The Trilogy Albums: ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré!

Is there actually a point in buying the Deluxe version if all it contains are music videos? I mean, aren't they just gonna be on youtube anyway...?

The regular album is what, 12 bucks? And deluxe is 14? 4 music videos for two bucks is a good deal considering buying one alone would be $2

Did you make your signature? It's freaking awesome!

Yep. Tools available were pretty crude but it worked anyway. :D Glad you like it!

wth, is there some bot on gdc now ~MSN/Bing as a guest... anyways,

They're not joking about Rob. Remember the remastered version of behind the music.. The new part with Billie Joe talking? He touches on losing Rob for a while and he looks really uncomfortable and I got a real ~awkward vibe from it. Take a look at it. Also, I believe Billie's brother Alan said some stuff against Rob a while back. There's definitely been a couple of rumors of them falling out too. I can't remember concrete info but I thought it was sort of common knowledge they fell out? Anyways, I'm very glad they're back with him because I like their partnership and his laid back production. They feel comfortable with him which is great! (God, I hated Butch.. )

This makes me sad if it's true. I think I bromanticize their relationship with Rob more than I do any other Green Day relationship

 Aw yeah, I know, I was sad to hear/think it too. Ah well, at least it's behind them! I was SO ridiculously happy when I heard they were working with him again. ^__^

I've only ever heard the rumours on here, and it always seemed like people just looking for a reason why he didn't produce the record. Given their long - and, now, continuing - relationship, I think it's more likely he was just busy becoming the head of Warner. By total coincidence, I was re-watching the VH1 Behind The Scenes thing earlier, and I didn't get an awkward vibe at all. He just said they didn't have Rob that time, and were struggling for a direction.

Also, if he really was being an asshole, isn't it more likely Billie would have said so at the time rather than now, when everything has been patched up and they're working together again? Not to say it's impossible, but my bet is the joke has been lost in translation somewhere. Then again, it's 6:30am and I haven't gone to bed yet, so :D

Not to speculate but y'know, it is actually somewhat strange they didn't work with him on one record after all the others, no? Also, I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I read (possibly in an interview with Rob himself) that Rob left Warner's for a different record label/project briefly and then came back and was promoted, etc? Which makes it even stranger, why he would leave them even with his strong ties so randomly and then to come back again so soon. I dunno, I definitely got that vibe watching that and I've just gotten that vibe in general for a couple of years.. I often discussed it with people and everything so for me I just feel like this is confirmation of what I thought. Anyways, the ~vibe I got coupled with what Alan said and now this, is what makes me think it's pretty likely. I don't think Billie would have said so at the time because they would have been quite hurt + I just don't see why he would.. Now, he's happy they've got him back and since everything's in the past it's okay for him to say so, to explain, etc. But yeah, it could be lost in translation or just a joke. Maybe he'll bring it up again in a different interview so we can know for certain. I'm with you on the sleep thing, don't worry.

I don't recall ever hearing Rob leaving Warner at all. I'm pretty sure he's always been pretty important there. I do remember an interview after 21CB came out where Billie mentioned that no-one really wanted to follow up American Idiot. It's plausible that Rob's schedule didn't allow it (he had just been promoted - not to lead the company, but he was a director or something like that) and that he had reservations about trying to follow up American Idiot.

This is the first time I ever actually hear anything suggesting they didn't get along. That's never been my impression.

Cavallo left Warner Bros. in 1998 for Hollywood Records and returned to Warner Bros. in 2002. Rob Cavallo is Green Day's George Martin. He is the only person who should produce Green Day.

I was talking about the post above mine, which suggested him leaving was part of the reason he couldn't produce 21CB.

3 Years on tour? :woot:

I didn't understand it that way. In fact, they said the opposite.

The interviewer asks them about the tour and if they are going to visit his country, and they say that they don't know, that they want to do things old school, just rehearse, then play and see where they go and what they do.

The reference to "plan a 3 years tour" means that's the way they did things in their last tours, planning long ones. They say that this time they are not following any rules, so what I understand is that they are NOT going 3 years on tour, that they don't even know how or where they are going to play.

"MD – Creo que esta vez vamos a ver a dónde nos lleva la música. Es sobrecogedor planear tres años de gira y verlo de esa manera."

does this mean they are actually planning to go on world tour for THREE years??

Exactly what I was thinking. If it does, the poor guys are gonna be fucking stressed. Imagine going on a three year tour, without going home and watch TV with your family. Or do they have little breaks in tours?

If those four videos with the deluxe version are all singles I couldn't be happier. For me, those would be the perfect single choices to represent this new era so far.

Oh Love - There you have a powerful rock and roll ballad. People will be familiar with this as some of Green Day's biggest hits have been ballads, WMUWSE, Good Riddance, 21 Guns, etc.

Let Yourself Go - High energy, empowering, raw thrashy sound - shows contrast to Oh Love, and is also a lot faster (from the live recording) than some of their more recent work. (Aka, Green Day can still write a fast, unrelenting powerhouse record)

Stay the Night - Similar to Let Yourself Go in terms of energy I think, but another record is catchy and is also a love song in some ways, so people can relate to it.

Kill the DJ - Pretty much completely different to anything the general public will have heard before from Green Day, this song will have the 'This is Green Day?' effect to it and furthermore show the bands complexity and diversity in their music.

PLEASE let these be the singles, if they are I think these albums will be huge :D

Any of you, guys who listened to the Secret Shows, knows if there is a really fast song in the trilogy, like Platypus was?

Let Yourself Go is pretty fast, from what I've heard of the recordings anyway :)

Nope. Let yourself go isn't even as fast as St. Jimmy's fast part. But that doesn't make it any less awesome though.

I tell you, that's not what they say. Can't you see that the first sentence contradicts your view of touring for 3 years? What would be the point of saying that they are not following any rules and want to see where the music takes them if then they say that they are planning a 3 years your?

I think you are misunderstanding those lines...

For what we know from the secret shows, there's nothing as fast as Platypus. In fact, here http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Fastest_rock_songs someone says it's 369 bpm.

If you look at Uno!'s trailer, you can see just next to the songs written on a sheet that they're around 160, max. 180 bpm.

In particular, at about 0.09, we manage to know that: Carpe Diem is 140 bpm, Fell For Snoo 144 bpm, Crushing Bastards 182 bpm (which is also pretty fast), State Of Shock 174 bpm, Sweet 16 158 bpm.

I dug up this article and press release which shows he left sometime after BIAB and did some independent work and work with Atlantic Records and then came back in 2009. http://www.hypebot.com/hypebot/2009/10/wmg-names-rob-cavallo-chief-creative-officer.html

It's not the article I was remembering but I'm pretty sure you could find that too, I think it was posted on GDA a few months ago.

About this pre-order business...

I want a physical copy of the CD, 100%. But I don't want to miss out on whatever pre-order special bonuses (ticket bundles, whathaveyou) come along with the official Green Day pre-order. Is that going to be an iTunes exclusive? And would that mean I legit have to buy the album twice---once on iTunes for the bonuses, and a physical copy just so I can have one?
