're looking for, you're going to get some - don't let one song that they're having fun with let you doubt that. God this post was really weirdly worded and it didn't really come out the way I want to, I hope you guys get my point.

I get what you're saying but this is being (probably, it seems to be already) marketed as a more relaxed and fun Green Day. I doubt one sexy song about fucking is gonna make the majority forget that Billie can write beautiful lyrics when he wants. Sometimes you just wanna fuck. Holly
It sounds so different, I love it. Makes it all the more exciting! I absolutely love the new logo, definitely seems to represent this new fun sound really well. Every time I see it though I think of My Chemical Romance, I think it's from the bright pink 'Danger Days' on their album cover.
uhleckseee
Awesome! Does anyone think that whatever song they used in the video has a VERY similar feel to this?: [media=] Yeah, I can definitely hear it. Someone just commented this song on reddit in r/music. And as for the seriousness of the lyrics, I totally get what you mean. This is only one of the songs though. Sure, through most of their albums they are serious, but there are those songs that are just for fun. Look at All By Myself, Blood Sex and Booze, and King for A Day. This band just screams fun, and then makes art.

Kaddi.
The whole stadium "singing" aaaah.... That would be great We did that in Mainz. It wasn't the whole stadium of course, because only a few people knew the song. But almost everyone in the first rows knew it and it was just awesome and a lot of fun! I can understand your problem, but I don't have it hahaha. I am one of those fans you refer to above who loves Green Day for their sound as much as I do for their lyrics, and I do think there's a certain greatness to most of their lyrics, be it Jesus of Suburbia, King for a Day, Peacemaker or Longiview. Some are clever in a very.... cultural way, let's say, talking about issues that are of significance to modern society or whatever, some are clever in a funny way, and that's all fine. As long as it's clever I'll appreciate it. But I don't mind having a silly meaningless song every now and then going OH BABY BABY IT'S FUCK TIME, hahaha )I actually haven't heard It's Fuck Time, so I have no idea if there's anything else to the lyrics, other than that). As long as not all songs are like that (which I'm sure they won't be), I won't mind.
