Bastard of 1967
yup "This is my favorite show we've ever played in Manchester. And I swear to god I would never want to be in any other band than Green Day I hate when bands break up, all of my favorite bands either someone has died or they've broken up- I have no idea. It's like your parents or something. But you've gotta to wheel me away in a fucking coffin to get me out of this fucking band." He's not just saying this without meaning it. Everything this band does, they give their heart and soul to it. The words and the actions and the appearances, the concerts, the interviews, their interactions with the fans, all match up. To me that indicates that it's not bullshit, it's the real deal. Think about it...they name their last live album after "thank you" signs that fans held up during the Summer 2009 tour series, and one of their new songs (Carpe Diem) is titled as a shout-out to Niki Lee's "Seize the Green Day" -- a simple fan-published zine that chronicles her travels following the band on their last tour, as well as the band's influence on the fans she met along the way (it's well worth the read, by the way). This all brings to mind one takeaway from Cometbus #54 that was circulating last year -- Aaron notes that unlike other bands he's accompanied on tours (or been on tour with), Billie, Mike, and Tre actually really enjoy just being with each other. Here's an excerpt from p.5 where he observes just simply boarding the plane to Japan with the guys: Much to my surprise, Mike and Tre scooted in next to Billie and took a seat on either side. It was one thing to be a successful band and still be on speaking terms -- unheard of, really -- but quite another to choose to be right next to each other, especially on a long and uncomfortable flight. Rather than rockstars, they looked like sweethearts on a long-awaited trip, or kittens in a cardboard box outside the co-op. Watching from behind, I felt like I was in the loft of the old van. They seemed closer now than they had ever been. Remember, while all this touring was going on, they had a hit show on Broadway which immersed them -- and particularly Billie -- with some of the most creative and expressive people they've ever worked with. In one interview, Billie described his "downtime" in New York as being a time where he could just go back to his apartment and write...and write. Inject Rob Cavallo, their old, old friend and the producer of almost all of their albums into the mix...and now they've apparently got enough quality material to drop at least 30 fresh tracks on three albums over the course of five months. And they're apparently having enough fun doing it to make time to fuck around with us by dropping a few studio teaser videos every so often. So from all appearances, I think they've just whipped up a giant creative wave here and they're riding it for all it's worth. Can't wait to see & hear the results. DannyDirnt
I really hope there will be a storm of info and updates now. I'm impatient. Maybe they are updating to change the design of greenday.com to a Uno design and we get to see some artwork? Because now it's Awesome as F**k themed. Greenday.com is almost always the last thing to catch up with what the band's actually doing. Stick around here, Andres will keep us posted. farley drexel hatcher
Just wanted to clarify, 'carpe diem' wasn't named after the fan written book. They already had that song when billie was given the book.
DannyDirnt
Oh, did they? Well, I really hope Carpe Diem makes it to Uno, Dos or Tré. Specially Uno, so I can listen to it soon. That song sure would sound totally outrageously amazing in a tour concert!

valeriesername
My theory- Green Day will release a single from uno by late June or early July. And the same thing for each album; they will release a single from each album at least a month before the album release. So my hypothesis is that next time there is news on the albums, it will be about a new single.
DannyDirnt
Yeah, I hope they announce the new single soon and tell what song is it. If it's Stray Heart or Carpe Diem I'll freak out. I wonder if they'll go back to the more simple videoclip style, with them playing in the background.

I wonder if they'll go back to the more simple videoclip style, with them playing in the background. I'd personally put my money on Nuclear Family as a first single. Carpe Diem is good but it still lacks something that makes it stand out. Also.. I don't think news about the albums has been this low since they started recording. DannyDirnt
Yeah, maybe Carpe Diem lacks strenght to give Uno the fame it needs. I don't really remember how Nuclear Family is, and I don't want to spoil it so I'm fine with it. The best thing is that whatever they release I'll be so happy that not even getting a 0/10 in an exam would bring me down (as long as I don't tell my mom hahaha). I just fell in love with the "Ask for reason and no reply // are we all too young to die". I don't really hear aren't we all too young to die" but "are". But Billie sing so fast (like in the "It''s not aver before it's too late" in Letterbomb) that it could well be. About the activity, yeah, I think they are so quiet now because they are preparing something big for us. Or maybe they've decided that they have done a lot already so they decided to take a break to have their own life for a while. After all, they must have some time to be with their other friend, family, etc.
Mr.Whirly1988
counting down the days 122 days left.. If my maths are right I put my hopes on Carpe Diem for the first single.. I just love that song.. and it's not even out yet. I want a studio version!
Annie, get your gun
It's been 24 days since the last S.U. and it never been so long, so I had this crazy theory that maybe "15" is the number of songs on each album (or at least in one). And if I'm not completely wrong the premiere of Know Your Enemy was in April, a month or so before the album comes out so I think it's too soon for a single. They must confirm the tracklists first! DannyDirnt
Wow good theory! Although it seems unbeliable to have 15 songs in each album, having an amount of 45 songs!
Ritz
This feels like the silence before a storm ! Hope we get some update very soon ! Yes I'm dying to listen to studio version of Carpe Diem ! I hope they release it as a single first
DannyDirnt
Truth is that I'd love having Carpe Diem as soon as possible, but it's true that it lacks some strenght. I hope they release first their most powerful and energic song. Then all the others.
NickD
You can't say any of the songs we've heard lack strength yet, truly. Those are all rough, early versions of them. Any and all of the songs we've heard thus far will most certainly be much more polished then they were at the shows from months ago. We also don't know how many of them will actually make it to the three records. I'd love Carpe Diem and Nuclear Family to be there, but there's no guarantee of it.
